What we talking about then??? I'm gonna lose sleep over this one!
-
That is one sweet looking Corrado....definitely getting some Escort Cosworth vibes from the first pic though! Good work my man. vr6storm are you talking about the 18 gallon guage equalling approximately 81.72 litres, or am I missing the point? :? If this is the case it should be noted that 18 US gallons is about 68.13 litres I believe. Jeez I need to get out more too.

Hmmmm....'bout time I got a G60 I think.

...this is the reason no-one but me touches my car....despite it being a bag of s***. Hope you have a pleasant surprise when you investigate! :)

Whats the fastest you have ever been in your Corrado?
bcstudent replied to surfer.vr6's topic in General Car Chat
Indicated just under 140mph in the 1.8 16v....clearly fairly inacurate. That was with the standard wheels. With the 17s it's a different story and it now refuses to rev out in 5th, struggling to top an indicated 125mph. Form over function? I think so! -
Off the top of my head.... 1. About group 15 2. They have the same engine apart from a slightly more restrictive inlet manifold I believe 3. They have a little less power than the Golf (136bhp instead of 139bhp), due to the inlet manifold, and they're heavier so they're a bit slower than the Golf. 4. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5124

What year/reg is the Cupra? My mum (:!:) drives a 53-reg Cupra, bought from new with about 8k on the clock - probably worth about 13k still according to the Autotrader.... Lovely motors by the bay...great choice. Way nicer to drive and almost as quick as my mate's overpriced Civic Type-R....and about 10mpg more!

Crazymarcel putting the VR up agains the R6 would be like knife at a gun fight....although I'm sure you were only kidding! My mate actually believed he had a chance in his Civic Type-R yesterday.....poor chap. Funny thing is the R6 ain't all that fast by bike standards really....0-60 in around 3 seconds and an eventual 165mph apparently. I don't know if you're aware of the Coltishall straight on the North Walsham - Norwich Road, but I managed an indicated 178mph down there on the new Honda Fireblade a couple of months ago (had the road closed for the test of course ). Now that's what I'm talking about! Bikes rock....cars suck. End of!

Have I set an official record ... for the most written-off ?

All that damage and it's still in better nick than mine! -
Crazymarcel Your VR wouldn't happen to be grey on an L-plate would it? If so I filtered past you in the traffic at the Aylsham Road lights yesterday (Friday) on a Yamaha R6. I pulled a wheelie away from the lights to get the driver's attention, but the car may have been too far back to notice! God I love those wheelies.... * Edit * Never heard of Whitenoise before, despite having owned Vee Dubs for the last eight years and it being held within pi**ing distance of my house. I'll likely be there....can't see any reason not to be. I just noticed that you stated your car is blue in that last post. My bad.

I think that sort of service is pretty standard from most re-sellers. Your chances of getting a refund that close to the end of the warranty period are slim to non-existent. I believe refunds and goods exchanges generally only take place in the first month or so. I'm having the same problem with a knackered Asus motherboard at the moment. As I'm eight months into the warranty the re-seller I bought from is only prepared to sent the faulty item back to the manufacturer on my behalf for repair....a procedure that could take up to six months to complete! If you're sure of the fault then you may as well attack it yourself in my opinion. I certainly would.

BeavisJem I drive a black 1.8 16v, reg no. G*** YMG, running on 17'' polished 10-spokes. It's easily recognisable at the moment as the front end is all messed up following a shunt in the February snow. I got a front panel and bumper iron from Volk-a-part yesterday so if I can get off my arse soon it may get sorted. The general condition of the car is poor as I was using it as my work vehicle and it's done almost 20k miles in six months (without anything breaking on it too!). Time to give it some love I think...it certainly deserves it. I don't actually live in Norwich. I just put it down as most people on this forum wouldn't have a clue where North Walsham is. It wasn't me in the Roys car park I'm afraid. I spend much more time on the bike these days, so if you see a red 03-plate Yamaha R6 pulling wheelies around the city, that'll probably be me. If you wanted to arrange a meet in Norwich sometime I'll be there. Never been out in a G60 before...

You know what? This is the most enjoyable thread I've read to date. For the record I'm with Blue on this. I regularly drive a 53-reg Leon Cupra and have to say that the combination of a well-chosen turbo and a high-flow cyliner head has resulted in the most pleasing power delivery I can imagine. These engines are fantastic....power everywhere. My only criticism is the choice of a 6-speed 'box for the 180bhp version. Why fit a close ration gearbox to an engine this flexible? I just don't get it....must be a marketing thing. Amongst all that drivel I'm just trying to say that If that sort of power delivery is achievable by turbocharging a G60 then I'm officially looking for one with a blown 'charger! That's my 2p at the risk of taking things slightly :offtopic1: for a second. *cough* Turbo *cough*

I agree....oil + bores = dodgy

Definitely going to be a Digifant PB engine then. The change was in 1987 so all F-plate cars onwards had the later engine, as well as some E-plates.....if I remember correctly. I think you'll find that the ECU on the Digifant cars does a lot more work than the basic ignition module found on the early K-jet cars. I've had a couple of Digifant Mk.2 Golfs and they both had running issues that I could never fully solve. However, on the bright side you say you've got two of the main ingredients of internal combustion, namely fuel and ignition, so the solution is probably not that far away. When you say there's nothing after it threatens to fire, what happens? Does it just continue to turn over with no life? Are the plugs soaked in petrol or does it seem that the fuel supply has stopped? If it were me I'd be making all the basic checks first such as, like Henny suggests, looking at the cam timing. However, my friend had a 16v Mk.2 that ate the Woodruf key for the bottom pulley and the timing slipped a bit every time he booted it. It still ran, but just got worse and worse. It never stopped completely. I can't see that this is the problem but that doesn't mean that it's not. Sorry that I'm rambling and generally not being much help. I'll sleep on this for sure. Keep us posted.

It won't be the last bodge I perform on the car, that's for sure! Cheers guys.

Saw a lovelly lady in a blue K-plate VR6 at the Drayton Road roundabout in Norwich today (about lunch time)....she/you looked kinda disgusted about the state of the Corrado I was in....hence why I didn't put my hand up!
-
What year is the Golf? Is it an early K-jet engine (EV code IIRC) or the later Digifant lump (PB code)?
-
...so all front panels will fit an early 16v then? Is that what you're saying? btw, cheers for the quick reply
-
Ok, this is the closest I can find to a thread that answers my question....however I'm not quite there yet. The question is this: Today I picked up a front panel for a Corrado at a scrapyard. However, from the colour of the panel I'd day it's from a late-ish car. I notice that when people advertise front panels for sale they often make the point about it being from an early or late car. Is it going to fit my 1990 1.8 16v if it's from a late car? It looks pretty damn similar!
-
That's a great story! Love it. However, if the car has got a G60 'charger strapped on isn't calling it a G40 slightly misleading? You know what, ignore me....this has gone on long enough! :D
-
Which was going quicker...the Corrado or the photographer trying to get out of it's way? :-P Nice pic btw
-
Does this mean that it's actually a G60 or what? I don't get it.

What on earth is a "G60 FULL BLEND SUPERCHARGER?" :?:
