1. Agreed. One on the road is worth two in the garage I say
2. David pretty much covered this really To add though, valve cover gasket is fairly straight forward to do just take your time and don't get any cr*p in the head unit. Stuff lint free rags in the spark plug wells and use a brake or carb cleaner to clean up seal edges etc before fitting the new gasket(s). You might want to consider correct torque settings of course (see tech data below as a guide) although you can easily do this by hand - remember bolts go into soft alloy so don't over tighten! Valve cover gasket is formed of two parts: Outer perimeter gasket AND inner plug well gasket. Make sure you have both. Word of advice - when you re-seat the valve cover with the new gasket(s) attached make sure you check gasket alignment / symmetry in the plug wells in particular as this is easily over looked. Then of course check perimeter gasket alignment before bolting down. Good luck
3. Thanks Jetta appreciate it, I need one to tied me over until I can source a new OEM type. In a bit of a jam at the moment
4. Could def be tempted by this... will PM when ready
5. It is in fact H4 you're right. I can never remember which one off the top of my head (original post amended) VAG info: Halogen Bulb - YD12V60/55W H4 (OEM)
6. Curiosity got the better of me... Daihatsu Cuore - Funny little cars aren't they? Ah well You did what you had to do to stay educated brother well done
7. Man flu is actually real - scientists have proved it... !
8. Do you know the VAG part number?
9. F*ck what anyone else thinks, you're entitled to sick leave (well most of us are) - use it. However, if of course said ill person is just being a fan*y and is taking time off with the sniffles, then I agree - man the hell up. And don't cough on me. BTW - If you really are rolling around as if you have been kicked in the face - Lemsip flu strength, blood orange, lemon, ginger, honey always does the trick Agree with Sunderland too - Saunas plus olbas oil help massively
10. See circled in pic below: Thermo time switch for a 9A, also controls cold start etc. 2 pin connector. Anyone got one?
11. Don't waste your money on HID seriously. I had a 8000K kit rigged to mine when I bought it - it was god awful. The manufacturers claims are wildly over the top and the bulbs more expensive You'd do far better to uprate your headlight wiring loom and get some OSRAM Night Breaker Plus bulbs - H4's
12. Brand new OEM parts all the way if I can dude, tend to use breakers to get me out of a jam. Problem is more and more parts are becoming obsolete these days - I was at VW yesterday, wanted to get some new bits and nearly all of em were obsolete as of a week ago! P*ssed
13. I never quite done GT3 100% - I think i needed to come first in one more 24hr endurance race or something crazy like that! I know I had formula 1 cars at some point which were insane. Best game(s) for me over the years was the Mass Effect Trilogy for def
14. I know the feeling... every time I speak to GSF these days they've never got parts for a 9A. I wish my car was a different engine code sometimes!
15. So long as he puts some toast on for the pooch too, he loves the stuff ;)
16. Actually I agree with you. When ever I compare a racing game to Gran Tourismo I'm actually comparing it against GT3 A-Spec. I don't have a PS3 just 360 but have played the new GT4 on my buds PS - I got bored quite quickly actually too. This might have been because I was playing it about a mile away from the TV with the sound down in a f*cking go-kart! Forza 4 can play a little 'slow' and twitchy IMO so have always preferred GT3.
17. We have a wanted section??? Awesome
18. Required: Therm Time Switch Part Number: 043906163A (VAG) - Now obsolete from VW (as of 29/10/12) If anyone has a working spare or knows anywhere I can get a new one of these please let me know. Cheers, C 92' 16V 2.0 (9A)
19. I don't know - For me Forza just doesn't have the intensity of Gran Tourismo. Just sayin... !
20. I like to think I'm older and more mature than most new drivers - the missus would say other wise :D Thanks Regardless of how many years experience I have driving motorcycles + the year(s) experience driving heaps of different cars and the fact I passed my test 1st time (theory + practical) with virtually zero minors etc - I do get lumped in with the reckless teenagers when it comes to car insurance unfortunately. I don't usually dwell on regrets but for me, passing my test in my later years was the worst (and greatest) thing I've ever done. On one hand I was legit at last. On the other, car insurance costs for new drivers are so high I very nearly didn't get a car! Home life however requires us to have one and so I am forced to pay extortionate rates (£1900 approx) for my car insurance, I don't have a choice. Martin - As a man in the know ;) is age taken into consideration when applying for car insurance? I'd bet my lunch that older new drivers in their 30's have less accidents than teenagers
21. I see where you're coming from and to a point agree with you (as much as I don't want to! lol). However, what's the point of having a license then? Your license determines whether you are able to drive or not. It allows you to drive the vehicle lawfully based on the strict requirements set out by the DVLA. You either meet these requirements or you don't. Just because you can drive the vehicle unsupervised doesn't mean your insurance should go up! At the very least it should stay the same not go up. I was "learning to drive ;)" for 12 years before I eventually got bored of motorcycles (the wet mainly) and got myself legit. In those years I drove everywhere with a legal supervisor and looking back on it now - I thought I knew how to drive but I didn't. It was only when I passed my test that you learn to drive "safely". Just because I have access to a car and can drive unsupervised doesn't make me more of a risk. Your driving license is awarded to reflect the level of your (required) ability, allowing you to best demonstrate your broad understanding of motoring. Right on the money
22. Seriously, you know the car insurance system is f*cked up when you can get cheaper car insurance as a learner driver, than you can as a driver with a full license. Before I passed my test a year ago (always driven motorbikes) my insurance cost me £400 LESS than it does now. Instead of my insurance going down when I got my license (as I was expecting it to) - it went up! For my missus to insure my C is nearly a grand less than what I'm paying and she's currently unemployed and doesn't even have a license! Because she's had her provisional license for over 6 years and is a home owner her insurance will always be cheaper than mine apparently because I've only had my UK Car License for a year. Understand of course there are other factors at play here but Christ, I would have thought that having a license is better than not having one surely? The whole thing's a f*cking joke
23. Always looks like chaos when the dash is off doesn't it? ;) Gonna look awesome when it's all in though, nice work man
