  1. Thanks! Already trying to get a North East meet going. Having been away a while and now having read a lot of the topics on here, I think as the Corrado gets older the owners get more dedicated :)
  2. I left the Corrado scene back in 2003 for the same reasons having had two. Now I'm a bit older and have a bit more cash and a garage, the plan is to own this one I have now for some time but not get obsessed (hard I know) just enjoy it and when it breaks, pay someone to fix it. I wouldn't want one as my daily driver though, too old now
  3. Hi, thanks for your moments guys. I agree with stonejag in that the fancy leads are just snake oil. So was Bly planning on getting some cheap ones. Could you point me in the direction of a link for the basic settings wiki? I have VCDS, do I need the 2x2 converter for is car? It is a 1993 but with coil pack rather than dizzy. One thing I need to check is the plugs as I remember my old vr6 didn't like it when I ran plugs that we not to the original spec (platinum I think they were and £60 a set?) I used some from ECP and it ran rough. When I say rough, I mean only a bit. It runs fine when accelerating etc and doesn't stall. Half the time the idle is very smooth but sometimes I get a shudder felt. The car has vibratechnics mounts and so it could just be that. It also has a cone filter which I have heard can make them run a bit rough.
  4. Thanks for the recomendation, they have some good stuff on their website! Condition looks OK but the fact that they are not a matching set makes me suspect that a lead or 2 has failed and been replaced individually. My car has the coil pack but it looks pretty new and I have a receipt in the history for it having been replaced. So I suspect it is leads or plugs.
  5. My car has what looks to be a mixed set of HT leads. They are all Black but 4 have a mat finish and some serial numbers in White but no brand. 2 of them are shiney Black finish and have Bosch written on them. My guess is that this is a mixed set? The reason I ask is that the car sometimes has a slightly rough idle, nothing major but you notice it in contrast to when it is running smoothly. The previous owner changed the TB, intake pipe to Maf and checked for leaks etc and then changed the throttle damper (dash pot) and that fixed it, mostly. I remember that my old vr6 had a little bump on idle that was down to duff HT leads so wondering if it could be the case with this? Cheers Ron
  6. I'm in Newcastle and again, happy to travel up to an hour. Best place to meet would be somewhere is south Tyneside/north Yorkshire. Probably not the ideal time of year to start this but let's see how many peeps we can get :) Lilfuzzer: yep bought Mooks car, she's a peach and just needs a little tidying.
  7. Would live to see some pics! The car is in very good nick, surprising for 19yrs old
  8. Just to resurrect this ancient thread....I was searching on google on the past plates my car has held and this is one of them!
  9. Everyone returns in the end....I was a corrado obsessive, had two in a row....went to pretty much every CCGB meet going, used to post guides to the old Yahoo groups etc Left corrados behind for 10 years but then started to get withdrawal like some kind of junkie.....back on the crack now
  10. My brain tells me that I should take mine off the road too, it is a second car so not needed but as I've only had it 2 weeks....my heart says no, I can't bring myself to do it yet :) It's taxed until April and insured so I'd save a good wedge by putting on Sorn
  11. Hi all, I bought a fairly well known car to the forum from Mookie a couple of weeks back. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?71045-My-First-Corrado-Bye-Bye-Mk2-Golfs!-Hello-VR6!&highlight=Mookie He's got her most of the way there now but still a few jobs for me to get stuck into. * headlights are terrible, new loom on order (made a huge difference on my oth raddos) * heater direction switch gets stuck halfway, likely foam stuck in the flap on the heater box? * lights on heater controls are very dim * Speakers are missing from the rear of the car, has components in the front * drivers door card is really badly fitted and some tool has glued the plastic frame around the door pull to the leather :( * DDI gauges loose power to the lighting every now and again, Suspected bad earth * everything in the interior creaks, have bought a big roll of adhesive felt * the car is tooooo low (ride is horrible) and the skinny stretched tyres are terrible. Plan to raise it 10-15mm and put 205 40 17 tyres on the comps * looking for a standard vr6 steering wheel * bonnet has a dent in it at the very front, golf ball sized. Need either a bonnet from a donor car or some time in the body shop. Aside from that, she is is very good shape. Probably as good as my last 2 corrados and they were half the age at the time. Will post pics and I get through it!
  12. This is pure awesomeness, great work!
  13. Would like to meet up with fellow owners, maybe even get a regular meet going if there are enough of us. UPDATE: Looks like we have some decent numbers interested and I've spoken to a few others who aren't on this thread so I'm building a list of people's locations below so we can work out a convenient location. If you haven't already stated your location in thread, can you pm or post location please. 14. Incredible thread, I've seen some mods in my time but this is hardcore.......looking forward to seeing it finished!
  15. Mine has a dent and so probably cheaper to buy a used one than to get it fixed and sprayed
  16. I have exactly the same problem by the sounds of it, please give us an update as to how you get on. Cheers Ron
  17. Me too, if price is right then I have a RHD 1993 late type.
  18. I think 1200-£1400 is what they cost new back in the day!
  19. Hi, What brand are the tyres and how much tread left? Thanks
  20. Sorry Jim, need to get to know everyone's usernames. Thanks a lot for taking the time to dig that membership number out, much appreciated! Also thanks for the warm welcome guys! Sadly the Khaki one was never seen again, it was basically stolen while I was at work in the day and one of my mates even texted me at the time to say "just saw you drive past, didn't you see me?" that should have raised an alarm bell as mine was the only one I'd ever seen in that colour, (with mushroom leather) but I didn't twig until I got home. It was crashed later than night in SW London, Streatham, according to witnesses it was bad but as the police didn't recover the car (just left it) it was stolen again that night by some guys with a truck.....never seen again. Wonder how much a VSR manifold sells for now? :( ---------- Post added at 11:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 PM ---------- I live up in Newcastle now but back then I lived in Dulwich, London. Good times :)
  21. Cheers Jim, I've been longing for another one ever since but life just didn't really give me a good oportunity until lately. The car feels so farmiliar to me and getting back onto the forums has been great. The CCGB guys have even dug out my old membership number for me ;) Looking forward to getting involved!
