1. it's entirely down to your personal experience. i work for my local dealer as a service tech, and about 70% of the techs are flawless, and the rest, not so much. same with so called specialists. ive worked on vehicles from vw specialist places, with all sorts of butchery and **** going on. you need to find somewhere that you can make a relationship with. either dealer/chain/private etc doesnt matter. but its what you find acceptable in the situation. there's a few older cars that come into us, and its got to a point where they ask for me because of the relationship built and i know them and their car. sometimes it is worth travelling to find a place suitable. its a hugely varied industry, but dont tar everyone with the same brush.
2. depends on the style of wheel. i had to make some 'adjustments' when fitting my 15 schmidts over standard vr brakes.
3. so i can run four wheel camber so extra scene points ha. thank you very much, but its all about the hard stance imo. people say this, and ive spoken to people with a tiny drop and they smash their sumps. i guess youve got to be super aware when you're driving. my corrados my daily so im very use to it. the coilovers are stiff as anything though so the only movement is in the sidewall (which is much) so this stops me from bouncing around. that sounds like a good idea. i'll be ripping it apart over winter anyway so i'll keep this updated. thanks for the responses.
4. thanks i already knew of this, but wont the weaker alloy sump shatter with the first impact. the current steel one is taking quite a battering and still holding up. plus its hella expensive! this was what i thought :( these mk3 boys are laughing with their clearance. again, i thought this. if they're the original mounts, theyre probably a little past their best. 20mm would be alright. dont poly bushes have a repuation to shake everything to **** on idle? :(
5. (didnt know if this should be in drivetrain section, so please move if necessary) evening. need some help regarding engine mounts. basically, my corrado is very low. its a late vr, and there's about an inch or so clearance from the subframe/floor. plans over winter are to get it a little lower. i know lots of people dont agree with this, but please dont reply with 'raise your car then' etc, as thats not very helpful. obviously sump clearance is and issue, but if i could get it to sit just a little higher than the subframe i'll be sweet. Anyone with experience of raising the engine. Ive read the odd bit of people with mk3's doing it with hockey pucks some longer bolts. Potential issues ive worked out so far -bonnet clearance, how much room do i have? -fly wheel and driveshaft clearance (but i'll solve this with a notch) -which mounts to change? does anyone know if i can get away with just raising the front mount? or which mounts do i need to adjust? here's a picture of my car for reference. it use to belong to a guy on here, but i forget his name. thank you.
6. rear one is shagged. front is probably 4/10 for condition. bonnets gone to the scrap man. yes, all works perfectly.
7. wanted. colour doesnt matter, but must be from a late vr front wings bonnet slam panel front lights indicators vr6 badge bumper cash waiting, willing to collect. thanks.
8. ive got a sealed original corrado one if anyone wants?
9. couple of bits knocking around heated loom, relays and switch - £90 pair of l041 early doors with mirrors. no regs or glass. - £50 each. early front and rear bumpers. poor condition - £10 each r32 ecu bub engine code. never coded, brand new. - £300 front half of my old corrado! a pillars forward with bit of floor, dash, pedal box, engine, gearbox, subframe etc. £200?
10. bought a 1.8 valver at 18. bought the vr when i was 19, ive just turned 20. bet im the lowest though! ;)
11. would i be welcome? im only 20 and im not sure if my rado would be to all tastes....
12. have these on my corrado. mint coilovers. lowest static setup ive managed to achieve. ride real nice too.
13. i know the 3.2 pickup is alot shorter. try using a 12v pickup and baffled sump.
14. i'll go take more more now. its not in the best of condition, which is why its only £30. lots of stone chips, towing eye covers missing etc. dont know if i fancy splitting the fogs to be honest. sure i cant interest you in two, theyre brand new! :)
15. update -been super busy of late, so sorry for the lack of response on this. will focus on it more now to get everything shifted. currently got a broken hand (doh!) so there will be a delay in some things unless you want to remove yourself. got all that mate. im afraid you would have to remove it yourself though, as ive bust my hand. not sure what it's all worth. say £50? yep still got both mirrors. £35 if you want to come collect? drop me a pm. im afraid all interior trim is now gone, bar the dashboard. blades are pretty shagged really, but i can do both arms posted for 38 posted? car is breaking due to rear end damage :(
16. Most people are put off because it involves taking the head off which is too much for most diy mechanics. But it's just like any other gaskets like you said. Aslong as loosing coolant hasn't caused it to overheat, just Wang a new gasket on.
17. you either want to pressure test it and see/hear it ****ing out. id imagine however if you cant see it externally, and youre also loosing oil that you cant see externally its probably the headgasket. people saying about kseal though, ive heard good stuff about it!
18. probably best to give me a call. im at work 6 - 6 all in the week, so it's best to try and catch me in the evening and we can chat about what you want :) i can do that for you! give me a chance and i'll pm you some pictures wing mirrors are for sale, if you want both sides, with glass for 35? and in regards to the sunroof im afraid it had a moonroof in it and im hanging onto that front bumper available. lots of stone chips though and towing eye covers missing alright ed! so youre on about where the fuel pump sits, next to the filter and the tray that goes between that and the shell?
