All the fixed (not flexible) lines are the same size although the unions are different betweeen car manufacturers, most lines are made of copper that should last for a good 10 years or so. You can get brake pipe called kunifer this is and alloy that lasts longer. The company i bought my set from is called Fittapart, thay advertise on the net under direct car parts or something. Anyway their phone no is 01332 345344. Hope this helps. Jim

I did all the rears on mine last year. Got a brake line forming machine plus a huge coil of pipe and a load of unions for about £30 from a motor factors in derby. I am sure they do mail order over the web, if you need any more details then let me know and i will dog out their address. Jim

Guys, I know I may be paranoid BUT would it not be better to have this conversation offline somewhere so that we are not broadcasting handy hints for nicking alloys to any of the scum who happens to look on here! Jim (sleeping with keys under pillow tonight)

if i recall correctly they are only a couple of quid from the dealer Jim

I used to get a similar problem on my old ford. It was usually an earth fault. Check in the boot to see if there is a brown wire attached to the bodywork somewhere, then take it off clean it and replace it. Used to work every time for me. Jim

What spark plugs do you have? I had this problem on my scirocco scala 1.8i It was traced to non bosch plugs. As soon as i replaced them with the standard (cheap) bosch ones form GSF then it went away. alternatively try disconnecting the plug on the 5th injector and giving it a bit of throttle when you crank the engine. This seemed to have the same effect for me when i had the (expensive) performance plugs fitted. The 5th injector is located at the front of the inlet manifold on the right hand side. Jim 1.8 16v

My father in law did exactly the same thing in a land rover with a can of spray grease! Not pretty! Jim

Ultimate enbarrasment, and 16v (ina mk1)engine question
jims corrado replied to andycowuk's topic in Suppliers Forum
Andrew, If you get no answer from the forum, just take it down to your local lucas dealer and ask to go through their book. A welsh friend of mine did exactly the same thing on his MK1 convertible. jim -
Utterly Vee Duberly show, what did you guys think?
jims corrado replied to Bally's topic in General Car Chat
Nigel, Thanks for the warning about the rear brakes. It could be that the discs are old and well past it, or that the rear bearings have a little too much play in them for my liking, or that i only had a few miles to do to the show. Anyway, the rear brakes are on the to do list for next year. I quite fancy some drilled ones to match the 280mm ones on the front Jim -
Just check that it isnt the sound insulation that has perished around the pump behind the drivers seat. this happened on my 1.8 injection scirocco and made one hell of a noise. Cost me about £2 in pipe insulation to fix Jim

I have one and find it works best using a light polish such as auto glym. however i dont like their polish much, so it doesnt get all that much use. Jim

I love white corrados, but then thats no surprise as I have one! Jim -
I had one of those on my 16v. The fit was absolutely rubbish, looked like Stevie Wonder had fitted it. Eventually got it all taken off and a nice custom stainless system fitted. Jim

How is the 'new' CCGB going to differ from the old?

I usually find that the more you get involved in a club with events, emails, meets etc. then the more you will get out of it. Jim -
Not required thank you. I never look behind me, its just too scary! Jim

1.8 every time. all the bits can be robbed off golfs in the scrappy, everything is easily reachable and there are less engine electrics to go wrong. jim

Utterly Vee Duberly show, what did you guys think?
jims corrado replied to Bally's topic in General Car Chat
At Tatton Park this year we had a CCBG and forum stand. They were right next to each other and we all got on absolutely fine. Might be one way of doubling the corrado presence and building a few bridges. Jim (currently in training for a career in international diplomacy - honest!) -
Corrado Campaign at Utterly Veedubberly.
jims corrado replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
The campaign belongs to Jeremy Bromley, he is the CCGB magazine editor. Every time i see him with that bloody car bra i just want to scream (or go and buy him a pipe and some slippers) Only Joking Jezza! Jim -
