Hi Rob, Did you get a voltage reading at the fuel pump connector?
-
Not sure how easy it is to see on the VSR but certainly on the Schrick you can watch the vacuum actuator pull the lever on the outside of the manifold open at 4000 revs. Not definitive proof of course unless you had a bit of fun moving the leaver back and forth and watching the flap open and close before you put it on the Car! (My manifold came with the two halves separated to save space). If the lever moves the flap and the actuator pulls the leaver - it's definitely working!

This sounds exactly like the problem I've been having with mine over the last few months. I tried most of the things you did, new fuel pump, new filter etc etc. On mine it turned out to be a slight voltage drain at the fuel pump which started off intermittent and eventually became so permanent the car refused to start. Unfortunately when I first checked I was by myself and had to sort of tape the multimeter probes in the the pump connector and assumed the slight drop was due to the fact they weren't quite touching properly. But it was genuine! When I tied the pump directly into a 12v battery she fired right up. I couldn't be bothered to pull the car apart tracing the point of the drain so I ran a new feed wire from the fuse box and it's been perfect ever since.

Definitely keen for a set, plus followers and gaskets. I live in the Channel Islands though, can I get them shipped here? Understand I'll probably have to put in a little extra, but that's ok. -
Hi All I'm in need of an aqua blue passenger door as the title suggests. I live in the Channel Islands, which may be an issue, but I am of course happy to pay the required postage. Thanks chris

Can't believe none of you guys noticed this!!

Yeh it's true it's a pretty expensive bit of kit considering what it does, but in my case I think it'll be more useful than most. I took the car to Europe recently - totally different driving experience, just as in the UK where I picked it up from. Bigger longer roads, higher speeds - what I really wanted was a nice turbo so I could still accelerate well at motorway speeds. But here at home, small roads, short distances lower speeds lots of stop start, accelerating/decelerating I think unlocking a bit more torque down the bottom will make a big difference to the driving experience. Well that's what I'm hoping anyway! But I couldn't really say no at the price it was going for. Would have kicked myself for not bidding! -
Absolute bargain for me today!! Win! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120985331296

Know mine was previously owned by a forum member, but he mentioned it may have had a few other forum member owners. It's a blue 95 VR. English reg was M290 WHJ -
Thanks for the reply Matt. Is this definitely the OBD2 manifold/TB gasket as it it mentioned in this thread here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?52187-OEM-VW-Parts-Price-Enquiries/page9

Hi All Had a hunt around but can't find anything, sorry if it's been asked before. Am about to commence my OBD2 install, but cant find the part number for the throttle body to manifold gasket. Can anyone help out? Thanks in advance Chris

Great shots guys! Particularly that last one Redfox - the sky almost looks like an oil painting! Wonder if anyone has ever painted a picture of a Corrado.....probably not!
-
Great pics guys! Though I don't think I could get away with those angles. One of the reasons I like that pic of mine so much is you can't spot a single dent!

Thought I'd stick this photo my mate took up as I think it's pretty sweet...bit grainy sadly as it's off a camera phone, but pretty none the less... :D

Well thanksfully should never have to find out first hand. The odds of it snowing in Jersey at a time when I'm driving it are slim to say the least!
-
Must admit, have never driven it in the snow/ice so can't comment - can't fault it in the dry or rain though, sticks like glue.

Interesting thread! Am in kind of a unique position to comment on this one... I bought Dads old A3 2.0FSi last year which he replaced with a 2007 S3 (8P platform, 260BHP iirc). When he went on holidays I used to drive the S3 instead and I absolutely loved it (btw, second jobys comment, the Haldex system is awesome). It was having to give this back every time that made me realise I had to get somthing more fun as the A3 just didn't cut it. Sooo.. got thinking about Corrados again and picked mine up this January. Now it's been a bit of a hassle to get registered over here and I've been on short term cover notes insurance wise for a while. The last one lapsed when Dad went away a few weeks ago so I figured I'd drive the Audi for a few days. After the initial joy of having awesome power/brakes/everthing working perfectly/not a rattle to be heard, I quickly began to wish I could get back in the Corrado. The S3 is 'technically' the better car in every way, but I was very rapidly bored of it and started hating having to drive it instead(!), so much so that I went and sorted out a new cover note after a couple of days and glady jumped back in the VR! As has been said, the Corrado has soo much more character and each and every time I drive it I can't help but grin! I'd much rather have that lovely VR grumble under my right foot than the extra power to be honest. Of course it's a matter of personal preference and what you want/need from your car, but for me I would never swap the rado for an S3...well I would, sell the S3, but another VR and then throw all the extra money at it! :thumbleft: Chris

Hi Guys Does anyone have one of these knocking about? It's the T shaped one at the top left hand side of the VR rocker cover, part no 021 133 518 G Thanks! Chris

I'd start by checking the plugs are good, followed by the coil then the ignition module. Would definately recommend getting it on a vagcom if possible - could save alot of expense/head scratching... Good luck:thumb right:

Nice work! First few pictures made me sad, she looked very sorry for herself - but then cheered up greatly when I saw the stirling work done! :thumbleft:
-
Absolutely love the engine!! Stunning! :thumbleft:

Oh nooo! Sun was shining and I opened the roof...won't close!! Thanks GlosterOx, not a moment too soon. Reckon it's the switch as it did go back further but won't go forward again. On that note, EnthusiastOwned - it goes back even further than I thought, good couple of inches past the edge of the hole.
-
Yep, just been out and checked (still works!!). Mine goes back further than that, basically so the panel is in line with the edge of the hole.
