KADVR6 0 Posted June 22, 2009 Brentacre were very very good when i had my misshap years ago, they did everthing they could to get me the most for my car. Just try and find a similiar spec (not easy for you) corrado and show them how much its worth.
neil20vtc 0 Posted June 22, 2009 thats it though ive looked and cant even find any 20v corrados for sale let alone any like mine so dunno whats gonna happen and ive not ended up claiming through brentacre my mate at the bodyshop put me onto accident exchange who handle non fault claims so ive not had to pay my huge excess got a courtesy car straight away plus they know there engineer so should hopefully help out getting a fairer price neil. pete_griff 0 Posted June 22, 2009 hi Neil, really sorry to hear what's happened - absolutely gutted for you mate. i know how it feels when you've put some much time and effort into a car and then watch it all go Pete-Tong. (can't believe that about the lorry driver - what a total w*nker!!!) please don't take this the wrong way pal - but if you're after a mint shell to do a swap on, then i have one going.... regardless of what happens, it's great to hear you're not hurt and i hope you get something sorted that you're happy with asap. all the best mate, Pete

neil20vtc 0 Posted July 9, 2009 had the lorry drivers insurance engineer on the phone today made me an offer of 6k for my car plus the chance to buy it back for a min of 30% of the payout as said they know its worth quite a bit as salvage what do you guys think?? neil.
ben16v 0 Posted July 9, 2009 to be fair 6k is damn good money for a rado as i imagine they could just sting you for a standard car if they wanted, you still have to pay a lot back but at least youd get it back to sell off the stuff etc, i found that as they increase the payout they tend to up the %cost of buy back - so your looking at 4k and your car back, which when my mate sold his 1.8t corrado for 4.5k a while back is not too bad. good luck with it all such a shame ben
BigTartanJudge 0 Posted July 9, 2009 I would say that is pretty good money TBH mate, you can buy the other one back, but not for 30 %, I would haggle and say £6k plus I buy it back for 20 % Or £7k and will buy it back for 30%, either or. Did your policy have an agreed value on it at all ? If all mods were declared and it was a specialist policy, then all parts should be covered, not just if they are standard OEM. Never accept the first offer from insurance companies anyways. You could buy it back for £1200 if they agree on the 20%, so have £4800 in your hand then make another £3-£4k on bits from it. So potentially you could end up with £8-£9k.
mrbeige 0 Posted July 9, 2009 I agree, it is good money and the option to buy it back is good. The only thing I would make sure of is that you are buying back the complete car and not one that has had some of the goodies already taken off it. But, if at all possible try to reject the first offer, as I think in most cases they expect that really.
neil20vtc 0 Posted July 9, 2009 yeah its a pretty good offer i was glad as was expecting them to try offer silly low at first i dont have an agreed value policy but all the parts were declared and it was insured through brentacre the engineer said it would be 6k plus 30% min but like you say think im gonna say im happy with the 6k but dont wanna pay 30% try get what i can out of them still nothing compared to what ive spent :( but i know id never get that back even if this didnt happen and i know its the whole car as its at my mates work and he wouldnt let anybody take anything off it
Abdul 0 Posted July 10, 2009 Oh god, i feel for you man, car was seriously nice. At least the insurance guys are offering a decent payout! :)
big ben 10 Posted July 10, 2009 with tesco and directline they offer it at a buy back of 10% standard, maybe you can use this to make them drop it... if i was you i would say the 6k im happy with, but i believe you should be chargin me 10%, 20 max... see what they say, i think they should drop it to 20%... let us know how you get on!!
KADVR6 0 Posted July 10, 2009 i agree with everybody above, 6k is a very good price but the 30% to buy the car back is not good. but you seen what you can get for the 6k viewtopic.php?f=12&t=81466
swiftkid 1 Posted July 10, 2009 but you seen what you can get for the 6k viewtopic.php?f=12&t=81466 I was just thinking that, coincidence... i think not. Its fate, fate i tell you!!! FATE!!!

neil20vtc 0 Posted July 15, 2009 well they coughed up 6k for the car but minimum i could get them to sell it back to me for was 1750 not ideal but the engineer didnt want to shift and i want to get back on the road again so i took it as for marcus's car its not the car for me especially after taking delivery of my one made me realise time to move on onto something else, as ive said before probs a mk2 an gonna attempt to do the swap my self and maybe fit a few upgrades along the way  cheers neil.
