1. Yeah I always torque my wheel bolts up when I'm refitting them, plus you can use a little oil or grease on the wheel bolt threads, this helps the threads to mesh together and makes it a lot easier to do up / undo, plus there's less chance of cross threading them, and less heat being generated especially when air guns are being used. Most garages use air guns and tend to wiz the bolts right up, then they check them with a breaker bar or torque wrench, but some don't. When I had two new tyres fitted to my Polo they wized the wheel bolts right up with an air gun, when I got home I checked them my self and was only just able to undo them with a long breaker bar, I would have had no chance of undoing them by using the standard spare wheel bar / wheel brace. Wheel bolts I think can snap if they've been over tightened which can lead to the threads rounding off, which then makes the thread slightly cross threaded or in some cases totally cross threaded and the bolt jams solid, hence the bolt snapping possily, or the steal can be of poor quality due to the age or by the manufacturer just using cheap steal, which has already been mentioned. If in doubt just purchase some new bolts they don't cost much. Si

3. HI my work colleague has a 2001 MK4 Golf V6 4 motion 3 door, please do any of you know if there's any differences regarding the doors on the 3 door MK4 Golfs. As he has a dent in the drivers door, and has seen some others for sale, off a 3 door Golf but isn't sure if they're the same. I myself don't know of any differences but thought I'd ask you guys & girls just incase there are. Many thanks for any help / advise. Si

isv elbow hose

Hello Craig, that does sound as though the hose you've spoken of is perished. VW main dealer's were stocking this hose back along, as I purchased one with a ISV 3 or 4 years ago. The part number for the small elbow hose is I think 027-133-997AA The other larger ISV hose is part number 051-133-997A Hope this helps. Si

10. Hello there, I've got some new wafer pins if you need any, I don't want to sell them all as I need spares for my self, but don't mind helping out if needed. Here's some photo's that might help if you need to find out your key code set up. The original wafer pins on the vehicle aren't always numbered so it can some times be difficult, to tell which one is which. The lock barrels in the Corrado have wafer pins numbered from number 1 through to number 4, so really depends what set up you have, if your old wafer pins are not numbered then compare them to the photo's below, they hopefully should help you to work out which ones are what. Wafer pin numbered as n.o 1 Wafer pin numbered as n.o 2 Wafer pin numbered as n.o 3 Wafer pin numbered as n.o 4 Hope this helps Si
11. No worries hope you get it sorted. Si
12. I'm not too sure mate to be honest, your best bet is to try your local VW Dealer, or try VW Heritage if they can get you the part you might have to purchase a new check strap, that comes complete with the connector eye that you need. Or I've seen a few sellers on Ebay that do sell a lot of new parts for the Corrado, there might be someone who may sell one ? But like I say if you try your local VW Main Dealer first just in case. Other then that there are a few people off this forum who are scrapping there spare Corrado, and are selling all or most parts off it, you could try them as well ? Si
13. Hello there, the only way really to fix it is to replace the whole thing, i.e the check strap and the connector eye that bolts to the A-pilla. Some cars have a pin complete with a circlip that fixes the check strap arm to the A-pilla connector eye, where as the Corrado uses a bolt and nut. The noise you can here might be where the connector eye on the A-pilla, where the bolt goes through the hole could have warn in a oval shape, or the same can happen to the check strap arm again where it attaches to the A-pilla. Normally a creeking noise is from the spring loaded bearings in the check strap housing, i.e where the check strap arm slides in and out of. Here's a video of removing / replacing a door check strap, it's not from a Corrado but the way you replace the check strap is the same for most cars anyway. Hope this helps Si

19. Hello Diesel, your items I posted this morning at 8:00am via Royal Mail 1st class, so you should have delivery by tomorrow Wednesday 8/10/2014 PS, I've sent you a PM of the above as well. Many thanks Si
20. Hello Diesel, I can do 3 of each of the wafer pins, the ones I have are numbered from 1 to number 4, so (3 of one), (3 of two), (3 of three) and (3 of four) And I'll let you have 8 of the small springs as the old ones they can break up. £5.00 all in. The new wafer pins and springs work out about £0.20 per each, plus the cost of a fist class stamp and envelope = £5.00 all in. PS, I've sent you a PM of the above as well, just need confirmation that you're from UK Mainland ? Many thanks Si
21. Hello Rob, no worries mate hope you get it sorted. Si
22. Hello Diesel, if Dude VR6 can't help then give me a shout as I've got loads of them, as I bought a complete full set from my local VW main dealer, earlier in the year. I've got all the different sized wafer pins, complete with the small springs. I don't want to sell them all but don't mind helping like I say if Dude VR6 hasn't got any left. Si
23. Had a oil leak from my engine on my 2.0 16v Corrado, it was the breather hose that had split open, the one from the engine block breather housing to the air filter box. Tried my local main dealer but was told it was obsolete. Looked on the VW Classic Parts site under Corrado, Golf and VW Passat, anyway found the part under VW Passat (9A) 2.0 16v The part number is: C027-103-217/G cost is £33.55 + VAT = £40.26 Hope this helps. Si
24. Hello there, fuse number 10 is for the fog lights (15 amp fuse) Relay number 10 is for the fog lights, this relay might have a number 53 stamped on it. (this relay is on the bottom row directly above fuses 12 to 14) There might be two relays side by side with the number 53 stamped on them, the one on the right is for your horns which is relay position 11, and the one on the left is for the fog lights which is relay position 10 Looks like on the back of the fuse box at the top there's a blue 10 pin multi plug in position P, this is where the wiring from the fog light switches and part of the rear demister wiring plug into. Fuse 17 is for the indicators and hazard warning lights (10 amp fuse) Fuse 9 looks like it's for the rear window demister (20 amp fuse) You should have power from the fuse box to the switches in question, then once the switches are operated they should then return back through the relay and out to which ever object is to be turned on. Check your relay is working correctly, the one in position 10 I'll have another look in the bentley manual if I get time. Hope this helps Si

fueling issue

Just found this fuel pump complete with sender unit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PETROL-PUMP-ELECTRIC-3-0-BAR-WITH-FUEL-SENDER-UNIT-VW-VOLKSWAGEN-/371108407969?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item5667c8eaa1 States the pump will fit Corrado's 2.0 8v, 2.0 16v, 2.9 VR6 and it's £40.80 like I say comes complete with the sender unit already attached to fuel pump.
