Do i change the plastic leavers at the end of the cables or do i connect my cables onto the heater dial unit using my existing cables? Any help would be usefull, thanks. And no its not a stright fit but with a bit of bodging itl fit in the center console...

Engine trying to escape from the bonnet....
Fulltimejunglist replied to Fulltimejunglist's topic in Engine Bay
Nice one mate, where are the other mounts on the car other than the one at the front, i tightend them, how do i work out if their broken or is it best just to change them and be safe.. Cheers. -
thankyou very much from both of you, i live in Birmingham, where abouts are you from? If not then cheers jim, will get on asap, just to sort out why my engine is eating the rest of my car....

I had a lovley suprise today to find when i changed into third my engine had jumped and dented my bonnet in many places (Lumps and paint crackage) would get pictures but its a little depressing so i really dont want too, it hit the air box and has taken the clip which hols it in place off, snapped my alternator, pulled many hoses out (All back in) Engine is a 1.8 16v Runs a little funny idle wise but i dont think it is related, my friend told me to put the handbreak on and pullforward a wee, give it a little to see if the engine moved on the mount, my mate who was watching said it jumped out by about a foot which i beleive as he was bright red and sh***ng himself, think he was happy to be alive... It has also smashed my new fan up, radiator has been knocked and its snapped the mounting point off which goes onto the slam pannel. So all in all a pretty rubbish day, as i first thought it was due to my radiator being tamperd with.... When on idle it wobbles about like hell on the mounts and i only know of the one mount at the front which ive tightend so please help me out.

Ello as you probably know i have a 1.8 16v, got it MOT'd today and i was all happy as ive spent the last few months affording to get it through .... Got it home to find out, they must have moved my radiator (They have put jubalie clips instead of one of the clamps you have to use mole grips to remove) and when i drove home my NEW fan got demolished and the mount that holds it onto the radiator too... I dont know what the mount is called, when i buy a fan as i already had i only receive blades and motor, not the mount which attatches it to the radiator. If i havnt explained it well enough, its got 3 bolts which attatch to the radiator cover. If anyone has one please contact me, if anyone knows where i can source one, again please let me know. Or any help on what to search or where i can buy one, litterally anything. Today all seemed good, mot got me grinning and then now im back where i started.... And it was brand new, never driven with ti before, jokes. Regards Aidan ---------- Post added at 09:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:58 PM ---------- Anyone? fan mount for sale? Or anyone broke these before and know where i can source one?

will fit through the grilles on the bumper at the bottom, they are jsut a little metal bracket, could make one up easily tbh, id say it can be done easily with the mk1 reg holder but you could just attatch it to some bodged up brackets, had a mk1 and plan on doing this so id say just buy one and work it out when youve got it or just get 2 strips of metal and bend 2 peices to fit somwhere in those grilles and drill a few holes to attatch the reg to it or find other location to place the bracket... You do your bumper yourself?

any progress, been consiering this for spacers on mine at the moment it would kill the arches, just cant be arsed to mess the paint up in all honsety. How much the steels place charge?

Wont start, buzzing at the fuse box/relays.
Fulltimejunglist replied to Fulltimejunglist's topic in Engine Bay
aha cheers mate, its a kr... unfortunatly. Their attatched fine but their pretty dirty, i will give them a clean tomorow when i have more time, see if that helps with things, also theres one wire which leads from my positive to underneath the engine, can i get to this easily as at the moment i cant jack my car up safley... Im asuming this would be the one i need to check but at the moment i cant get to it. Its on grass, which is wet and pretty soft... plus it doesnt start. No one seems to be able to help me with what is causing my car to not start... All wires had a live when i checked them last (As it hasnt started for about 2 months) I have no money which has left me unable to buy a new starter motor etc... I also run out of tax at the end of the month and as i have no mot so i need to fix her within the next week or two in order to actually keep her from the DVLA. -

I have checked them they seem fine plus bits on the dash work, so power is traveling to her but shes not using it to get going. What wires dd you find caused you the problem? Sorry but im not a mechanic just a dub head. Thanks for that mate, anything is better then nothing.... -
My car wont start, when i try it puts the revs too around 2krpm (Only on the clock, no noise or attempt to start wont turn over or make a noise) if i turn the ignition off the back on it come back up to around 3krpm, if i leave the key in turned to the right, it does the same, the revometer goes up to around 3krpm but wont do a thing, my fuse box buzzes, im not sure if this is a relay or soe wirigin issue i may have encounterd. I recently fitted remote centeral locking but this seemed to work fine before now, its just when she tries to go she does nothing. Is there any particular reason my fuxe box or relays would be buzzin at me? Could this be due to a particular problem? The problem started when it would only start occasionally, if i kept trying it would eventually go, now it just sits lonley with no life. I dont know if this is any help but, the digital display goes faded when it doesnt start, also my radio no longer works, which is weird as 2 days ago this worked fine, the light it on but it wont turn on or eject a cd... Have battery, plus i charged it last night.... Please, any help would be great, anythig to help me get her going again. Cheers people Aidan

