288mm calipers & carriers and rear MK4 Golf Calipers wanted
Duck replied to Daveproyoyoyo's topic in Wanted
Dave, as Fuzz mentioned I have a full set up that's no longer required. Give me a ring if you're interested as I could do with the space! Mark 07540937879 -
No update in 4 weeks.......and all I've managed to do is smooth & paint the engine cover. Been using it for work a bit to get some miles on the new motor and all is well so far, unfortunately something air cooled has my attention at the moment so reconsidering the rado's future.

Back in one piece, a quick blast home and I'm happy with the new motor. Unfortunately I now have a water leak from bottom rad hose and by the time it was cool enough to look at the Grand Prix was starting so its now tomorrow night's job Engine cover has been dropped off at a mates body shop for colour coding just so the new manifold isn't the only shiny bit under the bonnet (engine bay in definite need of a clean) Quick pic next to the daily. Thanks Mark

You mean the crank sensor fitting tool?

An update Out with the old New one in Back together and keeping good company in Fuzz's barn, Sunday morning should see the front end back on & a test drive. Keen to see what the new motor & 6 branch are like so here's hoping for decent weather.

I'd love to go to Le Mans & the road trip with it, something for next year I reckon.

Dad and I have been the last few years and loved it, this year however this year we're giving Silverstone Classic a go.

I'm the same so was a little surprised this morning when I found myself liking it. Even the other half came out with "doesn't look bad that":clap:

Grace probably gets out on her bike more than I do mine.

It's been an expensive month, first... BBS RX 228's, 17 x 7.5. Always been a fan of 1 piece rims so couldn't turn these down, even better there's 5 of them, all with good Toyo proxes. The down side is the daft colour and the plan is to refinish them in silver before fitting them....... So, here they are fitted:bonk: Had a test fit this morning and ended up leaving them on, oddly I quite like it. Probably going to run them like this for the rest of the summer but repaint them when the rest of the body work is done. New motor has been sourced along with a few other nice bits (6 branch), should be fitted in a few weeks all being well. Mark

Silver G60 in Bishop Auckland this afternoon about half 5.

I'm with you for originality and only really like subtle alterations. The original lights and wiper set up are in the back of the garage should I fancy swapping them back one day.

Bugger. Think I may have tempted fate in an earlier post regarding the oil burning problem. Plenty of blue smoke & no2 plug fouling with oil. Plan hatched for a replacement motor that I'm due to collect in the morning. Kept myself entertained tonight though by fitting all red rear's and removing the wiper assembly (didn't work anyway) More tomorrow. Mark

Spotted this on Motor's coverage of Knockhill the other week. I know your series sometimes races with Northern Saloons (a mate has ran in for a few years) any plans on coming down to Croft with them? Mark
-
Unfortunately mine let go over the weekend so on the look out for a good replacement. Prefer late (coil pack) if possible and don't mind if it's with ancillaries (spares are always good). Let me what you have. Thanks Mark 07540937879

In between multiple work trips to China some progress has been made.... Had a problem with burning oil, after finding a fair bit of oil (fresh) in the intake pipe a new breather valve & pipe was sourced and fitted along with an oil change to proper Quantum semi synthetic and so far so good:bonk: Saturday morning saw a set of AP coilovers fitted, still playing about with ride height and probably a little too low to be honest but still fun to drive on a quick run out this afternoon. Geometry is a mile out now so once everything is settled that's next on the list. Also started to collect parts for front 288mm upgrade and started the hunt for a pair of solid front wings so if anyone has some let me know. Thanks Mark

Above is the invoice from a few weeks ago, this being for breather valve and intake pipe complete. My breather valve was buggered and took the part number from that but could only be supplied with the intake pipe. Cheers Mark

Just paid £95 + fat from TPS new a couple of weeks ago so would be tempted to set it away on a 99p auction if it was mine.(feel free to quote the new price in your ad ) Mark

Fitting a set of AP's to mine when I get back at easter, will be a happy man if I get it to sit like this.
-
A day of cleaning and it didn't come up half bad, fitted a set of clear side repeaters too. Will be ok for running around this summer but looking at getting it in to a mates bodyshop for everything but the roof (may as well do it properly). Must do something about the ride height though :smug:
-
This is the same as my VR, going to pull the plugs tomorrow to have a look but hopefully it's the breather valve. Found them for £40ish new on eBay so going to try that.
-
Oil level just under max so not over filled. Will start looking for anything obvious on Sunday but being a VR6 novice I'd be grateful for any advice. Mark

Bit of an odd one, had a run out today and apart from a poor idle all was well. After 40 miles or so it started burning oil, knocked it off and left for half an hour to cool down, oil level ok and started again. Little smoke again then cleared up so tried for home. Won't smoke on over run or holding at a steady 50/60mph, pull away from a roundabout though and there's clouds of the stuff! Was originally suspecting a sticking piston ring but then noticed a little smoke creep up the side of the bonnet so now thinking a long the lines of breather system. Not had chance to pull the plugs yet to see if its a particular cylinder, it's had a top end rebuild 150 miles ago and had the opportunity to check cylinder bores and all looked well. So combination of of erratic idle and the smoke from under RH side of the bonnet have got me thinking (hoping) it's the breather side of things, any help or suggestions are appreciated, it's not the best start the VR6 ownership!!

Audi wheels went this afternoon, just need room for everything else now.
