  1. Just "mapquested" the distance.....it's 138 miles  Could just bite the bullet and get it collected by towtruck I guess!!
  2. I'll just be happy if it makes it back!! Might be a a better way of collecting it so!!
  3. ....so you can drive to the MOT testing centre without tax???
  4. it is legal to drive to/from the testing centre without a MOT isn't it? What about tax though?
  5.  ....good thinking!!....unfortunatley I don't have cover on it (or the Corrado) yet!! Is it legal to tow this car instead of trailering it?
  6. Good stuff!!! As I said though...I'm still stunned that I won it foir that price!! :D I just have to have it collected in the next three days
  7. It's a 1.6L GT carb! I've been on the lookout for a daily driver...so hopefully ater a bit of work this should do the job!
  8. Just stuck a £60 bid on flebay, and won it for £56....wasn't expecting it AT ALL!!!!! Cant go too far wrong at the price, but there is no tax on it at the moment, and I need to transport it from Norwich to Slough! Anybody have any contacts/ideas of a good company to transport it? Or any other way of getting it back to my place?

    Mystery clunk!!

Ah, I wouldn't worry about that........I'm sure the neighbours on my road are already doubting my sanity!!!! The cursing and shouting coming from underneath my car when I'm working on it should have convinced them pretty quickly!!!! :-P

    Mystery clunk!!

Hey guys! The latest mystery problem    I get a funny 'clunking' noise from the drivers side front wheel area now and again when pulling off from being stopped!!! It seems to be related to the speed of the wheels rotation! It doesn't make it any other time....but it seems worse just after the car has been parked for a while (overnight etc) Struts, springs, topmounts, wishbones/bushes, calipers, disks and balljoints have all recently been changed....and it just passed its MOT (well failed for headlight definition, but everything else passed!) so whats left down there that can go 'clunk'......drive shaft balance weight thing, cv joint, wheel bearing......anyone got any ideas? It's a 1.8 16v btw
  14. It connects underneath the black inlet manifold just before it gets to the throttle body!!! There should already be a vacuum line attached in there......that loose one attaches in right beside it
  15. Thats what I thought too!!!.....but if they have and LED's in theirs, they have LED's!!!
  16. Mine deffo wasn't an LED....and any of the clocks that we got a replacement out of also had bulbs, not LED's So I guess some have LED's and some don't!!!!
  17. The full beam light is actually a bulb not a LED, on the early clocks anyway!!!!....have had to change mine a while back....and now it's gone and blown again  Something to do with blue/white LED's being too expensive to produce back in the day, so they used a small bulb in its place!!....afaik the rest of the lights are actually LED's though
  18. Yeah, it's a thick red wire!
  19. Looking to get some extended ones to fit through the rear spacers! Are 12mm x 1.5 the right size for a 1.8 16v (Vr6's are the 14mm ones, aren't they?)? And I figured a thread length of 45mm would be long enough when fitting 15 mm spacers!?!?
  20. ok! I'll get one in better light tomorrow!!!
  21. Carbon cannister removed sounds about right! Cheers!! And have you got my alternator back yet Geo?
  22. My car seems to have had a vacuum line removed from the airbox/Tb before I bought it!! When comparing it to a similar engine I noticed mine is missing the 3mm line running from low on the engine side of the airbox from a small round section, up to the underneath of the inlet duct just before the throttle body, where it has just been blocked off!!!! (description prob doesn't make much sense! I'll take some photos when I get my hands on my camera!!) Anyway does anybody got any ideas why this would be removed? and should I replace it?

    bigger=better?

50mm will actually cause more drag not reduce it!!!! Whole point of the front spoiler is to deflect airflow from the high drag region underneath the engine/car body!! The larger the gap between the bottom af the spolier and the road, the higher the volume of airflow beneath the car from the leading edge: therefore more drag!!! As crude an aerodynamic device as they are, they actually work prety well!

    Rear spoiler

I tried it with my old headunit.....the spoiler worked properly with the headunit turned off.....but as soon as I turned the radio on, the spoiler just retracted, and stayed that way!!! I don't see why the HU was sending any signal either though?
