Saw yellow g60 yesturday in Lochmaben Scotch-land. I think it was Dan from Stranrar (spelt wrong, too early!!) Cant remember his username though to confirm. Cheers Timo

Makes a noise like nails rattling inside a tin can when the cat has gone. Is quite annoying. Had it happen on my old car. Took me ages to work out what was wrong with it. Timo

no problems. simon

If you do the other cheeky mods to the airbox aswell as installing the K&N panel filter there should be some increase. Do a search on this website to find out about the mods. Usually requires the removal of the snorkel in the airbox and a drill!! Give us a shout if you cant find anything on it. timo

sorry dude. Dont think they have them for the 1.8 16v anyway. Unless its the same size as for the g60 / 2 litre, which they could well be. timo

I was sitting earlier this evening thinking about insurance as mine is coming up for renewal in April. I remembered trying to sort insurance for my younger sister last year and how by putting an older driver as a named driver made it alot cheaper (i.e. one of your parents). So I thought I would try it out. Went to elephant.com after reading the Insurance forum, put in my details. 23yrs old, 4 years NCB, clean license. With just me on the policy for my vr6 was £711 (with all mods declared, non standard alloys, exhaust). I thought that's pretty good since I payed over a grand last year. I then put my mum as a named driver....... The quote then became £580!! Yeehaa. So when my insurance comes up in april and tesco cant beat that price, cheerio tesco, hello elephant. Hope this is of some use to you guys. Maybe some of you do that already. Ta Timo

Yeh BABY. I was well chuffed when I read that shortly after I bought my vr6 :) Timo

you're a very naughty boy!! You'll be running standard wheels though??
-
Dont you guys think that sometimes a car can perhaps have done too little miles?? If you know what I mean. I find alot of people have a real fascination with getting a car that's done a little miles as possible no matter how old it is. Say this car had perhaps done 10,000 and was 10 years old. Do you think that may have done more harm than good?? I am not saying low milage cars are not good, I just think that often other factors are overlooked when considering buying a car. Maybe the start of a big debate brewing

I've done that in my corrado. I was curious since I have 17" wheels on it. Alot of other guys had tried it with their corrados with statndard wheels. They were getting up to 8 mph under from the sat nav (real speed) than from the car's speedo. My speedo reads ~1.5 mph over the speed I am really doing. No matter what speed I do. I tested at 30, 50,60,70 & some others  I think its a really handy thing to know especially when going through towns. I never speed through towns and I know sitting at 30 on my speedo, I ain't speeding. However, if I was to be a bit cheeky I could sit just a shade under 35 on the speedo due to the 10% error given by the police and the 1.5mph error in my speedo  But I dont do that!

Does it whine when you switched the car off?? Or whilst you were still driving? Timo

Hall sender is G40 not G28. Not that it really matters
-
I'm sure I read some post on this site about lumpy idles and the guy in question had replaced the hall sender (cam position) and that had solved the problem. I know when I had my vr hooked up the the VAG thingy when I was having problems. I got error codes from the Oxy sensor and intermittent signal problems with the hall sender (G28 i think). They weren't bothered about the hall sender in the slightest but they cleared the ECU and I never really had anymore problems with performance. ta Timo

Cheers for that guys. I have pretty much given up on the idea. I would rather put the money towards other things.

Thinking about upgrading to a full cat 1 alarm system for my car. Can any of you guys give me an idea about how much more discount I am likely to get of my insurance. I live in a very low post code insurance area, but I want the keyless joy of opening my car cos i'm lazy. But I can only really justify the £180 to upgrade from just having an immobiliser if I am going to save a substantial amount of my insurance. I currently pay ~£1000 for fully comp. I've had quotes at around 700 quid when I need to renew it in April with just my cat 2 immobiliser. cheers Simon

Just wondering how much you can push the engine around in your engine bay. A bit of a random question I know but last night whilst checking my oil I thought, hey I wonder how much it moves around. So I tried pushing it left and right and back and forwards. I tried this because when I was having a look at my oil cooler from above to check there was no leaks I noticed the front engine mount rubber has sort of cleaned a few mm around the itself. Only left and right side of it. (Hope you understand what I mean) Does any of you guys have a we clean bit either side of the absorber. Just hoping it not too slack or something. Perhaps the absorbers had it?! Dont fancy replacing that bad boy. cheers timo

i'd be interested in that!! Haven't got the induction kit on at the minute. Really missing the noise though. The standard airbox just doesn't cut it. Go on, scan them! You know you want too. ta timo

So you telling me next time I come across an R32, i'll be able to kick its a$re (a little bit)!!! Bring it on. That'll wipe the smile of the face of the smug rich git driving it. Yeehaa Timo (now hunting for an R32 to beat. Only ever seen one on the road, damn!!....)

Just about fell over when they told be the price. Gonna get them off the website and then get them to fit them. Big slice of humble pie for them to chew on!! thanks for you comments. I will get them ordered just shortly cheers Simon

Do you really need re-inforced tyres for 17" wheels with low profile tyres. I am needing two new tyres for my vr6 very shortly and I am set on a pair of toyo proxes Ts1. Last time I put on some Cont. Contisport at 120 a shot. There is no way I splashing out that amount of money again. Is there many of you guys with the Toyo on 17" rims?? cheers timo

The website http://www.needforspeed.co.uk has a special offer on for K&N panel filters if anyone is interested. They have them for the vr6, g60 and 8v corrado. Only this is, is the postage is 8 quid which I think is a rip hence I haven't bought one yet. (Need 2 tyres first). ANyway I hope this information will help someone save a few bob. P.S. Look in the special offers section to find them cheers Timo
