  1. every time i adjust my drivers side wing mirror it squeaks as though something is gradually dying in there. the options are as follows 1. the mechanism needs stripping down and greasing 2. somebody has trapped a mouse in there any ideas on whether i can strip this down and either remove the mouse or give it a good greasing? jim
  2. DONT DO IT, IT WILL ONLY END IN TEARS!!!!! jim (speaking from experience)
  3. the stuff us self adhesive, just peel off the backing and stick it on. the dynamat is about 3mm thick and the edges are black where you cut it. jim
  4. on saturday i decided to remove the sound deadening foam from under my bonnet as it was all tatty and oily, this took about 2 minutes. afterwards i thought it might take just a little longer to remove the glue from where the foam had been, hey presto! nice shiny bonnet. after about four hours and half a can of the strongest industrial solvent i could find at work i had done precisely one fifth of the bonnet! (but was as high as a kite from all the fumes!). so the moral of this story is DONT DO IT. i have now been out and spent the best part of £100 to get some heat resistant dynamat with silver foil on it to replace the foam. looks nice now its done though! jim
  5. i was alwatys led to believe that these are not available for the corrado, but on the GSF website they are listed (part no 87547) for the corrado??? any of you guys got these fitted? jim :?

  9. bananaradoman, (that took some spelling!) i thought i recognised your face from somewhere. sorry, i should have said hello but i wasnt quite with it as i had been on the road since 8.00 to meet the elite 1000 lot at stoke for the cruise to stafford. i was still bogged down after you guys pushed me back a bit and had to get another push to get me out to get home. cheers jim
  10. yeah, that was me, thanks for the push. otherwise i think i would still be stuck there now!!!!! there were three corrados came up from stoke with the eilte1000/no-rice crowd (lots of fun on the way in). they were georg griesel (mega modidfied amd vr6), myself (white 16v), and another guy whos name i forget (driving georges old vr6) thanks again jim :D
  11. heres a tip..... when replacing your exhaust, go to one of these places that makes it up on the car from stock parts. thats what i did, no fitting problems, choose your own tailpipe, also choose the sound you want, all in stainless for the same price as a magnex. job done!!! jim
  12. my last car was a 1989 scala1.8i in paprika red. loved it to bits and cried like a baby when the missus made me sell it (i bought the corrado without telling her!) i still have a picture of it on my desk at work. every scirocco that i see in that colour, i always check to see if it is "mine". if i ever see it again i will chase them down and ask the owner to sell it me back. by the way if you are on the look out, it is F974 EKY. if you see it mail me. jim
  13. make sure you get the electric window mechanisms. these are dealer only and cost an arm and a leg. jim
  14. dont worry about it, its just the breather doing its job. jim
  15. do you get one of those coats with a furry hood thrown in for that price???? jim (only ever seen one jet in the flesh and was mighty jealous)
  16. i should be at both stanford and gti. i'll try and remember to bung them in the car then. jim (that reminds me i must send off my membership cheque!) p.s. when is the agm?
  17. jeremy, i'll be around at most shows. are you going to dubfreeze on the 16th. if not i will catch up with you at some point. jim
  18. i am planning on removing the foam on the underside of my bonnet as it is all manky and torn in places. the foam seems to come off easy enough, but the glue that holds it on is a real pig to shift. does anyone have any ideas what i can use to shift it????? jim
  19. i also have a set of sebrings for sale five of them in average condition but with good (almost new) pirelli tyres. jim
  20. jeremy, let me know if you want them. i dont want anything for them, just trying to make a bit more space in the garage. jim p.s. you dont know anyone who want an exhaust centre box for a corrado do you? if so theres one in my garage going for free also.
  21. jeremy, you still got a scirocco? if so theres a set of trimsport stainless sill plates in my garage looking for a home. jim