What if the person being reported is innocent of danger, speeding or any crime or any sort but for instance a driver (Old man) going very slowly (25mph ish) on a 40mph road, me sitting behind, daudling at silly speeds, i will happily overtake if im legally allowed, infact i see it as a big problem on the roads as alot of muppets on the road cant drive to save their life, i dont want to sit behind some slow, usless occupent of what ever car, be it a rover or a lamboghini. I have had a man take down my reg plate for doing this on my road, i live on it, know the speed limit, its dead straight, hes technically going too slowly, why can he then go and report me stating i was speeding etc when i have actually done nothing wrong? Also, the people who drive at speeds i could walk at are generally the ones who get in a huff about it, this annoys me immensly. Another is people going round roundabouts and cutting the middle lane, thus nearly taking your passenger side off, sometimes you even need to beep to warn them so you dont crash, you do what ever the hell you can do so as not to hit them and ight beep to help inform them of their mistake and you get a finnger off an old women etc who thinks they have done no wrong as their were doing 12mph. If theres two lanes, you cut one, no matter what speed your doing your driving like a fool and you should not be on the road if you cant see the big lines in the road that we pay for to notify you of the fact its a two lane roundabout. ARHHHGHH Sorry rant over. But you know you see these on a daily occasion (Deffinatly more than i see fast, dangerous drivers) (Edit) - Or those who pull out on you and because their doing 15 mph think they have done no wrong but they dont understand that you just went to the toilet in your seat and potentially saved their life. Leaving you frustrated and them oblivious or thinking you just nearly crashed into the back of their car..... ARGHHH

Mr Sands' '95 VR (new shots 18.8.07)
Fulltimejunglist replied to Mr Sands's topic in Members Gallery
Oi, for some who cant afford splitties, borbets etc their an alright wheel. Polished up or painted black ;) 15's too so either way, if you get the arch to wheel alignment right, theres no problems with your car looking good as its sitting on the floor looking sweet as a nut anyway. :) Which is nice. (Till you move it) -
cheers for that mate, thanks alot. had another go about 10 mins ago, pretty bad as its 1.00 but needs must ay... Think i can make it work, minus the boot and only one side of the indicators.... Ill give him a bell tomorow, cheers.
-
aha cheers mate, do you have a contact for him by any chance and i will give him a shout, in this situation im the cow boy and i cant afford to pay somone and ive half fitted it but didnt want to chop into wires im not fully sure i should do. Cheers for that though, congrats on your working i think you made the right choice. Then again, i cant see it being too complicated, just a case of wanting it looking neat, being neat and not a bodge job which would continuously have problems.

I am having problems with my rcl, from what ive found here; Step 1 I need to connect the red live (vw) wire to the white wire from after market unit. Step 2 Then red/yellow(vw)to the white/black from the after market unit. Step 3 Red (vw) to the yellow,yellow/black and red wires from after market unit (All connected together?) Step 4 Ground it, Brown(vw) to black after market unit. Is this correct? Also how do i make my boot work as i have a wire from the after market unit which is suppoesd to pop my boot, where do i wire this to make it pop the boot? Nice write up, best ive found and there are no pictures, nice one. Cheers.

Ive read instalation processes i think their both in corrados, both of them seem different to my package, one fit it via using another plug to go into the cl pump and the other seems different. One sais use only 4 wires and states what number slots these are in, from what ive found ad i his picture they are umberd wrong, yellow/red is the 4th along and im sure the red black is no 8. http://www.oichan.org/mods/key/switchblade2.htm Thats one thing which has confused me another is that one person used a relay and the other didnt.... I dont have any t taps and apparently their usless so i think i will wire them straight up to it. Also he sais use only 4 wires and then said he used a 'answer back signal wire' which i dont know what it is for one, and other than the 4 main wires which are apparently live, ground, boot popper and light fasher. Which wire out of the many others am isuposed to use, the colors are also different on a couple of the wires. Basically, has anyone fitted this system and could tell me which wires are needed to make this work. Also how do i make all indicators work instead of just the one. Any information would be greatly apprechiated. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4361507 At the moment, i have the live connected, ground connected, not sure what to do with the other two, one wire is purple (Boot popper) and the other is pink (light flasher) Then ive still got another about 6-8 wires ive done nothing with? Am i doing something wrong?

Been having a little re-trim at the moment, not the best job, never done anything like this before so im still learning. I also, i know this may sound ridiculous as im doing some re trimming but i dont own a sewing machine, would like to get one but just dont have the money at the moment. As have other things needed to be done to the car - MOT Which is why my car sits not moving at the moment but as its sitting there i cant help btu have a go at some wee little improvments. This cost me, £7, cant complain really. Also had a go at a vw badge, never seen one done before, looks a bit **** because the bits which you could pull round to make it look nice are too small, because the holes are only tiny, so in the holes it looks a bit boge because you can see the grey from the origional colour of the badge. I have also done the gear stick surround thing too. Did the gear stick thing with the gator attatched to it ages ago, am planning on doing the handbrake coloum at some point this weekend. Sorry the quality of the pictures is poor...

Fair play for getting this sorted, i also hate little crappy things like those 'O's which im bound to have to meet some time soon as i want to take my head appart to look to see if there is a crack in it, pretty much am replacing the head. What do i need to know about these two little dots, if you lot are having troubles then, well, ill be stumped. I have little mechanical know how, you lot should know, you generally are my know how...
