  1. Can't wait to see the finished article!
  2. Just noticed the plate, AWESOME!
  3. Hello everyone! I’m based in Sussex and am new to the Corrado ownership. Paid the deposit on the VR6 yesterday and am picking it up next Saturday. It’s a 1994 VR6 Ice grey violet, cloth trim with only 76k miles. Standard and no modification. When I first saw the ad I wasn’t too sure of the colour; I wanted something darker such as Bordeaux Pearl, blackberry, dark violet, aqua blue etc (but not black or green), but in the fresh Ice Grey Violet looks really good and I’ve been told that it’s not very common. I inspected the car for over an hour; I don’t have much mechanical knowledge, so I was following the forum’s buying guide and also tips from forum member ‘dukest’. The Seller took me out for 15 minutes, and finally I test-drove it for about 20 minutes. From my notes yesterday: - The exterior isn’t prefect; there are tiny spots of rust at the left-side rear arch, barely noticeable though. Small cracks on both front fogs; minor scrapes at rear bumper and front left wing, and small dent at left-front arch. - Passenger door was replaced due to damage in car cark. I didn’t see any chassis damage, hopefully I’m correct! - Electric mirrors don’t work, but the sunroof, spoiler and heating are all fine. Interior is fine but needs a good clean. The knob that adjusts ‘tilt’ for the driver’s seat has come loose and the casing above the hand–brake is also a bit loose. Alloys in good conditions, slightly kerbed but they look fine. - Radiator was changed in Nov 2003 and ECU (is that the correct term?) was replaced in Nov 2005 - Tyres were changed in 2004 & 2006 - Bonnet release cable has broken, but the Seller has already ordered the part - The car is the Seller’s (and pervious owner’s) second/weekend car. - Just serviced and MOT’d The car has had 4 owners (I’ll be the fifth), and the Seller has had the car for the last seven years. The Seller has put the car in storage during winter and only did 20,000 miles in his ownership. The one major bad point is that the service book was lost by the previous owner. The Seller only managed to trace two service logs from VW, but have all the bills for the last seven (to nine?) years. Mileage 1997 – 18259 1998 – 26205 Nov 04 – 59177 Nov 05 – 65451 Nov 06 – 69136 Nov 07 – 71856 Nov 08 – 75400 Mar 10 – 75905 Yesterday – 75974 The Seller has warned me about that the first gear is hard to engage in first attempt. When that happens one should release the pressure and then it should engage the second try. When I test-droved it the exact thing had happened, though I had no problem engaging the 1st gear once I had released pressure and tried again in the second attempt. (Sorry hope that makes sense to you!) It’s not a major problem, just have to be aware when at traffic light / junctions. Otherwise the clutch and gearbox feels fine. Paddles and gearbox have long travel compare to my current car, but I believe that’s normal. Engine pulls really well, and the third gear seems to be the magical gear! Sounds wonderful and so much fun! The Seller showed me the trip computer and it read 30.9 mpg, I was quite impressed. The Seller is only using 95-RON fuel though. Is this ok? Or would you recommend 97/98-RON? Things on my to-do-list for the next 12-month (providing I can afford them of course) - forum stickers :) - New exhaust - Upgrade brakes - Upgrade suspensions No plan for any engine upgrade though. Overall I’m quite happy; I hope it goes ok and not to be a money-pit! Can't wait to pick it up next Saturday! :D Finally thank you to everyone who has helped me with my search. A few pics taken with my camera phone: The cable to open the bonnet is broken, hence the white wire. Front VR6 badge is missing, anybody got one for sale please? :( :( :( You should be able to see the small dent (front wing). Got a quote and it should cost £50-75 to have it fixed (no paint damage). Thanks for reading. :D
  4. Me too, please pm me. Did you get the work done at DG Autotech as precautionary? Or did the work actually need doing? I’ve just bought a '94 VR6 yesterday, the Seller has just had it serviced and MOT'd, but I'm wondering if I should take it to DG Auto / G-werks to give it a check up. Thanks!
  5. Hi David, it's a VR6. Cheers.
  6. Hi, I’m viewing a car tomorrow. I’ve just done a car check with mycarcheck.com and it has given me an ‘engine number’. Where is the engine number located so I can check if they match? Many thanks!
  7. Hi, Newbie here and I’m confused.... There is a car that I’m interested in and I’ve arranged a viewing tomorrow. The colour is Ice Grey Violet. I’ve just done a car check with mycarcheck.com and it says that the car is ‘blue’. Also it says ‘This registration has had 1 previous colour, last change from Purple/Mauve/Violet on 6 Nov 1997.’ So, questions to Ice Grey Violet owner, what colour does it say in your V5 document, is it blue, or Purple/Mauve/Violet? Also question to everyone. I’ve read through the Corrado checklist in the forum and it says: 'Colour code stickers - inside of the rear panel, an orange-red smallish sticker on the inside of the o/s/f wing, also a sticker insider the driver’s side door pillar – If any are missing it is an indication of respray work and possible crash damage' I’m a bit confused on where the sticker is. Could somebody please post a picture so I can understand what to look out for? Many thanks in advance.
