  1. Don't get me wrong - I'd settle for standard ride height & comfort if it was possible!
  2. It would be interesting to hear from anyone has has driven on both the B12s & the Koni STR.Ts. From what I can make out the Konis might be a bit less firm.
  3. Thanks. I think Demon Tweeks has the set for £365:56 inc delivery. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/suspension-kits/car/volkswagen/corrado-vr6/1995/2-9/koni-str-t-suspension-kit-lowers-front-30mm-and-lowers-rear-30mm
  4. I don't mind up to about a 30mm drop as Corrados came out of the factory on stilts :bonk: but definitely nothing on the firm side.
  5. As above, need this sorted for a purchase hopefully very soon. Nothing hard at all. I'd like OEM quality ride for a daily driver 4000-5000 miles per year. Does such a setup exist off the shelf, or are all kits designed for trackday specials? Both Bilstein B12's & AP coilovers have been suggested to me, supporters of both saying the other is too hard! Confused much?
  6. Pending the purchase of a VR6 towards the end of the month, please provisionally put my name down for a B12 kit. :)
  7. I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to firm suspension. Looks like it's a straight up choice between Bilstein B12's & the H&R comfort kit....
  8. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/suspension-kits/car/volkswagen/corrado-vr6/1995/2-9/hr-comfort-suspension-kit-lowers-front-40mm-and-lowers-rear-40mm H&R Comfort Suspension Kit Volkswagen Corrado VR6 1995 2.9 Anyone using it? Quite like my teeth & spine so I'm after modest lowering & a supple, near OE ride. Would especially like to see a photo of the ride height after this kit has had a chance to settle.
  9. Nothing like a nice bit of post bodyshop bling. Looking forward to this. Also, how is the ride with your Sachs dampers & -30mm H&R springs as opposed to OEM?
  10. Just take a look at the for sale ads on here over the last year or 2 to gauge availability. Blue Storms & regular VR6's appear in flurries every few months it seems. Be patient & you'll get the right one. It would be pointless to buy the first one you see that meets a few of your needs but you're not 100% about & then let the car you were after all along slip through your fingers.... I waited 6 months to get the right Astra GTE 16v, flew up to Scotland to buy it & drive it 520 miles back down South. Had the car for nearly 4 years & it's one of the very best in the UK now. I could have easily bought 5 or 6 rotters during that time if I lacked the patience. Unless you have vast cash reserves with an equally strong sense of nostalgia & fancy bringing back from the scrapper, are particularly handy with the spanners or have 'mates rates' welding & spraying available, what's the point?
  11. On a slight tangent, it does seem strange that far more green Storms come up for sale than the blues considering presumably there are similar numbers of both still going. Maybe I'm imagining things though. The Storm's mostly badging.... you could always go for a leathered-up blue & it would certainly give you more choice re history, mileage & overall condition.
  12. Ok thanks. I've got B4's on my current daily & they seem perfectly reasonable. Just need to think about which springs. Haven't bought the car yet, but pretty much betting any purchase will have rock hard suspension.
  13. Anyone? Is there a Bilstein/Eibach combo similar to the stock setup but maybe lowered a touch? I'm after ideas for something neither wallowy nor crashy for daily driving.
  14. Can anyone please give me advice as to what would be the most similar to OE & value for money non-adjustable spring/shock combination for a VR6? I'm after info on something that replicates the standard set-up for daily driving.
  15. Just been looking through this thread the last few days. Amazing work!
  16. This Storm was 30 mins away & I was going to try to look at it soon. The seller seemed like a really nice, genuine guy. He kept on top of the mechanicals for 9 years but unfortunately let the various bodywork jobs slide. I showed the photos to my local bodyshop & I hope you can get a decent job done for a lot less than they quoted me! Just think though - once the bodywork is up to scratch you'll have a great car
  17. I asked about one on Autotrader & the seller was fairly convinced his was the last Storm off the production line. However apparently N387 CWL, the last Storm produced, was sent straight to the VW museum as shown in this old Top Gear clip
  18. Congrats on your purchase. :thumbleft: My own quest continues!
  19. Interesting article about list prices from years ago vs the value of new cars today: http://www.autocar.co.uk/blogs/anything-goes/what-would-yesterdays-cars-cost-today
  20. Don't know about main dealer history, but as a last resort as the current owner she can apply to the DVLA for a list of previous owners. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/v888-request-by-an-individual-for-information-about-a-vehicle I did this in 2012 & I just gave my reason as being interested in what is now quite a rare model & mentioned that I'm a member of the owners club. Have to say though, I was very impressed. Basically you get a letter of explanation followed by a list of all previous owners on one page in the format.... Keeper: Date of Acquisition: Date of Disposal: Name: Address: Then you also get photocopies of all the previous V5's! This could help piece together the history of the car in question.
  21. Ok £20k seems quite expensive for a sports coupé, but in 1994/95 a Ford Probe 24v was £20,350 Nissan 200SX £20,000 & the Corrado VR6 £20,499 according to Autocar Sept 1994. Top Gear Aug 1994 has the following list prices; Ford Probe V6 £19,350 Toyota Celica GT £20,617 & Corrado VR6 £20,499. So it's seemingly competitively priced (especially since the Probe was total crap) and don't forget, there was a worldwide fall in car prices in the late 1990's/early 2000's.
  22. Thanks. Saves me a trip. Had my Mk2 Astra GTE rusty O/S inner & outer wheel arch & O/S lower rear quarter panel sorted last year by my local bodyshop for £850. Don't really want to blow £1500 into bodywork on a car straight away, before even starting on servicing & mechanicals. Dreamers who sell these cars always say the same stuff "oh it's only a bit of rust, but they all do that & it'll only be a few hundred quid to sort". Well if that's the case why not get it sorted before you sell? Long term neglect on the bodywork & no service history since 2007. Ahm oot.
  23. I'd appreciate that. Also how it runs & if you can take it on a test drive :)
  24. Oh ok, thanks. Car is in Salisbury now & I thought you meant another member who lives there. Shame that thread is edited because there seems to be virtually no history for M85 MWP.
  25. Couldn't find it looking at Kip's started threads profile. He's certainly in the right location for this though. I'd have a look but it's a 5+ hour round trip & as I say, the car's been on blocks for several years according to the seller....
