flusted 0 Posted November 10, 2005 Sprayed my car as you might of guessed. Was told to use grey primer (which i did)but car has come out very dark. Sprayed front bumper without priming it,and its came out really bright how i wanted it. Should i have used white primer? or give it a load more coats? sciroccotune 0 Posted November 10, 2005 I have always used red primer with red. My flash red raddo seems to be white primed, from the odd stone chip etc. I cant find any big pics of your car but from the tiny ones it looks nice

sciroccotune 0 Posted November 10, 2005 TBH the bumper looks like the right colour for tornado red
mr.ots 10 Posted November 10, 2005 How many coats of paint did you put on the car? It is certainly a lot darker. It also looks like it needs rubbing down with 1500 wet and dry and compounding to get some shine on it, the finish looks very dull in the pic.
flusted 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Only 2 coats.was told not to rub it down for at least 2 weeks? It was my first attempt
sciroccotune 0 Posted November 11, 2005 yeah needs 2 weeks to set/breathe etc...Will mbe worth waiting and seeing how it comes out. may be a really nice colour when rubbered and polished
dazzyvr6 0 Posted November 11, 2005 from looking at the pics the car looks a little "dry" ,it might come better with a good rub down with 1500
chrishill 0 Posted November 11, 2005 looks alot like the dark red (the correct name of which escapes me) that was availible on corrados from the factory, or at least I think it will when polished up. I reckon it'll look nice, although its probably not as bright and attention grabbing as you'd have liked.
corradophil 3 Posted November 11, 2005 The colour won't change from what it is now, flatting and polishing will only give you a better finish. Well done for having a go yourself, looks good. If you want it the same colour as the bumper, I think you need to be painting it again. In my opinion the there is not enough paint on there, so the red is still a little transparent, showing the colour of the primer underneath.
dazzyvr6 0 Posted November 11, 2005 what paint did you use?
flusted 0 Posted November 11, 2005 cellulose! thanks for all the comments so far, when you rub your hand over the paint it feels very smooth so i presume ive laid it on ok but just not enough paint
corradophil 3 Posted November 11, 2005 If its got a good finish you can't be far our with your spraying. I would have gone for 2 pack paint though. What do you think you'll end up doing? If you like the darker colour, you could always paint the bumper in the same primer, as the rest of the car, and then spray it red to try to match the colour better. Thats what id do, the darker red looks good.
