    VR6 sunroof motor

Thanks guys for the info sorry it has taken me a while to get back - been away. I think I have the rockwell one Andy - how much do you want for it? I don't have the car at home it is still tucked up in my Mum's garage! so can't double check. Mr. Ots - do they both fit i.e. same connector? or do I need to change like for like. Cheer, Smudge. ---------- Post added at 07:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:25 PM ---------- Are they interchangeable? by any chance - don't have my car to hand. My car is '95 - the rockwell one looks like it I think!

    288mm brake set up

Anyone got 288mm brake set up they want to sell? H have been looking for a while I might just refurb the originals but everyone raves about the 288 set up.
  9. I have a few sunroof problems  I got my car re-sprayed last year and got most of the seals replaced at the same time - not cheap but worth it...or so I thought!!! I noticed when I got it back that the sunroof didn't sound great when I opened it and instead of greasing I didn't use it at all until a few weeks ago and it was intermittent but thankfully I closed it. I took the car for a drive yesterday following a few days of torrential rain and as I drove off my head got wet. I have spent a good while searching the forum and eventually took the sunroof motor off and tried to operate it - just got a click and no movement therefore thought motor done and can't have been closing roof properly? I then opened the roof manually and shut it however the seal didn't look like it would be waterproof at all and got a jug of water to test it and I got a wet head again? The roof never leaked before the new seal was fitted I wonder if I could have bought the wrong seal for an older car (my car is 1995)? I also wonder if the new seal should be silconed onto the roof - it has just been pushed on currently? Also when I put the motor back in place it did open the roof then started to slow and stop on the closing run - it was a bit stiff with the alan key. I closed it with the motor by pressing the switch but would cut out every second. I am happy to sort grease and possible motor thanks to Rpmayne for his post and Timdoc advice however more concerned about the rain getting in. Smudge ps - guttering drains are perfect - I could see water dripping through the seal.
  10. Got a couple of pic of my car as promised - not great pics as in the garage, it was snowing outside and took ages to get her parked! Think I I have got a few bits I will post on the parts section when I get them back from the paint shop. The splitter was in good order and a few badges.
  11. Haven't heard of Brickfield - First Drive charge £34 per hour plus vat which is not too bad these days, they also have all the vag group testing equipment - might be worth a call. Supercharger on either car sounds like a good idea!!
  12. Cool good to know there are other corrado owners around here - fancy the black samco hoses so think I am going to have to bight the bullet on a new set! Where do you get work done on your car around these parts? did they recommend the r32 stat. I get my car serviced in Stonehaven at First drive.
  13. In Aberdeenshire, I am going to do the samco kit at the same time - better get that ordered soon aswell - can take weeks from what I have read.
  14. Thanks gogsboy - I will get one ordered up :salute:
  15. Thanks kipvr totally agree don't need a low temp stat with standard setup. I do want to replace the stat but have read bad things here about the standard VW one not working- anyone replace theirs recently? any problems. I got the impression the r32 would fit and might be more relable (think it is the same temp as the vr6 one). Also has anyone replaced their radiator fan - any recomendations?
  16. I have spent an unhealthy amount of time searching on the forum and have decided to get the coolant system replaced when I go to stealth for the head rebuild, clutch, chains next year. I am planning to replace the crack pipe (gruvenparts) thermostat housing (both parts) including the blue, yellow and black sensors. I am also going to go for the samco hoses and new rad, with gruvenpart rad. neck. Now then! I have decided not to go for the low temp stat (live in Scotland and don't sit in traffic too often, dont want to wait 15 minutes for eng. to warm up). Really can't decided if I should go for the r32 one? - not too much feed back on the forum for this mod - or go for the normal one which has lots of bad feedback! I also wonder if while I am at it I should think about a new radiator fan - can't find too much about that? I will definitely be spent up after all that lot - decided since my car in going to be in bits and I hope to keep it for many years to come may as well get it all done at once. :D Thanks again Smudge.
  17. Hi Graham, I could do with one of your set of hoses - did you sell your last one? Regards, Smudge
  18. Stealth supplying them - 263 Cams £325 + vat
  19. Got my car booked in at Stealth this morning for next year. Going to have chains, clutch, 263 cams and head rebuild. Vince said he would check the condition of any other parts that might need replaced - I got a good deal getting all the work done at once. I asked about a Schrick manifold he said that in their experience the cam and manifold don't work that well together as they are working on similar areas of the engine - couldn't afford it anyway! Thanks again for all of the advice!!
  20. Hi Pete - thanks for that think I would consider a schrick VGI manifold but they are not cheep! and difficult to come by - a new engine is a bit of a step for me just now!!
  21. Got my car today and safely in storage - remembered to bring my camera but battery was flat so no shiny pictures - sorry. Dropped an e-mail to stealth going to go down in March probably for a head rebuild, cams, clutch, chain and tensioners. Vince said they would asses the engine condition for crack pipe and sensors - better start saving up! I have been searching for short runner intake advise any advantage here for a normally aspirated engine? can't find much.
  22. Done 104,000miles. Sounds like you need to have a look at the condition before you decide what exactly to replace. My problem is it looks like I am going to drive down to Stealth from Scotland so really want to go with a list of things to do so I don't spend a week there - my wife just gone back to university for 4 years so pockets not that deep!! - having said that I have just sold my 1969 series 2a landrover and am justifying it is ok to spend some of this money on my remaining pride and joy! Having done a few quick searches head rebuild looks like £800.
  23. Picking my car up tomorrow morning so will get some finished pictures - is there anything else I should get done at the same time as clutch, chain, tensioners, and cams?
