  1. The newer aero type blades don't last very long at all - My R32 ones are shot and I've already done 2 sets of blades on the Corrado in 3 years. I'd agree with the motors not being up to the job, but it probably has something to do with the now improved or actual touching on the screen at speeds instead of not like the OEM ones did! I was looking at a Golf Plus rear Aero arm and blade the other day... wonder if this would make a nice fit on the Corrado? - Or has anyone else already tried something... then again I should buy a rubber grommit and stop thinking of ways to spend more money on cars. Guy
  2. Thanks for all the comments chaps, I think black or silver is the way to go - Just the matter of effort to get all my wheels painted up now before the show season starts in ernest. Anyone got a cheap contact for the BBS centre caps?
  3. Very impressive.... nice to see some classic valver tuning going on for a change... never mind engine swaps -make to with what you have! Keep up the tremendous work!
  4. Now you would say that Lee eh? - I'm quite a lazy so and so though, hence why I painted my polished inlet manifold to black so I didn't have to keep the autosol out... hence why my feelings are leaning towards Black. It's one of those difficult occasions when I need to rely on driving the C daily and it's got loads of problems / bonnet cable / wiring / alarm / suspension knocks / but I LOVE MY C ;-) - There I've admitted it!
  5. Thanks Andy / Dom - So come on what's the thoughts on colouring the centres. I'm already going to gloss black the 18" LM's on the R32. My choices are Satin Silver (with polished outer rim, keeping the black bolts) or Gloss black (looks wet to the touch) or leave them as they are for the 'jap look' What's people's opinions?
  6. Nope the exhaust appears to be ok. No i'm beginning to think the wheel bearing problem I had on the way back from Le Mans last year has either knackered the bump stops or the H&R's have seen better days. I'm going to order all the OEM mounts and bolts and replace everthing from the coil to the body and see if that solves it.
  7. - Sorry net is playing up here - took ages to upload the snaps for some reason. - All good things come to those who wait Jay ;-) Yeah I had a fun trip back from northern Holland on Friday - Can't wait for the outcome but more importantly the Corrado is going to see some much needed love while the R32 is away. The alarm is playing up, the bonnet cable just snapped (again)... the crashing noise is still happening at the back so I'm going to change all the rear suspsension. Hey ho - It's still an awsome car.... the affair continues!
  8. As it's been such a lovely sunny day I thought I'd take a break from decorating the spare room and give the Corrado a much needed clean and wax... took a trip out to Epsom racecourse to take a few shots and show off my new acquisition: 7.5 x 17 BBS fly weights ;-) A Jap specification wheel that I had to make up some adapters to get them to fit with the right offset and get round the TAROX anchors! I can’t decide on colour yet, but the red caps are sure to changed for some black or silver ones. I thought maybe paint the centres high gloss black but I need to play with photoshop to make sure it will work…. Watch this space. Aren’t I a lucky boy, 2 cars with the nicest sets of wheels that BBS make ;-)!
  9. I'm in the process of doing mine - well I've started the job but got the wrong Powerflex bushes sent :-( A top tip for removing the old bushes is to use a heat gun (diy type for paint stripping) I used it to remove the old ones no bother. And yes the bolts on the bias valve have sheered, but there was no way I am going to spend another £75 and replace the unit... So I hack sawed the old bolt out and I'm going to fit it the other way round, making sure it's not going foul on the brake line of course.
  10. Yep, that's the picture I was talking about. Just to correct the statement RW1 makes... that badges were ordered by the dealer when the car was ordered and fitted upton arrival to the dealership / collection of the customer. I've spoken to several sales staff that remembered doing exactly that ;-)
  11. Thanks ;-) - The pictures are from a magazine - something like VW Motoring from 1994 - I'm going to be selling all my Corrado magazines off soon so I'll be sure to scan and post it before I do.
  12. And here's the said fitting instructions ;-) Interestingly the Badges were made inTurkey by 3M - and were ordered by the dealers when they ordered or were allocated with a Storm by Milton Keynes. I have pictures of the Storms lined up at the docs in Grimsby without any badges - just Solitutdes ;-) It seems that some of the sales staff couldn't get to grip of the location of the bage - or as you say it's been repainted and replaced in the wrong position.
  13. Nice - but that's just a Zender model built, painted etc. Not metal, the number plate stickers are in the kit that I'm selling ;-)
  14. Now put on Ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1
  15. Thanks I guess without problems I will be a lucky chap ;-) No i've only got the front VF mount now, reverted the rear and gearbox mounts back to OEM items because of the what Jeff mentioned.
  16. Friend I'd prefer to say fellow portly squire acquaintance ;-)
  17. Sorry for killing it chaps.... I could go one better I guess as I still have folders of receipts for other Corrado's I've owned. Treat the mrs to a new dress, nah the C gets some new toys instead!