  8. You're probably right! 'dukest' even asked if I wanted to drive his car!! :D :D
  9. Just a quick summary on the car that I viewed today; I’m not going to link the advert cos that may be unfair to the Seller, but I’m happy to pm it to any interested party. Anyway, ‘dukest’ kindly accompanied me to view the car; I dropped my car of at his place, and ‘dukest’ took me to North London in his outstanding Aqua Blue VR6 (more on that later). Summary for the Seller’s car: - Car is very handsome; paint job / exterior in very good condition. The Seller mentioned in the advert that it’s got stone chips, but they are hardly noticeable. Tiny bit of parking dent and minor scuffs but again hardly noticeable. - Three tiny rust spots. Drivers' door edge, side indicator, rear arch, all very minor. - Interior looks good buy really needs a good clean. - Sunroof does not work at all. In fact it wasn’t shut properly when we got there, but ‘dukest’ believes we should be able to shut it manually. - Alloys in very good conditions. However the four tires are all different brands. - ‘dukest’ believes the right-rear brake may be at the end of its life. - Engine sounds very healthy. Seller says there is a slight oil leak but it really is minor. I looked under the car and couldn’t find anything. - FVWSH - ABS – Seller says he’s got £800 worth of bills replacing sensor and hub by VW. - Last service carried out in Sept 09. (1.400 miles ago) - Heating doesn’t work. ‘dukest’ picks that up as soon as the bonnet is opened, as the pipes are connected incorrectly. (sorry I don’t know technical terms) - Spoiler and electric mirrors don’t work. Seller thinks it may be fuse. - Seller asked if I wanted to test drive it… I declined as I wasn’t too impressed with the things needed fixing. I knew that even if the test drive went ok, I wouldn’t be comfortable enough to buy it. I think the car would be very good for somebody with previous experience but for a newbie like me, it’s no go. It’s a shame cos the exterior looks really good. - ‘dukest’ thinks the price should be knocked off by at least a few hundreds £ Edit to add – Alarm & immobiliser not working Finally, big thank you to ‘dukest’ for his time and knowledge. His car is lovely. The leather interior is exceptional – you wouldn’t be able to tell that the car’s done 150k. The engine sounds great; it has a AMG Mercedes SL55 / NASCAR kind of low rumble. Exterior is pretty spot on too! I have to say before today I wasn’t too sure on aqua blue, but it really is a lovely colour and really suits the car. Also thank you to carter711, Portent and tandino who offered their assistance. Cheers.
  10. Hi carter711, I'll take up 'dukest''s offer tomorrow if that's ok. I don't want to leave it too late for the arrangement. Thank you for your offer anyway! Cheers, YK ps dukest, I'll pm you, thanks.
  11. Hi mate, Got your pm, thank you. I'm waiting for 'carter711' to get back to me. He said he's going to let me know this evening. If he's not available / or I don't hear from him by 9pm, I'll text you. (Viewing is at 11am ish in North Finchley, I can pick you up ) Thank you very much!
  12. Hi carter711, Spoken to the Seller, the car is in North Finchley, so about 45-55mins from Purley. Is that ok with you? I've booked the viewing for 11am tomorrow, so can pick you up at 10am. I don't know Purley areathat well, but I know the car park opposite of AMF bowling / LA Fitness on A23. Is that any good? If you're available, please let me know your mobile. Edit: If time is not good for you, let me know and I'll re-arrange with Seller. Pete & 'Portent', I'll keep you posted RE: if carter771 is available. Many thanks everyone!
  13. You guys are doing very well putting me off from buying one! :( :D
  14. Brilliant! I'll pm you my mobile now just in case. I'm from Brighton so if I was going to London I'd go through A23 via Purley and can pick you up. That's much more convenience than 'Portent' and Pete. I've written to the Seller but will also call him on Sunday. I'll let everyone know what's going on. Thanks again to everyone!
  15. Been lusting after one since I was a teenager many moons ago and (as you know) I’m looking to acquire one right now. Strange thing is that I have not met one person (car nuts or not) who doesn’t like the Corrado! Law of average tells me this is not possible, but honestly I have yet to meet one person who dislikes the C! I have never driven one, but I remember all the car reviews at the time were good. EVO magazine had it rated as a 5-star car until a couple of years ago where it got downgraded to 4.5 stars! BOOOOO! :mad2: :D :mad2:
  16. Hi Pete, Many thanks for the reply. I'm in Brighton but I'm happy to pick you up from Westfield if you're available. I don't know whereabout in London the car is though. Just checked weather forecast and it says that it may rain in Bedfordshire on Monday so I don't know.... I'm gonna email the Seller now and will call him tomorrow as well. Either way, I'll email both 'Portent' and yourself tomorrow as soon as I've spoken to the Seller, to check if either of you can accompany me. Thanks again.
  17. Thank you very much for the reply! It may be too short notice for a Sunday morning viewing... Are you free Monday (anytime)? I can pick you up if necessary. I’ve been pm’ing a few of the established forum members from London but none has replied to me yet If you’re free Monday, I may take up your offer if no other VR6 owners/ex-owners are available. I’m going to pm you my mobile just in case. Thanks! :)
  18. I’m hoping to view a VR6 in London tomorrow or Monday, but I’m a complete newbie and also can’t tell a spanner from a fork, so would appreciate if any VR6 owners could accompany me. I haven’t called the Seller yet, so whenever is good for you would be good for me. (assuming the Seller is available) I’m based in Sussex, so I’m happy to pick you up in Sussex/Surrey if you’re from there and maybe London (cos of traffic so may not be a good idea) or meet you there. FREE BEER of course! Ps. Dear Mod, I’ve tried the ‘Corrado Pre-Viewing’ for my previously viewing but no reply, hence I’ve started this thread, hope it’s ok.
  19. Thank you. I'll bear that in mind.
  20. Hi! Complete newbie here. Looking to buy a VR6. I’ve been browsing the classified and have found one that looks quite good ‘on paper’. It’s a L-Reg 1993 VR6 and has done just under 140,000 miles with FSH. The only thing that concerns me is that in the advert it says ‘Full Replacement ABV rated engine in 2005’. Is this a common thing to have engine replaced? Should I be worried? Many thanks in advance. PS- I hope I've posted this at the right section, if not, Moderator please move.
