There's plenty of jacks to choose from i would go for a good well known brand, the quality of the axel stand is equally important as i know someone who had a bad experience with bad quality stands. have you tried looking at tool station, screw fix, and machine Mart? Machine Mart http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/search/filter/trolley-jacks-bottle-jacks-transmission-jacks/type/any/module/shopcategory/page/1?da=1&TC=SRC-AUTO-trolley Clarke is a good choice. This mine a Magnex with the suit case removed

You should be ok Jay. Use some thinners to clean your brushes if you use Hammerite paint or when you have done bin the brush. As for doing the job wire brush on a drill or a hand brush to clean the loose rust off. I would go for a couple of coats of paint should be good for a few years then. Might be able to do the wish bones etc with the wheels removed, not quite sure though. When are you thinking of starting it btw?
-
I'd be inclined to agree with Maff. Given the amount of problems you have i would take in to a car trish to go through the wiring with a fine toothed comb.

You could also check the air filter is clear. fuel injection system. Faulty injector. spark plugs. (will be black in colour if running rich). Good luck keep us posted. -
Yes Kev is right some stations do the early click off. fill it up whats that?:shrug: My fuel gauge only reads half! :thumbleft::rolleyes: Seriously I may have a problem with my sender, when the car is facing down hill it reads higher. needle tends to move up and down when driving but never going pass the amount i have put in? If that makes sense...hmm Dunno?

I'd go to another tyre fitting shop and have all the wheels checked for balance, before thinking about bent stuff and replacing parts that are ok.
-
The car looks well and it looks like it has a bit of TLC in the past. Good find.

Who was the insurance company?

There are plenty of helpful guys on the forum what i'm sure will help you out. I'm not up on the sun roof / spoiler repair, how to and what to check. It will be a process of elimination i guess. Checking the fuses first / power feeds to the switches and condition of them, etc and then going further into it like checking the mechanical side. It is a common problem on the C but they are both fixable. I see you have bought a G60 very good, hope the charger is good. I see you are in Cleethorpes just a hour away from me. :thumbleft:

£500 car race for charity - Finished car (PICS) ready to race!
Ray1965 replied to Hofmiester's topic in Wanted
That paint was in a real bad state for it come off with an air hose!:salute: What did you decide to do with the suspension in the end? -
I have a 2005 Audi 2L TDI. for 3 years now. I have had issues with a noisy , turbo actuator making a squeaking noise when the gas pedal was pressed, very very annoying, the actuator is part of the turbo housing and is built in so can not be interchanged the whole turbo had to be renewed, this a bad design. Had a leak on the radiator common fault apparently usually in the bottom corners so check the condition. Replaced under warranty. Belts and all tensioners were done, and should be done at around 65 to 70 thousand i think according to my manual. I've just had a rear ABS sensor changed £30 for part. I did a trip to swansea last year. 500 mile round trip. returned 56 to the gallon at 70 and 80 mph. All in all a good car just keep it serviced and you should be ok. I great car to drive and plenty of bottom end power.
-
Never thought of that. My car is parked on my drive way with big gates (enclosed) will be a bit hard tbh. I have no locking wheel nuts at present.
-
Hi there mate. As Mr Vag said another Yorkshire lad. I'm from Rotherham town. Been following your antics with the C nice job. Where about's are you in Rotherham? Will have to meet up at some stage.
-
Last couple of days i've driven the C around on a few short trips, and i have noticed a single knocking noise coming from the drivers side rear wheel arch suspension area. It sounded like it was inside the car. So i took the jack, parcel shelf, and fire extinguisher out of the boot and went out today to do a 35 mile round trip. I went 1 mile down the road and promptly came back home as it was knocking like a good un! thinking it was the suspension, the wheel bearing and everything else were falling off. Then the panic stopped, when going to take the wheel off i found all the bloody wheel nuts were loose !! :bonk::shocked!::censored: Moral to this story guys, Check Your Nuts !! :thumbleft:

Mine is the same, I bought my VR last year, according to the service history it had a new clutch fitted and i get the metallic noise. Press the clutch pedal a small amount and it goes away.
