    Anoying rattle

My car has a few rattles that have got steadily worse after fitting Koni suspension  Any advice on fixing any of the following much appreciated...:) 1st cause: Sunroof seems set slightly off closed. from the outside it looks closed, but on the inside the middle is rasied slightly like the roof is about to tilt. It then rattles away until I press the button one click to open....but then it pops out of the roof slightly. The total closure alarm resets it to this wrong position everytime I lock the car and I don't know how to reset the 'home' position. 2nd: Passenger side handle seems to have lost the tension in it's return spring, so it's free to move around and rattle. Can you replace this without removing the door card? 3rd: The glovebox doesn't shut properly, the catch looks fine but you have to really slam it to make it hold, and then it's still slightly open. How hard is it to remove the glovebox? Can I just replace the door?

    Colour coding

My VR is going into the bodyshop on the 3rd to have some paintwork touched up and I'm thinking of having the rub strips and handles colour coded at the same time....I'm just not sure the handles will look right. :? Anyone got any pics of a car that's had this colour coding done?
  3. I've bought some discs and pads and am going to have a crack at changing the rears on my VR this week. Anyone done this recently and/or have any hints/tips to make the job easier? Cheers :)
  4. It's got an Audi TT 225 engine in, and some NOS  He's stuck a thread up here, not sure if he got any pics though.... http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread ... &page=last
  5. I have the later style OBD2 connector, I'm in Oxford, and am happy to let people use it if they come to me. :)
  6. Another couple of vids, shot from my mates car rather than mine this time so no road angel in the way. http://gti6.desertforce.com/FrontRear.wmv Check this out for a good save! The Porsche was in the way for about 7 laps and still refused to move over http://www.wacky-design.co.uk/yeungster/porsche.wmv
  7. Thanks for the comments guys :) Vid is from Oulton Park - Cheshire, my VR is basically standard bar a set of Koni TA's. Has a Scorpion cat-back and drilled front discs with some M1144 pads, but that's it. Was great fun overtaking some of the faster machinery. 8)
  8. Thought you guys might be interested to see this, shot from my Corrado at Oulton on Saturday. Thought the road angel would show the speed but it just ended up getting in the way, won't do that next time. Oulton Park video (15.2MB) No comments on the choice of music  I have some more video (without music)....including a bit of redlee spinning on the first chicane :-P).....but I've got no where to host it at the moment.
  9. White modified Corrado on the A34 heading towards the A420 near Oxford, saturday at about 7:10PM....I was in the grey-violet VR, had a quick play before pulling off at Peartree, sorry if I was 'over-enthusiastic' was on the way home from Oulton and was still a bit revved up  Car looked good 8)
  10. I recon some Liquid metal will sort it, probably be stronger than the original material
  11. Just done one of these and it's quite different to most cars I've done... Here's a run through.... You will need: An 8mm allen key or preferably socket. A HUGE (36mm) socket. A small screwdriver or a small nail or something to remove the old filter gasket from the plastic filter cover. A 19mm wrench for the sump plug. A VW filter. A rubber sealing ring. A new sump plug washer (although I found my plug had a non-removable steel washer when I removed it :?) Steps: Warm oil. Remove the oil-cap from the top of the engine so that the oil will drain better. I did the filter drain first, but I don't think it matter which way around you do it. Use the 8mm hex to remove the drain plug from in the middle of this plastic cover and leave to drain for 15mins. Watch out for the coolant(?) pipes that run directly underneath it, I just pulled it out the way a bit and shoved a bit of rag on top to try and stop it getting too oily. Here's the plug. When the oils stopped running out use the 36mm socket to remove the plastic cover, don't try and use an adjustable spanner as it just bends the cover. Use the small screwdriver (or basically any small item capable of grabbing that o-ring) remove the rubber o-ring from the plastic filter cover. Take your new one and oil it up a bit. Place the new o-ring onto the plastic filter cover the way the previous one was. Take the new filter and attach it to the plastic filter cover... it should click into place. Take the aluminum plug and screw it back in there. It's just made out of aluminum, so don't screw it in too hard. Now remove the sump plug with the 19mm socket and drain the oil like any other car. In the words of Haynes, re-fitting is the reversal of removal  Mine took about 6-6.5litres of oil to fill. Hope this helps :)
  12. The wheels are 17" wheelmain lions, they're pug fitment, don't know why the spec says different. If it's a photoshop it's fine work. I really like the reiger grill.....so much so I've got one on mine
  13. Saw this on another forum, looks absolutely spot on IMO. Nice one to whoever it is. 8) Just need a VR enging in there now
  14. That's strange indeed mate, I've used version 311.6 and the latest non-beta (4.06 I think) and on both, I just clicked auto-scan, saved the codes to note pad and clicked the 'Clear Codes' button. That did it for me, does it give you any error messages or just exit the screen?
  15. Ahh so it's the ICV....which presumably has a stepper motor in it. I know these things all too well being an-ex pug man. Saying that I've cleared the codes and done 80miles and they haven't come back yet, hopefully I'll be able to get away without spending any dosh for a bit longer
  16. So what exactly is "Idle Regulation Adaption", stepper motor? :?
  17. Jimjam, If you do a search for "VAG OBD" it comes up with quite a few, but here's a link to the same one I bought. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW Supercharged, yep it's a VR6. I've cleared the codes so I'll give it a couple of days then re-read it. Once again thanks for the advice dude 8) Is Idle Regulation done with a stepper motor? p.s. If anyone around the Oxford/Witney area needs their fault codes read, drop me a PM :)
  18. Right, looks like I'll be needing to order a new sump then. GSF / Eurocarparts pattern ones OK?
  19. Ok got it working, the cable was a tight fit and felt like it was connected when in actual fact I hadn't pushed it on enough  Wonder what the extra pin on the car is for? :? Anyway, I've got two fault codes.... 00525 - Oxygen Sensor (G39) - 19-10 - Lower Limit - Intermittent. 00533 - Idle Regulation Adaption - 09-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent So I take it I need a new lambda and Idle regulation sensor (?) :( The car seems to be running fine although I have had erratic idle, cured by an on/off, a couple of times in the last 6 months, just not recently.
  20. Thanks mate. 8) Can you tell me how I check my ECU number? i.e. where is the ECU on the VR6?
  21. I didn't notice it smelling "nutty" but I have battered that sump a bit  It's not losing much oil at all, just a 'sweat' covering the surfaces as you say Kev. Think I'll try a new sump gasket next time I do an oil change. In the mean time I'll just keep an eye on it and the level. Thanks for the advice everyone :)
  22. Hi guys, I have bought an OBD/OBD-II lead and a cheap lappy from ebay and I'm having no luck getting it to connect to my car. :( Can anyone tell me if this has the right pin arrangement? On my car I appear to have all the pins on the plug, but also one additional one next to the pair at the top. VAG-COM just says "Error 3:Interface not ready" and the green LED isn't lighting up either. :?
