The old girls up and running on some tasty G12++ and a new expansion tank :) never realised how grotty my original one was until I had the new one next to it! Drain and flushed twice then flushed with the VW orange stuff (which I really recommend - got LOADS of crap out that the first couple of flushes didnt), another all water flush and rinse through then filled with coolant, absolute pig of a job spent an hour trying to get bottom rad hose off, got it half off and it wouldn't move any more so ended having to use the crack pipe drain instead but it seemed to work just as well - and a lot easier too! Anyway thanks again for the info lads Cheers, Max
-
Thanks for the replies guys, forgot to mention its a VR6 so the crackpipe will be useful I'm gna give it a blast today, going to do the flush up til the stat opens then just let it cool down and drain, ideally needs doing asap as its running poor quality coolant atm after blowing the matrix pipe and ****ing out all the good stuff not so long ago ;( Will see how it goes, just want all crap out of there and some proper stuff back in!

Tried using search but can't find exactly what I'm looking for... Basically I'm fully flushing and replacing the coolant and putting on a new expansion tank So I've got; -2 bottles (1.5L ea) of G12++ -Loads of distilled water -and a bottle of the orange VW coolant flush What I need to know is how much water with the 3L of G12 will I need, I've read 50/50 but surely the system holds more than 6L? and also how to use the flush properly, obviously I'll drain the existing and flush with normal water to clear out the old coolant, but with the orange stuff do you use it straight or fill near to the top with water the just put a bit in? (and before you suggest it - radiator, thermo and all housing was replaced not so long ago so isnt being done at the same time, so I'd be doing the flush by just remove the lower rad pipe and not the thermo) and finally is it best to always fill from the top rad hose or the tank? Cheers lads, Max

Just in halifax pal HX2 I'll give new plugs and leads a bash and that doesn't sort it I'll get in touch about the pack! Yeah just like that but not quite as frequent as in the vid
-
Yeh most sets for sale are for distributors, I think the prev owner has used dizzy leads as theyre way too long ha yeah didn't think it was as it wasn't in the usual 9 digit code! cheers for that you're a life saver, gonna get a set of these and new plugs ordered, hopefully itll sort it, if not coilpack time :( Thanks for the info guys

Cheers bud, nah I think I'll beable to get hold of a brand new set of front end lights for peanuts from my mate, hes a bit of a compulsive hoarder haha seats are from an old ford RS turbo, subframes chopped then welded onto lupo runners so you were sat on the floor pan more or less :D rest of it was all lupo GTI spec, all trimmed in BMW red nappa I'll give them a go with polish, have read that a bit of compound can do wonders on them! If not at least I know I can get hold of some others

As per title After a new front splitter as mines definitely seen better days as long as there are no cracks any condition is fine, will drive up to 50 miles collection, otherwise I'll organist a courier :) Cheers, Max

apparently my last reply hasnt come through found some leads for cheap but is OEF776 a genuine part number, its not long enough or in the right format as most other parts some I'm guessing not but worth checking with you guys! Cheers, Max
-
sorry to jack the thread but I'm also after a set of straps for a VR, whatever the OP doesn't take send you offers my way :) P.S. it was me who picked the guy up on ebay selling stainless ones as they were originally advertised to fit G60 AND VR6, gutted :(
-
16x7.5 and 16x9 with or without tyres 5x100 Anyone got a set?
-
oh dear! hope mine doesnt meet a similar fate ;( Well I've found a really cheap set on ebay, is OEF776 the right part number I'm looking for? Seems too short/not the right format but when googled brings up VR6 HT leads, only £35 posted so hoping its the genuine part num :D Coil pack is gonna be about £80 but is this the one I'm looking for? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-CORRADO-SHARAN-2-8-V6-VR6-NEW-IGNITION-COIL-PACK-91-99-oblong-plug-type-/300618420511#ht_500wt_969

Its literally just from one lead on the pack, arcing out, even with a bit of waxoyl (I think, cant remember what I used on it) on it will still arc slightly, will this epoxy resin save me getting a new pack? or should I just get a new pack anyway Think I'm going to get new leads when I get plugs just because the leads look pretty tired and definitely shouldn't do! Just to let you know as I forgot to mention and I think its 99% related, car will sometimes hunt on idle for a 1 minute or so after start up, doesnt do it all the time but I'm guessing its due to bad ignition parts Also idled at a constant 1500rpm this morning which it has never done before Cheers, Max

