    bigger=better?

50mm will actually cause more drag not reduce it!!!! Whole point of the front spoiler is to deflect airflow from the high drag region underneath the engine/car body!! The larger the gap between the bottom af the spolier and the road, the higher the volume of airflow beneath the car from the leading edge: therefore more drag!!! As crude an aerodynamic device as they are, they actually work prety well!

    Rear spoiler

I tried it with my old headunit.....the spoiler worked properly with the headunit turned off.....but as soon as I turned the radio on, the spoiler just retracted, and stayed that way!!! I don't see why the HU was sending any signal either though?

    Rear spoiler

Have to do the same thing for my new nav unit! Surely using a diode in-line on the b/w wire would stop it affecting the spolier?

    Rear Shocks???

I have a set of Boge Turbo rear shocks + springs that you can have for free, if you are down this way and want to collect them! I have just removed them to fit the coilovers! They have about 20K/3yrs of use on them, but are in excellent cond. I also have the fronts if you want to take them
  5. Sounds like they just forgot to plug the vacuum pipe for the mfa back in! Pretty easy to fix! Just unscrew the four screws on the bezel around the clocks, the two screws on the top sides of the clocks themselves. The clocks should tilt forwards and you should be able to squeeze your hand in behind them! The vacuum line plugs in just behind the the mfa screen!

    Rear Sunblind

It's exactly the same shape as mine (apart from the colour and the sun blind!!)
  7. Great......thanks lads, that should do perfectly :thumb right: Thanks for the offer of the translation Roger  :D
  8. Wonder if anyone could give me a hand with this! I have bought a few bits for the car over German Ebay and they haven't shown up yet, even though they were bought over a month ago!! I want to send the guy an email just basically asking if the parts have been posted yet, or if there is some problem with the payment or the parts? I have pretty much zero German (other than being able to count to twelve  ) I've tried using the babelfish language converter, but I could have ended up asking him about goldfish for all I know :) Cheers
  9. I used the jetwasher on mine a few weeks back....was fairly effective in softening up some of the 16 year old ground in dirt that was in there, before I started using the oul elbow grease!! I made sure to properly cover the major electrical stuff, like the alternator, dizzy (coil pack, I guess in your case) etc. And I also removed the battery!! Water isn't going to damage electrical stuff if it has no power running through it! I then left it until I was sure everthing was bone dry again before re-connecting it! Everthing has worked perfectly afterwards!
  10. Yup...not too many of them around here!! :( ...I know of three/four others around Dublin. But I've never actually passed one on the road in Ireland
  11. Anyone know any of the 5 by any chance? :)
  12. Three calibras in the bottom 5 aswell!!!!
  13. ahhh yes...the "swirl-chamber-thingy" I know it well
  14. I get 10-15mpg according to mine!!! ....scared the crap out of me the first time I saw that after buying the car, thought I'd have to invest in Esso!!!! :)
  15. :D :D .....was a bit of a B**tard to remove the cluster if you remember though George....never heard so much swearing in my car before!! The face did just clip off pretty easily! Bulb is dimmer than the rest of the cluster lights!!....its a standard bulb, but the rest are LED's.....the reason being that blue LED's were stupidly expensive/difficult to make way back in the day our cars were built!! Guess you have to live with a dim blue bulb.....I was just happy to have any sort of light from mine at all!!

    VR6 Re-assembly

    Looks nice George!!!

    Chrome Interior Bits

Early handles (on mine anyway) are a different shape than those Golf handles! Sorry boss! Sure just stick them back on E-Bay!
  18. I'll be refiting mine in the next few days to try and reduce the wind noise!!.....I'll take a few pics of how its done as I'm doing it!! It's not that hard to do at all!!.....main difficulty is removing the headliner! All the interior grab handles, sun visors, have to be taken off. Then the A,B,C pillar covers have to be removed or just loosened at the top, which requires removing seatbelts etc!!...after that the new moonroof just simply bolts in with 8(?) bolts!! Two hour job probably...one hour if you know what your doing!
  19. This would be it I think  ] http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72230&item=7961442129&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

    cleaning the isv!

Cheers!!  The reason I was going for the petrol method was because I just changed the fuel filter and now have a spare jar of petrol left over anyway!! :) :) I thought carb cleaner was too abrasive and might damage it?!?!

    cleaning the isv!

I've read that soaking it in petrol is the best way to clean it? But how much of the thing do you stick into the petrol and for how long? I wasn't too keen on soaking the electrical plug end of it into a flammible/explosive liquid
  22. :) :) :) ...yeah I guess your right....I haven't actually got to drive the car since last November though   ps...our cars are twins!!!.....1990 tornado red 16v!!!
  23. Its worse than that!!....I fix one thing and two or three other things go wrong!!  The "love" is being seriously tested at this stage
  24. If I ever get mine back on the road I'd deffo be up for it!!! progress fixing the car seems to be going backwards, not forwards for the last while though!!!
  25.   C's seem to be multiplying rapidly over here though   I passed three in the space of 20 mins yesterday in Dublin!!!
