im not at work today due 2 the fact my car only has 3 wheels :cry: I was trying 2 replace the 2 wheel bearings, front and back, and have buggered the rear caliper up, but the problem is with the front, i thought the wheel bearing had gone, but the play seems 2 be in the suspension, from the top and bottom of the wheel, you ans move it about 5-10 mm, when the car is jacked up, but no movement sideways, so i have brought a wheel bearing for nothing! the top mount i think has gone, or is loose, but there only a year old, this normal??? Oh and any good ideas on how 2 get a piston back in on the rear caliper?? So i can go 2 work tomorrow! :(

cool, but i can knock the rears in with a hammer n socket cant i? went 2 get some new hubs today and they were bloody expensive!! :shock:

im just about 2 go shopping for loads of bits like u do for ya C!!! im relpacing the front wheel bearing, and heard u need i 20 ton press or something, or 2 make it easyer buy a new hub and the wheel bearing will be in place? do i need 2 buy a wheel bearing as well, or does it just come with the casing fitted 2 the hub??

cool, the bump stops didnt, so looks like new bump stops and new top mounts, why new top mounts tho?? sorry bout 100 questions, just trying 2 get ma head round it! cheers in advance 8)

Right, so thats not good then i take it!?!?! the bushes came in the new shocks didnt they? i didnt replace anything, just the new shocks n new springs, it only bangs on 1 side, i thought it was the petrol pipe! so nothing 2 worry about..... :oops:

looking at the photos, when i replaced my rear springs n shocks, the 'bump stops' where about 2 inchs big n falling apart, but never replaced them, this why my car makes BAD grinding/rubbing noise when i go over a bump with full tank n 2 peeps in it??? how/why are these so important??

ummmmm, its not 3.52, its nearly 5!!!!! think the clock is wrong.... :shock:

AAAAGRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG only just finished!!! took 30 mins 2 get it out, 3 n a half hours 2 get it back in!!!! bloody nightmare!!! and the problem...... the engine mounts!!! took a hour 2 devise a system 2 hold the engine up, and had 2 slacken off all the engine mount nuts 2 let it 'slip'in! but quick service 2 the starter motor, and she turns over like new!! so it was all worth it in the end, savesd us having 2 buy a new one, the solinoid is very easy thing 2 clean up!! cheers for the advice, even tho i didnt get it till now!!! :D :D

just about 2 rip off mine, and was just wondering if anyone know's of any known problems, or is it just the 2 bolts n it should slide out? just my mate did it on his astra once, and something fell in the flywheel, so had 2 split it.... :roll: hoping this will be nice easy one!!!... chers in advance :D

niceeeeee! looks like the prob of ropey powerd corrado has been solved! halford here i come! are they the same as golf 16 ones? think there were 2 different part numbers last time there, had the golf ones but not C ones? its just the lead that goes 2 the dizzy cap, not an actual ht lead, and its only a tiny tiny little spark!?! CHEERS YOU HAVE MADE ME A HAPPY MAN THO BY SOUNDS OF IT!!!! :D

this sounds just like the problem with my car! is it a kind of toxic petrol smell? i also noticed the other day i could see the 'main' HT lead had an arc between an earth on the engine!?!? so not good i should imagine? so maybe we have a similar problem, how much doe it throw the performance out, cos i have never been really 2 impressed with it so far! feels like something is missing...like a spark!

ouch! thought it was bout that tho, so is that an orig spec part? the spraying? tis an easy job i think, can i have it all sprayed n then fitted sort of while i wait??