  18. I've actually got an old K plate 1.0 MKIII polo as my banger (mainly for the Mrs to learn to drive in but as she's failed again looks like it's mine!) It's cheap to run, and better on the fuel.... question is can you put up with being looked at like you're a cnut driving about in it. Makes sense with the recent petrol price rises anyway, shame the power steering is lacking - nothing that 40psi tyres don't sort though LOL!
  19. Yep that can be repaired too ;-) as well as the mileage!
  20. I started going through my receipts folder the other weekend. I've started a spreadsheet and including buying the car £22.500 It was getting upsetting when the running total was over 40k. That doesn't include routine services either... mainly mods / paint etc.
  21. Time to throw my spanner in I guess. The Corrado (modified or not) and the R32 are completely different cars with different driving experiences. IMHO the C is far more fun to drive, more involved and has far more feeling. The R32 is a true cruiser and is very comfortable, has all the mod cons. However the R32 isn’t exactly suited as a daily driver especially in town traffic with it’s fluffy fly by wire throttle responses. I used to hate the MKIV chassis that was until I saw the R32 in deep blue pearl at the motor show in October 2002. – Placed an order there and then! Earlier in the year I was actually really fed up with the R32, and bought an S3 to see if that was a suitable replacement. - Here’s a list of some of the problems I’ve had so far since ownership: 1/ A Serious amount of rattles, esp. coming from drivers door mechanism. 2/ Stitching came apart on steering wheel. 3/ Air Flow meter died (could have been down to a short use of K&N 57i) 4/ Wiring and electrical faults, traced to a spot weld in the rear of the car that had chaffed wires through the loom. 5/ Leaking fuel tank / seal popped on inspection hatch under rear seats. 6/ Changed side light bulbs over 6 times, some issue with the Xenons for some reason but it’s a common fault. The annoying thing is on the drivers side you have to drop the bumper to change the fecking bulb! 7/ The most serious – Coil pack failure that actually caused an engine fire! 8/ Drivers Side window regulator – cable snapped! 9/ The Sump is terribly low and I’ve already cracked one… ok that may have been down to my ‘taking off’ over a hump back bridge. ;-) but it’s constantly getting ‘scratched’! 10/ Other annoyances…Recling the front seats they hit the headlining or sun visor unless they are moved to the lowest position first. Did I mention the rattles… MKIV standard interior trim and the like is ok on 1.4 or MATCH golf but when you are on R32 suspension it’s a joke. I enjoyed owning the S3 for a couple of months, but it wasn’t a Corrado or a R32, I decided the R32 was more fun to drive, more comfortable and you can’t beat a 6 cylinder engine after all. I had too much invested in the R32 to sell on, (plate, mods, tracker etc..) So I’ve decided to keep it and drive/mod it further and have even more fun. Having said and listed all those faults, there are days when I thoroughly enjoy driving the R32, but if I had to pick in honesty it would have to be the Corrado. Right at the moment I can still see myself owning both cars in the next 5 years, the C for life but probably not the R32. I think the R32 / MKIV is more understated (unless you have the Miltek pipes that is!) and I get less attention in the golf than the C. Really though… for me when I park the Corrado somewhere that’s not it’s lair I always worry about it. The R32 I’m not so bothered about, it’s insured and it’s not a love affair like the C(yet!) Well the long and short of it IMHO is to keep both cars if you can afford the space / insurance etc, if you can’t and it has to be one save some cash buy a banger and keep the Corrado!
  22. I've had trouble communicating with EIP, but at least they no longer seem to bounce all UK originated e-mails as suspected SPAM which is good news and saves on the phone bills. I dealt with Mike in the end so far have nothing to complain about, that is providing I see my kit in the next 2 weeks! - Ordered over a month ago. Compared to the HGP/HPA kit the EIP turbo kit is far neater on the R32 anyway.. not to mention the saving of over £2k. Interesting to see what you are going for Lee, i toyed with turbo'ing the Corrado as it was already up for more forced induction with the forged pistons. But now that the engine side of things are very reliable I opted for R32 fun! ;-) As soon as I've got the kit installed and running on their map (have to send my ECU to the states for bench mapping) I'll probably be visiting AmD for a reliable map and detailed figures.
  23. I've got a spare Zender model if anyone wants one... Afraid they are £50+postage (min as that's what they cost me when I imported them from the States...) PM Or one could go on Fleecebay
  24. On all the Corrado digital clocks I've played with, it's a matter of removing the pod, getting to the PCB and reading / writing to the EEPROM. I haven't been able to do one via the cluster plug as yet. If you want a correction just give me a PM.
  25. Didn't know you posted that here Mr Radford ;-) Confirming it's an AmD Stage 3 setup I have, I'm keep thinking about a forced induction option though :-/
