  1. Rattly.. :awesome: Not to bad at all actually.. Very stiff but not bone crunching. No bangs or clenching my arsehole when going over bumps or pot holes which is always a good sign.
  2. Yep, exactly the same as them. I did see the little allen key. So I will need a KW/Weitec specific C-Spanner with a rounded end then? I'll contact Weitec.
  3. I have some Weitec coilovers which came on my Corrado.. The car didn't come with the C-Spanner. I have a generic C-Spanner which doesn't fit at all because these coilovers have a plastic adjuster ring which has rounded grooves in. Do the Weitecs have a specific C-Spanner or...? Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I have a used but mint sump and brand new gasket for my old 8v golf.. I think it's the same? In fact I'm sure it is. If you're real lucky I may have a spare oil pump lying about. But you'd be surprised how damaged a sump can get and not touch the pump.. It's just sat taking up precious space, so cover the cost of postage and I'll post it up. Can't get any fairer than that. I expect cuddles at the next national meet though! :camp:
  5. This is my concern. Other than physically removing the pulley how else can I check? Surly if the pulley had play it would be apparent in the crank/cam/flywheel timing marks?
  6. All fixed! Got to the car this morning, double checked the timing and it was all spot on.. I just advanced the timing a tiny bit and got it to idle. No more glowing manifold, managed to set the timing and idle. She now purrs like a kitten and idles spot on. It's weird how sometimes just letting a car settle overnight can fix things.. Strange how it happened though. Whether something was in the ECU's memory or a vacuum pipe was leaking or even the new dizzy gave a strange signal to the ECU which had gone by the morning? It's like the car settled overnight not being used. At least my car's got character!
  7. Well looking at the front of the car/engine the ecu vacuum hose goes to the upper left nipple. I.e furthest away from the passenger side. Which is correct I think?
  8. Yeah, maybe. But not after a few mins of idle from cold. It never did it before and it's glowing really red, almost see through! I could imagine after a good tanning it starting to glow. Just not this quickly. :( Today I'm going back to basics, removing the TB again to see if I missed anything; checking the timing and maybe even the crank pulley. Anything else I should check?
  9. I have a supersprint 4-1 stainless manifold and G-Werks exhaust system. So no cat.
  10. Well It didn't do it before at all. Well the first time I timed it up after the headgasket. But actually thinking; the car's idle has been playing up recently as of late and I have noticed the car's oil running a little hotter than normal over the past few days. Whether it's the same thing and I'm only just noticing now or I'm being over paranoid. Who knows? I'm hoping it's nothing serious like the crank pulley. Edit: Stevo.. I will make sure, but I think that's what I did. ---------- Post added at 08:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:44 PM ---------- Just a thought, if the crank pulley had sheared would my static timing still be ok? Surely it would be out?
  11. A realistic 200bhp I would say. 220bhp on a very optimistic, good day maybe? It's getting a rolling road set up in the next month so I will know for sure. The baffled sump won't add any power, just cool the oil ever so slightly and stop oil starvation on fast corners. I only fitted it as it came on a spare engine I have.
  12. Yep, done that and still the same which is what baffled me.. Saying that, the centre of the rotor or at the start/end? I wouldn't have thought it made a difference.
  13. Today I tried to cure my poor idle so I removed the throttle body and gave it a clean along with renewing the vacuum lines and making sure they were good etc. I also re-newed the seal in the idle screw and cleaned out the ISV. At the same time I put on a new Bosch dizzy which I've had lying about for ages (the rest of the ignition system is brand new, so why not I thought.) Anyway started the car and as it was idling to get it to temp I noticed the exhaust manifold glowing cherry red. Not good. Played about with the ignition timing for a little I couldn't get it right so swapped back to my old dizzy. Still the same problem. I can't actually time the car up properly as the manifold glows bright red before I can get the car up to temp and time it. Eeeek. The cam/crank timing are spot on and I haven't touched them. Any ideas? Could it be a massive vacuum leak causing this or is my ignition timing massively out? What do I do!!?
  14. Hmmm.. As long as they don't break or wear prematurely. Changing parts like this is a ball-ache as tracking needs doing afterwards.
  15. Jabba sport have mixed reviews, some people love them others have had issues with 'apparent' work done. I.e. Having a charger ported only to find out it's not been, or a poor job etc. I have never used them personally but avoided them because of poor reviews; just do a quick search and make your own opinion up. G-Werks are highly regarded among the G60 Community for their level of excellent work. But customer relations have slipped drastically in the past few months according to a few people. I have had experience with this first hand and thus I cant recommended them as a company, although I'm sure other people will. Once again do a search on G-werks and make your own mind up. SNS chips are very good quality too, they have an anti-lag feature which reduces the digi-lag some people experience. Most companies will have different chips for all different mods. I actually have a G-werks Eprom in mine but soon will try an SNS chip as I have fitted some new mods so now have some flat spots. Best bet is do have a little search on the different companies and see what reviews you like. In my experience most products from the likes of Jabba, G-Werks, SNS, BBM are all of similar quality, it's just from time to time you get a bad one or poor service and someone screams about it.
  16. Yeah, I use VW spares all the time.. Are the Pattern parts as good quality as OE stuff though? I know pattern parts are hit and miss and I don't want to do this job again in 6 months time etc.
  17. I'm putting in a fresh subframe/wishbones with new poly bushes all around on my G60, so I might as well change the tie rods and bottom ball joints at the same time. Are OE preferred or will pattern parts from GSF etc suffice? Such as febi etc?
  18. I'm after a decent throttle body with known working switches.. If it's ported that'd be even better! Also after a known working ISV.. Must buzz/vibrate on ignition. Both for a G60.. Cheers!! :thumbleft:
  19. On the back of the G60 throttle body there are two outlets for the vacuum lines. One for the ECU map sensor, one for... I'm assuming the charcoal canister (mines been removed so this outlet is blanked) Anyway, which outlet is for the ECU or does it not matter? ---------- Post added at 09:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:29 AM ---------- Ignore me.. Found this thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?55077-G60-Vacuum-Hoses&highlight=throttle+body
  20. I'm after some winter-ish tyres for my G60.. I say winter-ish as they will be fitted in the next few weeks and plan to stay on until spring next year (or when the sun comes back out again). 205/40/17. I'm stuck between: Uniroyal Rainsport 2's - Purely because they are designed for wet use and are a fair price. & Continental Sport Contact 3 - Because they are an awesome tyre and I swear by sport contacts (I've tried SC1 and SC2 so want to try these). Thoughts?
  21. All of my vacuum hoses have been replaced last month with proper VAG stuff at the correct length. The ISV's I tried were MK2 GTi items which might explain why they didn't work. I've also cleaned out my ISV and adjusted the close on it with the hidden screw. No joy. Yep, unplugged the blue temp to set the idle. I'll try the idle switch tonight and try to locate a replacement ISV.. Anyone got one?
  22. I'm struggling to get a correct idle on my G60. I followed the correct procedure. Timing is spot on, CO seems correct. But the idle fluctuates. One day it'll idle at 800rpm, another day it'll idle at 1100rpm. And it always fluctuates no matter what. I've tried 3 different ISV's, none buzz though, they all click? These are known working ISV's too!? Idea's? Also, how do I test the idle switch on the throttle body? Is it like on the MK2 GTi where I can rev it to 2k ish, press the switch and see if the revs drop?
