The alloys were new so came balanced and I had 4 wheel alignment done shortly after the Koni kit was fitted. I've just put new 280mm discs and pads on but I still had this problem with the old disc/pads. There is absolutly no pulling either side when braking.

When braking heavily in a straight line from about 40 upwards the car starts to weave very slightly, not all over the road but enough for it to feel very unsafe. The shocks and springs (Koni kit) were changed about a year ago and the tyre pressures are ok. The only other thing I had changed recently was the alloys which came with tyres on the cheaper end of the market. I can't remember the car behaving like this before I changed the alloys and tyres. My guess is the tyre side walls are very soft and giving way. Anyone else experienced this? Dave

I'm in the process of removing my aerial so whilst I'm at it I took some piccys of the rear trim clips and the underside of the roof where the aerial mounts. The rear trim just pulls off but take care not to be too brutal, there are 5 sets of clips on the trim. I managed to ease it off without busting anything. There are two tabs on the headlining that need to be eased out of the slots in the body that they sit in. Again take care as these feel well delicate. You can now pull the headlining down about 4 or 5 inches, enough to reach in with a 22mm spanner to release the nut holding the aerial in place. It's still in bits so I can't say how easy it went back together but I imagine it to be easier. Hope this is helpfull. Cheers Dave

Crikey I didn't quite expect this response. Oh and I do hate THOSE sort of kids. Being a father and trying to bring up my kids 'properly' it still makes you think of other kids as s&*ts, maybe even more. I'm with stevemac on this one...........it's the parents. I'm sure most people think this way. BTW my kids ALWAYS open car doors carefully

New people moved in across the road, having buliding work done, sand on the drive........the result = :x :x :x :x :x :x Washed it off with hopefully no side affects.

Kev, what makes you say the springs with Koni kit are poo, what experience have you had with these?

Ok I have now put my 280mm brakes on and before bedding them in they feel loads better. I drained about 1 litre of brake fluid from front and rear and replaced with DOT 5.1 fluid. The disc retaining screws had already sheared off so had to leave them off. Carrier bolts were a bit of a pig to undo! Just want to say a BIG thanks to all who gave advice......saved me at least £50. If anyone can advise me how to bleed the clutch as I didn't do this. I guess it's the same as the brakes but do you have to return the pedal by hand? Cheers chaps Dave

Am I to assume axle stands should be placed under the subframe too. I'm changing my brakes tomorrow so any help is greatly received. Cheers

So you have the speakers in the parcel shelf and have removed the speakers in the shelf supports (or whatever you call em). Cheers Dave

Kev, sorry to possibly sound daft but what do you mean by '2 ways'?

Just one other thing.......I bought a set of Pagid brake pads from GSF and these have some sort of special pad on the back, is it an anti-squeel pad? If so I don't need to apply copper grease? Yes/No? Cheers

So I can fit the discs without that screw as a last resort?
-
I'll be fitting my 280mm brakes this coming weekend and need some advice. 1. The countersunk screw that holds the brake disc in place seems to be missing on my old discs. Where can I pick a couple up from, is it a dealer item? 2. I'll be changing the calipers as well, do I need to use lock tight when screwing the brake pipe into the new caliper? Cheers for any help.

Drove to work this morning without a hint of that noise.....strange.

I think I'll monitor it for a few days, see if it gets worse. Thanks for the input guys.

My pump has been noisy since I got the car and I have changed the filter last year. But this is a new noise and alot louder than it was. Is it worth replacing the filter one year on? Pricey pump :(
-
Started my car this morning and instead of the quiet hum from the fuel pump I got a high pitched grinding noise for about 3 seconds. It's ok now but I'm guessing the pump is on it's last legs :( What do you think? Dave
