  2. is it just me or do all nova drivers have single wipers? apparently gives them an extra 1000bhp, especially if it parks in the middle of the screen.......... jim
  3. i know this isnt exaclty relevant but, many years ago, i put ngk plugs in my sicrocco scala 1.8i, almost as soon as i did this the cold starting was absolutely crap. thinking that it was something with the injection system i paid a fortune for a local bosch service centre to check it out. he confirmed everything to be ok. however as soon as i changed the plugs for bosch ones the problem went away. so from then on all my cars (vw or otherwise) have used bosch plugs. just a thought jim

  5. synta silver, its cheap reliable and doesnt make the engine rattle like thinner "performance" oils can. jim
  6. it seems a shame to ruin a perfectly good 16v, why not sell the 16v to someone just starting their very own corrado love affair and resurrect a poorly/broken G60 or something. just a thought jim
  7. spreay wd 40 on your brake discs or the moisture in the air will corrode them. jim (also with corrado in storage, but not for quite so long)

  9. The peg that the door lock locates onto is adjustable, you just put a spanner on the hexagon part and loosen it. What is happening is that on a hot day the rubber seals are soft and will allow the door to close onto the peg. However on cold days the rubber seals are harder to compress and therefore the door is harder to close. what has happened is that over the years the peg has gradually moved inwards by a few mm. all you need to do is to move it back out by a fraction. Jim
  10. try removing the inlet manifold and removing the downpipe from above, just a thought jim
  11. Hate to say this to all you guys who have spent a fortune in money (and bleeding knuckles), but normally its the battery that causes this, losing charge in the cold damp air. this sometimes means that the starter soleniod doesnt have enough power to throw gear to engage the flywheel. seen it loads of times on the fords i used to own. also you could try cleaning both the contacts on the battery and the contacts on the starter itself as these often get covered in crap that lets the battery drain charge. jim
