Ronan 0 Posted October 7, 2005 I have noticed my footwell is damp sometimes on the passenger side - i saw the topic about someone's heater matrix - could it be that? My heaters seem to work absolutely fine, and there doesn't seem to be any dampness around the door seal anywhere, or on the edge of the carpet coming down from the door. Help would be appreciated, cheers.
dinkus 10 Posted October 7, 2005 It could be your matrix leaking a bit, verging on impending doom  - does the carpet smell like coolant (take a sniff of the contents of your header tank and compare with carpet smell) - if so then eep. Otherwise (and TBH, sounding more likely) - It could just be leaves blocking the drain gutters - have a search cos I'm sure someone has posted up how to clean them out. Lippy 0 Posted October 7, 2005 i have a similar prob sometime, an there is loads of leaves under the ECU plastic cover, so I think it must be something to do with them. It is really intermittant so cant say for sure....

markmcie 0 Posted October 7, 2005 Check for leaves in the scuttle panel. Also left the black plastic housing on the passenger side. Check the gasket is not perished. Mine was so I had to use a bit of sealer to stop the water getting in. Worked a treat.
gsbellew 0 Posted October 7, 2005 Most likely leaves blocking the drains. lift the bonnet and clear away on the passenger side, the water could either be getting in at the seat as Mark said or building up and flowing in via the fan housing. Clearing the leaves and checking the seal would be the first port of call, after that it'd be the plastic membrane on the inside of the door panel, although that would usually show up as a leak to the rear footwell. daves16v 1 Posted October 7, 2005 Was a leaking fan duct gasket on mine too. Replaced it for about £3 from Stealers. Just a word of warning - the water drips onto the big connector on the ABS controller and eventually finds it's way inside the controller.
Tekara 0 Posted October 7, 2005 My money is the fan duct, happend on mine soon after getting it.
Ronan 0 Posted October 7, 2005 Thanks for the reply guys, i will check tomoro as it's been a busy day. I can't smell coolant in the car so guessing it may be this drain plug, as I say though I will check tomoro. Luckily Daves16v I don't have ABS so it's all good.