Cheers, Whos makes the red leads? - as mine are currently the black ones I can get hold of a pack with red leads for relatively cheap provided they're good ones to go for! Also, are the leads and packs interchangeable through all the VR engine varieties or are they specific to each car?
-
Hi, Noticed that there is slight arcing from the coil pack from 1 of my HT leads, I don't know if it makes a difference but it is the port is the one closest to the top of the engine (top row) and to the front of the car. XOO OOO marked X is you were looking directly at it, actually now I've done that it may have been the one below it :bonk:- guessing it doesnt make much/any difference anyway My question is, is it the lead and/or plug thats nackered, or the coilpack? Or is just worth the lot, spark plugs are being done regardless Car is a 94 VR6 (i.e no distributor) Cheers, Max

Hi, my names Max and I'm from Halifax, W.Yorks Last year I bought myself a standard '02 1.4 Lupo as what was supposed to be a run around for a year or 2 until insurance on the VR dropped a little, ended up not leaving it as standard as I'd planned... That is now pottering around Leeds somewhere I believe, but not with those wheels on! So this year I decided that I was fed up of waiting to get my dream car so bit the bullet and bought a '94 Blackberry VR6 (Haris' old one if he had a thread on here), I was going to buy and built from standard but when I saw this it had half the things I would do already done and so would save me time and money in the long run! I've had the car about 6-7 weeks now and have just been fixing niggles and making sure its mechanically sound since it will be my daily for the foreseeable future, currently sat on standard speedlines and searching for the right wheels to suit it. This is the only pic I have atm but if haris had a thread I'm sure you're all too familiar with anyway :) Future plans include getting a full s/s milltek system New shoes obviously fixing little bodywork niggles replacing all perishables/bushes etcetc fixing the annoying heaters than only work on 3 :mad2: new front lights as mine are looking old heated black leathers and plenty more but that can wait for now :) will get some more photos up when I feel its worth doing, i.e. with new wheels, which probably wont be until spring now anyway, but still :D Cheers, Max

Cars back and running without any knocking thank good! Only problem is, when the bearing had totally collapsed (yesterday) it had caused part of the caliper to rub on the disc and its left a fair gouge in it (I only drove it home yesterday and back down today (literally about 1-2 miles), it's making a nasty scraping as if there was a stone stuck in the caliper but only for about half of the wheels full rotation if that makes sense It wont be doing any damage will it, guessing it'll just stop over time as the disc levels out again? Or is it a case of new discs? :| Hey man which one is yours, I've seen a green one in sowerby, black G60 (I think) a few times and I know of a couple garaged up Yeah man, just getting all the mechanical parts running well before I take on any kind of stance works!
-
Thanks :) Well shes literally at a mates garage for bearings and hubs replacing as they've got a press and the proper tools for everything, didn't fancy making too much work of the old hammer today! Just praying to god my CV joints haven't gone because its started knocking and also getting an intermittent sqreeching which as far as I'm aware bearings shouldn't do? :( Anyway I'll get pics up when we get a bit of good weather (probably not til spring at this rate!)

Hi, My names Max, I'm 20 and based in Halifax (near Leeds ) Every since my dad had a 2.0 corrado back in the mid 90s it has been my favourite car - obviously had a eye for beauty since a young ages ;) - and now that I can finally (sort of) afford it I've picked up a 1994 Blackberry VR6 and had it for about 6-7 weeks now The car has extensive service history with a full engine rebuild including fitting a set of schrick 268 cms by Stealth at 106k miles, the is currenty just shy of 190k and so as you can imagine the old girls getting pretty tired now So after getting it home had proper look around and got a list written up for what needs doing! I've change the full steering rack with fluid change, worn parts of the coolant hosing and replaced the cooling, front hubs and bearings, new sump from a mk5 r32 (just a smaller version of the rados) with oil and filter change, and at the moment shopping for new HT leads, spark plugs and a coilpack so hopefully by spring shell be near ready! Car is already sat on KW V1s and speedlines and has a skid plate to provide a little bit of protection to that big lump under the bonnet, this is the only picture I've got of her atm as I've been too busy with other stuff to get proper photos done Anyway I'll leave it at that for now, no doubt I'll be on here a fair bit picking your brains and searching for parts! Cheers, Max

ALL PARTS NOW SORTED! Cheers, Max

Hi, Just a newbie after a quick answer as I don't fancy reading through 89 pages! What are the best coilovers for ride quality on rados when low, and I mean properly low i.e. 15" alloy minimal rim/arch gap My current car is being sold this weekend and is on APs, which were comfortable even with the car only 2" from the floor I'm biting the bullet and forking out for the insurance for a G60 this week as I can't be without one for any longer, and first thing on the 'to do' list is a battering with the lowering stick, the compos from the lupo will be tested on the rado, and if I don't like the look of them I'll be going for a set of 16" moderlines I'm guessing APs also get good reviews for ride quality on the rado too but just wanted to be sure before I dove in! Cheers, Max
