coolrado 0 Posted May 20, 2005 Made a mess of my recaros though! what you pooing yourself when the dash went up in flames or the fire itself
Bojmobile 0 Posted May 20, 2005 It happened whilst parked at night! Neighbours heard the horn going (wires must have melted and fused) and phoned the fire brigade. Two engines no less! After it was all sorted my mate tried the ignition and absolutely everything came on - headlights, horn, wipers etc. to which he replied "Well that's gotta be a first - everything working on a Ford!"
pimp 0 Posted May 20, 2005 Yeah they didn't make much effort to put it out, is that what happens when you put that many gauges on your dash? I must say the choice of song made me smile.
Bojmobile 0 Posted May 20, 2005 Song choice was brilliant - you gotta laugh at these things otherwise you'd just cry.
pimp 0 Posted May 20, 2005 That's the truth. I fried the dash on my m3 escort with some dodgy stereo wiring only a few months after I got it. I was gutted at the time. Makes me laugh now.
Phil K 0 Posted May 20, 2005 Gutted for the owner... that Golf looked like it's had a lot of work/money gone into it! I swapped the ignition barrel in my mk1 Golf, took it for a test drive and had to stop as it started smoking badly! Turned engine off and luckily it stopped... towed it home to inspect the damage - which had burnt most of the ignition wires and had also got the indicator stalk! Not good but gave me a reason to upgrade to the mk2 Golf wiper/indicator stalks 8)
Henny 0 Posted May 20, 2005 owww yah! mmmmm thats why i have a fire extinguisher in the boot!! Ain't no bloody use in the boot mate... get it in the cabin where you're sat... Both of my Corrados have small powder extinguishers in them close to hand and I'm about to pick up a BIG powder one too which should at least give me time to rescue a few bits out of the car before it goes completely should the worst ever happen... :|
