  1. Dude - no excuse, that clutch has been dead for ever and a day! Secondly, Sam - I feel hurt. What about the Red one on its belly that drives every day around p'boro?
  2. Very simple job to do, but probably a bit awquard if your doing it on the floor - purely because you need to get under it. So make sure its well supported! 1) Remove the trim around the handbrake lever 2) Undo the lock nuts at the handbrake lever end 3) Push them through a bit from the lever end, if you can 4) Get underneath and unhook them from the callipers (should be very easy to do with them taken off the lever allready) 5) Work your way back towards the lever and get the cable out of the clips that always snap 6) Pull the cables out and onto the floor. 7) You will probably need to transfer the gold sleeves from your old cables onto your new ones 8) Re-fit as reverse to removal 9) Adjust as required 10) - You still wont be able to do handbrake turns ;)
  3. Dont know why everyone complains about the heater matrix so much... I mean its not a nice job but its fairly straight forward... Dash out, old one out - new one in, dash back in. Takes about 4 hours first time round... Worst job ive done is clutch master and slaves, not through difficulty - but because you have to bend at stupid angles to get the master out, and then bleed... bleed... bleed... bleed... bleed... I hate bleeding.

    4 wheel alignment

I had to take mine to a bodyshop to have it done as my local garages didnt have the equipment to fit a lowered car. I think its the way that they attatch their equipment to the wheel, some hang over the top of the tyre and some attatch to the side of the wheel but the lasers still need to talk to each other. When I had my 4 wheel done they could only do so much, because it had been lowered on coilovers the camber and caster etc would have been compeltely to pot and aparently nothing they can do. Cost me £60 in total.
  5. Sounds like a lot more than I paid for mine from GSF but I could be wrong. Yeah its a fiddly job to do, I would recommend changing the slave cylinder aswell at the same time, purely because these appear to be prone to going, and I would imagine with the extra pressure a new master cylinder will be giving - it wont be long until the slave goes too. Not only that but you've got air in the system from fitting the MC, so why not just get it all over and done with at once? Can you tell I realy realy hate bleeding?
  6. Yes if you simply use the sidelight bulb hole / bulb holder it will still flash as its the indicator relay that makes them flash. Make sure the bulb is right for it and you can just plumb the sidelight into the indicator circuit to make it flash. As long as its after the relay. Secondly I always thought you had to have sidelights for MOT purposes, but the modern cars with headlights always on only have dipped and high beam, no sidelights so im not realy sure... It might be one of those "If its fitted its gotta work" type jobbies.
  7. Replied in that thread! But need to know when I should be hammering to the hard shoulder for a well earned drink for both me and the rado! Otherwise I might not get anywhere near!
  8. What temperature should my 1.8 16v be running at? And at what point should I panic and pull off the road?! Going to RTTS in a weeks time and want to know! Cheers!
  9. Subframe may well have been changed when he put the bits on, but I was told they were G60 bits... Surely a GSF wishbone wouldnt be that badly wrong? Its not like badly machined, it just doesnt fill the hole - so its wrong, not badly made... There wasnt anything that came off with the old wishbone though, surely if it had a sleeve it would either come out with the old one and make me think "What was that!?" or have stayed in there and it all fit together fine...
  10. Bit of an odd one... 1990 Rado, went for MOT last week and failed on wishbone bushes - had a look, front bush was mullered and could move side to side... Got a replacement wishbone complete with bushes from GSF and fitted it. All seemed ok but after driving home I noticed it wandering like mad. Got home and jacked it up and you can pull the wheel side to side still, had a quick look and the front wishbone mount is still allowing side to side movement... When I bought the car I was told it had some G60 parts at the front end, but he couldnt tell me what. So I thought maybe I needed a G60 wishbone, but as I expected, they are the same. So the brand new wishbone and bush still moves side to side in the front mount... Anyone else had this? Is it possible that the mount itself has stretched? So the bush will always be loose? Please excuse my ignorance because I havent had a chance to have a better look underneath it since, so if its something obvious then I will hold my hands up
  11. Trying to replace the outer cv joint on my corrado (1.8 16v) and I dont know how to get the driveshaft out of the car, or how to get the old cv joint off! Any advice? Please!
