Make:VW Model:Corrado VR6 Colour:Flash Red Year:1995 Engine size:2900 Fuel type: Petrol Transmission:Manual Mileage:138156 MOT:10/2014 Tax:02/2014 The time has come for me to sell my Corrado VR6. I have owned this car for approximately 2.5 years and covered about 8000 miles in that time. It has always been my second car and only really used during the summer months. I originally travelled down to Preston to purchase this car as it was in very good good condition. Summary of work that has been done while in my care:- 22/03/2011 - Gwagenz, Alloa Full Service / Inspection Renewed engine oil & filter (Used Forte Clean & Protect System) Renewed Spark Plugs & HT Lead Set Replaced Fuel Filter Checked / Adjusted Rear Wheel Bearings Checked /Topped Up All Fluid Levels 22/05/2011 - Trix, Dunfermline Fitted a replacement clutch using VW parts Replaced rear engine mount Checked timing chain and fitted replacement guides Fitted Second Hand Auxiliary Water Pump 08/2011 Fitted 2nd hand MAF as car was misfiring 21/09/2012 - Trix, Dunfermline Oil Service Spark Plugs Coolant Flush Cata Clean Flush MOT 24/09/2013 - Kilgannon Motors, Bannockburn Carried out full vehicle health check Replaced 5 brake pipes due to being excessively corroded for MOT Carried out engine service, replaced engine oil and filter Replaced spark plugs Replaced Anti Freeze Fitted ignition leads (supplied by customer, purchased from Dubpower) MOT Prior to me purchasing the car the previous owner (a user on Corrado.net) had the following work carried out:- 05/03/2010 Replaced radiator using VW Parts (cost £343.90) 25/11/2009 - Awesome, Manchester Purchase and fitting of Milltek Center section and Rear Silencer Exhaust Purchase and fitting of Weitec Hicon GT Coilover Kit 4 Wheel Alignment Total over £1K Good Bits - Quiet VR6 Engine which does not burn oil - Electric windows and mirrors (all work) - Electric Sunroof which tilts and slides - Electric rear spoiler which goes up at 55mph, down at 10mph - can also be operated manually - Milltek Exhaust - Weitec Coilovers - Lupo wiper conversion - Uprated headlight loom (means you can now see in the dark) - Full leather interior - Alpine stereo with ipod connection - 4 x Kumho tyres which have only done 2-3K miles - Brake pipes replaced as part of MOT (12 months MOT until 10/10/2014) - Heater works on all speed settings - MFA works on all settings - Comprehensive service history Not So Good Bits (unfortunately every 18 year old car has some and I am just being honest) - ABS light occasionally comes on (as per pic). This is worse when it has been sat for a while but after a few trips it works as normal, light comes on and goes out (think it is a duff sensor as it has been looked at before but car has passed 3 MOT's with the intermittent problem). - Slight knock from the exhaust which has only just started happening, looks like it needs a new rubber hanger - Speedline wheels could do with a refurb but all are straight / hold air (these were my winter wheels) - Heater works on all speed settings but not direction settings, common Corrado problem which I think is related to cables - Some of the lights on the dash (around heater controls, cigarette lighter) don't work - never bothered me tbh I am not really in a rush to sell and don't really want to but my wife hates the car so needs must. I have 2 sets of wheels which could be sold with the car at additional cost (16" Lenso BSX in very good condition with stretched tyres, 16" polished Porsche Teledials with metal centre caps and adapters - no tyres. Hi mate, It did start working again but not really sure how, just checked all connections and made sure they properly connected and itjust sprang back in to life
-
Thanks Cazza, will give that a shot.

Hi, Looking for the metal bracket that the backbox hangs on as mine seems to be damaged so the backbox is cable tied on and starting to knock against the rear bumper. Cheers, Peter
-
Hi Mate, I will take the grill, can you PM a price to post to Central Scotland please?
-
Cheers for the advice, sounds like a staggered set may be the way to go then (either that or stick on my teledials with adapters)
-
Yeh, spotted a complete set of 9's for sale locally at a decent price and just wondered if they would bolt straight on? Am running weitec coilovers and noticed that most people run a staggered set, just wondering if that is because of clearance issues at the front with the width?
-
Still looking for one of these, anyone got one available?
-
Thanks for this Jim. Just had the car MOT'd but still getting the metallic noise and creaking so will check out the anti roll bar bushes and drop links.

Help! My VR6 has just started misfiring and was wondering how best to work out what the fault is? The problem seems to be worse when initially starting the car where it will almost stall and then seems to run fine once it is going. I did replace the MAF last year so am hoping it is not that but was wondering if it could be the coilpack instead? Have checked the coilpack and can't see any obvious cracks etc. Cheers, Peter

How easy are 9j Borbet A's to fit on a VR6, would they need arch mods / arches rolled? Cheers, Peter

Got a set of these on my VR6 with 195/45 tyres (can hopefully see a pic here):- http://www.scottishvag.net/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=78814&p=685395#p685395

Hi, Has the number plate plinth been sold? -
Hi mate, Thanks for the pics. Unfortunately I was really looking for one with all the pegs intact as my existing one is in similar condition to yours. Cheers
-
Yep, that is what I am looking for. If you can remove it and post a pic that would be great, cheers
-
As per title, looking for a rear number plate plinth in good condition as mine is pretty broken (must have pegs intact)
-
Interested in this post as I have exactly the same symptoms on my VR6 including the metallic noise when I am reversing. Car is going in to the garage in a couple of weeks time so will get em to check the the anit roll bar bushes.

Checked this out today and when I looked at the fuse box there was a cable with green connector hanging and what appeared to be the other end (blue connector). Plugged them together and took a spin up the street and the speedometer moved a bit and then did nothing. Is this the right connector to check and if plugging this in does not work am I looking at a new speed sensor?
-
Thanks will check these both out (when it stops raining)
-
Hi, As per the title was out in the VR6 today in torrential rain when I hit a fairly large pothole that I couldn't see. Pulled over afterwards to check all was OK as it had put the abs light on and when I started off again I noticed that my speedometer had stopped working. The speedo and mileometer are both kaput so was just wondering what I should be checking first to try and identify what the problem is? Thought it might be as simple as a fuse or sensor but am not really sure what I should be looking for - any ideas? Cheers, Peter

Thanks for the replies, radiator etc was all replaced before I bought the car just over a year ago so think it is OK. Haven't had the heater matrix done but was wondering if it could be one of the pipes just due to the small amount of coolant that leaks out?
-
Hi, Got a bit of strange problem with my corrado vr6 where it intermittently loses some coolant. It doesn't happen very frequently but has now happened about 3 times in the last 6 months, the most recent was today where I had top it up with about 250ml. I had the car checked by garage a few months ago and they ran it for nearly an hour and couldn't find any leaks from the cooling system. Somebody else I spoke to mentioned that there is a plastic flexi pipe towards the back of the engine that can perish and leak coolant when under pressure sometimes. Just wondered if this was correct as there is no other evidence of coolant leaking on my drive or if anyone else knew what could be causing this problem? Cheers, Peter
