  1. not 100% sure but i'm thinking it could be either a faulty sensor on the gearbox or possibly a fault in the wiring. sorry i aint no expert in this department. B

    couple of problems

here goes there a few fuel pump buzzes loudly constantly i think its the fuel pump as it only starts to make a noise when i de activate the immobilser then continually stays on. does this just need replcaing or is sometninh wrong here? the indicators flash when the alarm is activated but dont from the stalks and therefore the green led on the clocks stays lit up when the ignition is turned on. the hazards flash when the hazard button is pressed, so does this mean the relay is ok and the problems is coming from the alarm? and the last one is where is the wiring loom for the mirrors as i have put in newer style door cards but the wiring wasn't even there, the car is a h reg 1.8 16v. thanks B. :D

    is it dead

ok called out a mechanic who reckons its gonna be the head gasket, although he aint sure why the silver looking thing under the car is continually buzzing, its not the fuel pump in the boot. any tips on changing a headgasket and what year or part no's do i ask for to get the metal gasket rather than the other type? :?: thanks Bobby

i don't think there is a haynes manual on the corrado so shall i use the one that covers the mk2 golf as the engine is the same isn't it? i had a mk golf when i was 17 so i may still have the haynes for that knocking about, thanks. will begin the strip down on the weekend then, just wanna make sure that its something to do with the gasket first rather than doing the gasket and then it still don't want to fire up. Is gasket set 150 for a valver? might be worth looking into getting a cheap mk2 golf lump complete.

thanks fella for getting back to me so quickly i wiil check fueling and ignitions sparks are all good and then go from there, just looks scary as i've done headgakets on polo's before, 8 valves though and the idea of taking the manifold of the back seems scary on a fourteen year old car. i think all will become clear once the heads off and my expert inspection tecniques can be used............ not), how difficult is it to remove the head on a valver a lot of work? thanks Bobby :D

henny and big mac thats much appreciated, i'm hoping its something thats not to bad, the buzz can be heard from inside the car and is quite loud!! also the oil level is quite high on the car could this suggest something , although it could have been high when i picked it up. Atleast something works the oil pressure switch  i will do the checks as u say henny tonight. would'nt the car start if the gasket had blown and just have a lack of power, sorry i'm no engine expert, did changing the gasket sort your car out henny? i'm hoping i aint banana'ed the head cos i aint got the money to fix anything until i sell my mk4 polo. :( thanks again guys i seriously apprecaite your suggestions

    is it dead

After picking up my corrado from birmingham i was driving it back and the temp gauge stated to flash so i pulled into the services to check the water levels to realise that water was leaking out of the side of the expansion tank (at the side where the cover goes over, looks like an a original hole not a crack or anything). Anyway after topping up the water level i thought it should be ok to get to the next services so set off. whilst on the motorway the temp start flash again along with the some buzzer (petrol) although i had filled the tank before i set off. anyway pulling into the next service station realise theres steam coming from under the bonnet, whilst pulling in to carpark the car stops completely. so i check the coolant and see theres none left in!!! decided to leave the car at the services and had it recovered back to leeds the next day. Anyway now got it home and tried to start it up sounds like it really wants to fire up but wont, i've checked the oil no sign of creaming seems ok (gasket job)but no coolant could have mixed as there wasn't any!! and now when i turn the ignition on there is a constant buzz noise from the under side of the car near the fuel tank (silver cylinder looking thing underneath drivers side back quarter) what is this and what does it do? had some friends round to get some advice, they suggested to check the condition of the spark plugs, and if fuel is being delivered (any ideas how to do this?). the corrado is a 1.8 16v on a h reg a nd was stood for a few months before i bought it. Is there anything else i should check before i start going deeper into the problem (thank god the engine didn't seize up!!) i'm thinking it may be something electrical burnt out? any pointers would be much appreciated guys as i was looking foward to owning a corrado now i finally get one i may have cocked it up big time   thanks bobby :?
  8. ok guys got the car home in one piece, looks like i may have cooked the engine when i had to pull of at the services cos all the coolant had leaked out.
  9. Easy, its my corrado gonna get my arse down there from leeds to checks its still good before the recovery picks it up for me later, thanks again sanj for sticking this topic up, if any fellow c owners do fly down that way any re assurance my c's all good would be much appreciated. I'm telling u thats the last time i get cover from the RAC, jokers!! 10 mile breakdown coverage, i might aswell walk home if i break down 10 miles away. will keep u guys posted how i get on tonight, thanks B. :D p.s. its a h reg valver bally
  10. i've always liked the fat dish look, got to agree that 17's do look the best fit in filling the corrado's arches anybody running a c on 15's with a stupid drop? Phat VR6 your only up the road from me yet i aint seen that monster mk2 about, after your mk was one of the main dubs that got me into the dub scene.
  11. sounds like something inside the tyre although i may only become loose at high speeds, try use 3 of the new wheels and put a origianl 15" to replace the suspect one then drive it that way u can tell if it is only thet wheel, well thats what i would do anyway.

    rubbish paint match

i always use cream/biege primer i think its is down to rubbish base coat match, the guy i go to uses lechler paint is this any good? i'll go see him agian and see what he thinks the first batch he sold me was perfect match. i'm gonna blow in the wing when i do the door, too lazy to do the quarter aswell.
  13. i'll give dms in leeds a ring and see what they are saying mate as they have got one in, but knowing them jokers its cheaper to go to main dealer, im serious. sorry to hear about your slide, i had some fun in the polo when it snowed to, but a E36 ouch. :(
  14. After spaying my door using pearl dragon green (sorry its a mk4 polo soon to be sold to buy a corrado) i realised that the paint match i was given was shoddy, it lacked any bluey pearl and was significantly darker, i have flatted the laquer down and buff the door which very slighty lightened the colour. i don't think the door would have needed a base coat as it was already metallic green underneath but i primered over this any way as it was too dark. Any painters out there no what the problem is a rubbish paint match or a lack of blue basecoat. I sprayed my 16v bumpers in the same colour but from a different batch and the match is perfect and they were never basecoated just straight primered first. One last thing any ideas on paint prices from vw for say a litre of pearl. any help would much appreciated B.

  17. does anyone know what the score is with insuring and maintaining a us corrado. as i have spotted a light front end damage us g60 and was wondering if panels of a uk corrado would fit tio repair it, i know the headlightswould need to be changed to uk spec ones or them stick on things would be needed. also what would insurance be like,a lot more than a uk g60? Would it be a problem when it comes to mot time? thanks in advance B. :D
