  1. Thats why I asked originally as my old 16V had some 16" and I had 45 profile on them which were supposed to be the best size.
  2. Hi all, I was having an intermittent flickering issue with the DDI gauges and unfortunately, when I opened the clocks up, I found that all 3 faces have got the electrical connection coming away from the EL dial face and the speedo one is totally peeled away :( I'm not actually a massive fan of them anyway as I think they look a bit cheap and so I'm looking for a donor set of clocks that I can pilfer the faces and bulb holders from to return this clock pod back to standard (the dials themselves work just fine) Anyone got an old clock pod for sale? Cheers Ron
  3. Oh man, they do look nice......hmmmmm I'm afraid tha I must resist. The TT comps look great on my car but possible a little too gangster for me. Good luck with the the sale, they look great.
  4. Thanks for confirming! Any pic of them onthe car....I'm kind of tempted ;)
  5. Just to clarify, shouldn't 16" have 45 profile tyres in order to match the original rolling radius? I have 40 profile on my 17"s
  6. I'm after a drivers side head light for a late 93 vr6, plus drivers and passenger side door glass provided not scratched. I have some nasty chrome tint on mine that it will be easier to just change the glass. Sadly I can't take the whole doors, no space. Will you split? And what price?
  7. Good job mate, I have a blackberry myself and I'm steadily working my way through it. This is a real inspiration!
  8. Mine is working but creaking big style, I'll have a new one as I fear this one is about to go. Cheers Ron
  9. Door handle trims please and the boot trim fixings, pm sent
  10. That's what I figured, use a heat gun or hair dryer and then solvent on the glass. My big fear though is the boot glass as the heater element may get damaged?
  11. Hi guys, My car has some kind of nasty chrome effect tint applied to the windows, the back window is hard to see through as it makes the glass blurry and also out of my two front side windows, only one has the tint applied (looks like one window was replaced) and the one that has tint, has a nick in it. I'm thinking of removing the tint but no idea how easy that would be?
  12. If this group buy runs again then I'd like a set for my VR too. Need to get my bonnet reps rayed so this would be ideal to do at the same time.
  13. yeah that sounds right, when the car is cold, if you change too quick from 1-2 then there is a bit of notchy-ness, not a crunch but you can tell somthing isn't mechanically ready :) All fine after 10 mins driving
  14. The car has a vibratechnics upfront and has had the other mounts done this year. The problems stops as soon as the box is warm which suggests it is a problem with the box? We are talking really subtle, totally livable but would be nice to fix.
  15. The VR has a bit of a notchy gear change in 1-2nd when cold, no crunch but you can feel somthing not going into place smoothly. I remember that I changed the gear oil in my 16v ages ago and that improved things but can't remember the oil type, does anyone here know? I also remember that I had the cables adjusted at a garage and that also improved things but my guess is thati could do this myself. Are there any good DIY tips? Thanks Ron
  16. Dom Landino, I haven't seen him since we all went to Bournemouth on the **** back in 2002' that was a funny night. Guy Heartly wound Alex Posegill up so bad ;) I spoke to Alex briefly on the UK passats forum back when I had a B5.5 in 2009. He had a monster s4 powered one! What about David Wort, Guy Heartly, John Munyard etc? ---------- Post added at 11:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:10 PM ---------- At some point they had their own "speciality" website but it is long gone now......she must must be as old as me now
  17. I did a search for threads with my name in and even though I left the group back in 2003 whe it was still a yahoo group, there were a few threads reminiscing..... Dawsons mrs and her mate "Nikki Noo" fun times ;)
  18. Any of the guys from this ancient thread still about? I miss those old days! :)
  19. I inherited a 1972 beetle back in 1994.....found a 20 deck of Benson's in the glovebox and as i was a poor student that smoked at the time, I sparked one right up. The fags must have been at least 10 years old and just burst into flames when lit.........still smoked them all though, carefully ;)
  20. My old car, sold in 2002......just found some old pics and wondered if anyone has it?
  21. Hey! thanks for that :) Looked very nice in those days, still does now. The engine looks pretty much unchanged apart from the battery jacket is missing now and the bonnet stay clips are all broken and so I just keep it in the boot (anyone know where i can buy new ones?) The exhaust is now a Miltek oval whihc looks better than the one in these pics IMO Those wheels looked very nice though, I like the TT comps but they are too big and the ride suffers, the stretch tyres done help. I am going to raise the car a bit and then put normal profile tyres on soon. It is great to be able to peice the cars history together as I now have pics from 3 different owners
  22. Any dates in mind? The weather is closing in so what ever we choose, there is a good chance it will be ****ing it down.....or snowing ;) I can do, 18th Nov 2nd Dec 8/9th Dec 15/16th Dec
  23. Sorry, I kicked this thread off and then went quiet ;) things are hectic at work right now. Totally agreed that a nice spot with good roads and pub would be ideal. I know loads of places up here in Northumbria but not much south of Durham. I think we have enough folks to make a decent mini meet.....any suggestions on location?
