Been on my hols for 2 weeks in Croatia loved it , came back and started my car up after being stood for this time, it was not firing but turning over ok, it then fired up only to smell a strong smell of petrol, found to be a loose clip on the main feed pipe had strangely come loose whilst parked on my drive way, and was spraying fuel all over the under side of the car and onto the drive way. All sorted now.

I had this the other week, one little spray of WD40 with top plastic cowl removed and it had gone.

This? Electric fuel pump. http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Fuel-pump-Electric-1-2-bar-Mk2-Golf-Corrado-T4-1H0906091_act_shop.product_pID_34051223.htm?crumbStartPage=1

Quick update, today i have tracked the noise down to the fuel pump (on tank). When it hums it does not start? strange i thought its got to hum to pump fuel? Unless its a relay in there going belly up, dunno will have to investigate further.

battery on car is ok, don't know about the torch.
-
Gotta laugh at the pics Kev. :thumbleft: How long did it take you to google a pic of a shed and a torch? lol. Yes it more like a hum tbh..Whats got me it does not do it every time i go to start it. Hope i haven't got a big money fix on my hands. GULP.

W,ken40?...So whats the answer then?
-
Correct, but does the pump only buzz / whirring for a short time this is constantly on, (with engine not started btw)until you turn the ignition off. No not relay's i hate em. I'm no trician.

Guys, put key in key car to start up, heard a faint buzzing sound turned key, the engine was just turning over but not firing (i know its not the immobiliser as that lets the motor start briefly and then cuts off). Sound was there all the time. Turned ignition off and pulled key. Put back in and the engine started fine no problems. Hmmm

Scrot gangs do my head in, Crazy to the core, riding all over the road, no road sense, riding with no protection gear on not even a pair of gloves. Riding 2 abreast on the road and no tax test or insurance probably. Going to local parks and doing daft things like on the video. We have someone like this up our road, one got his comeuppance the other day slammed it head on into a oncoming car going at 40 mph in a narrow street it was not a very nice site.:splat::splat::pukeright: but having said this, there are probably be some sensible young riders out there.

Ignition switch removal... A tale of success and failure

Jim, when i got he car there was only one key, i have a key cut from the original as a spare. I think i might try this key to see if this one gets stuck. But having said that its only be going to be the same profile as the older key.So might not make a difference? Like i have mentioned its not every time that it gets stuck. -
Chris its simple to do. prep, under coats. top coats. Expensive to buy in a rattle can. My lad has all the gear to spray. He did his full car.

Ignition switch removal... A tale of success and failure

I've got mine to do, when i get motivated to do it. With my switch every now and then the key will not go in it and when it does it wont turn. Also it is very easy to turn the key when the car is running. i believe its best to buy genuine VAG stealer part? daft question time, how does your original car ignition key fit the new switch? -
These are a great design? What do you think? http://www.wimp.com/doorprotector/
