JMC 0 Posted June 21, 2006 Sorry folks - just got in and need to let off a bit of steam... Just narrowly avoided being wiped out on a nice fast flowing busy roundabout by some muppet driving a 206, who seemed to have decided 'oh that exit looks nice, lets go for that one, but not tell anybody else what I'm thinking of...'. Thankfully good brakes and a bit space saved the day. It's the way they look at you as well, as if to say 'oh, so you're not a mind reader then'. Apologies if anyone has kids in the Thorpe area near Staines - the air was a bit blue fo a few seconds
veeDuB_Rado 0 Posted June 21, 2006 I made a thread a while ago about people who don't indicate properly, and those who don't indicate atall. My biggest annoyance is those who indicate early on coming round a roundabout! :x
JMC 0 Posted June 21, 2006 It really is unbelievable, isn't it?? It's not as if it's complicated - 'yes, I'd like to go right, I'll signal right now, now I want to come off, I'll signal left now. There we go everyone knows what's going on, and everyones happy'. Noooo, too easy, too uncomplicated, much better to have 'Let's signal at random points or even not at all, that'll make everyones dull boring lives so much more interesting, and I can be the centre of attention again'. Right, calm, ignorance is bliss and all that....

Indicators optional - arrogance and belief that they are driving the most important car on the road comes as standard.... ;)
bristolbaron 10 Posted June 21, 2006 i made a joke in work the other day about indicators being in the BMW accessories brochure. it went down like a french kiss at a family reunion.
gaz the geezer 0 Posted June 21, 2006 strangely enuff my indicators went t*ts up on my sprinter today, it was a bit of a mare trying to drive in an `obvious` way so`s to avoid someone ploughing into me ....... it`s gonna cost me £72 for a replacement control cluster and relay ...... :( .... but i hated not being able to indicate and hoped that no one thought i was just an ignoramis ..... i hate bad driving :x
wilkes 0 Posted June 21, 2006 gets on my tits too ,seems to be all to common on the motorway too not bothering when changing lanes
Jstar 0 Posted June 21, 2006 I was stuck behind an old granny tonight when I was trying to get home. It was a narrow part of an A road. She was blocking the whole half of our lane with some sort of angled manouver, with the rear of her car nearest to the centeral line. To top it off she was indicating left to turn right - and guess what? She was driving a BMW!!!
Mr Sands 0 Posted June 21, 2006 gets on my tits too ,seems to be all to common on the motorway too not bothering when changing lanes Glad that pisses off someone else too. I tend to flash people who do that and then cut me up.

I tend to flash people who do that and then cut me up. Yeah that pisses me off as well, though not as much as the rover driver who was literally millimetres from hitting me at 70mph today  He was infront of me on the sliproad and when we got on the motorway I overtook him, but the dopey **** didn't notice and decided to pull out to overtake the truck infront of him just as I was in his blind spot, at this point I was checking over my shoulder to make sure it was safe to move into the outside lane, looked back to find his rover about to plough into me and had to swerve bloody hard to avoid him :bad-words: :bad-words: Luckily for me nobody was in the outside lane, but people like him make me understand how people get serious road rage, had to check the passenger side of the car to make sure it hadn't been hit he was that damn close! I was pleased with how stable the car is when making emergency maneuvers at high speed though.

Storm Monkey 0 Posted June 22, 2006 I Indicate when driving the A6, or my dads 5 series. Confuses the hell out of other drivers. They have never seen an indicating BMW before, so just dont believe them.
chrishill 0 Posted June 22, 2006 turning the steering wheel +/- more than 30 degrees without using the indicators should activate some sort of dash mounted, spring loaded, boxing glove and voice recording informing the driver they are, in fact, and ignorant c**t. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 22, 2006 Well the more people drive like dicks, the tougher the nanny state will become. The freedom to use indicators that we enjoy now, will be taken away and be replaced with automatic ones.....and onboard cameras....and onboard Satellite transceivers....monitoring you're every move. I'm sorry but if people can't be civil to eachother and behave, they're f'ckin asking to be nannied. People can't be trusted to drive at sensible speeds - Cameras People try and circumvent or destroy them - Average speed cameras mounted high up If that doesn't work they'll do what they do in France, toll you at each motorway section and time you. The Government will always hit your wallet as it's the only method people seem to take notice of. They are also always one step ahead and it's the minority knob cheesers that ruins things for everyone else.
Jim 2 Posted June 22, 2006 Since buying the Corrado i've mellowed out my driving style a bit and I can't believe how aggressively other people drive. Actually trying to drive within the speed limit is incredibly tough.. in the space of about 3 weeks i've already been tailgated more times than I can recall! Driving home with Supercharged the other night we were tailgated by some moron in a black cab down a 50MPH road towards Leam.. I sped up to 60MPH, he continued to stick to me - I finally had enough and decided to stick my foot down round a roundabout and leave him to it but by the time I got to my turn off he'd tried to catch up and absolutely belted past me.. Some people are just idiots I think.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 22, 2006 Yep, seems to be a lot of aggression about these days. Last night, some toss stain was desperate to prove to me that his 1.6 Polo was faster than my VR6 on the motorway, he thought he'd overtake me before taking his exit. Problem was, I was crusing at a tonne and he was clearly struggling to get past, so I slowed a little and then he almost side swiped me to take his exit. If I was 10 years younger I'd have followed him and scalped him......but like you, I've mellowed :-)
inky 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Got to admit, its strange on the BMW side of things as we've got an E34 535 as the family cruiser and indicating plus any form of curtousy totally bemuses people...(because I'm a dub driver by heart!) I despise people not indicating properly and my first piece of anti-beemer road rage the other day was when some knob in an Escort completly cuts me up on a roundbout (no indicators, as usual),to avoid hitting him I just hit the horn in time to aviod certain collision  and apparently I'm a W**ker!- He was obviously such an idiot I didn't even respond and just left him to rust in my dust. If I'd been in the Golf or Rado it would'nt have happened, I'm pretty sure.
StuartFZR400 0 Posted June 23, 2006 JMC - its an absolut nark and added with incorrect lane discpline on roundabouts makes it even worse. On the motorbike it is in your own interest to predict these poor manouvers and hang back; its best to take this into the car too. However I can empathise because my drive into Birmingham can be very busy, and if you choose to slow or wait, yet another car will carv you up, so its almost pointless and you have to be brave or stubborn*. Its a loose loose situation; there is a roundabout I take where traffic is very quick (say 40-50) to come round and indicators are a joke - gladly people behind are patient; yet on some T-junctions people behind beep if you wait safely (just cos some car has its indicator on - doesnt mean it is turning in). * so in the brave situation on the roundabout, at very low speeds (5) I use my horn if people mindlessly drift over into my lane whilst Im alongside. Its happened twice this week because its common practice at one roundabout; in both instances the women proceeded to have a hippy-fit and scream at me - when all I was doing was properly using the horn to make my presense known before they side-swipe me and my lovely C. Why do people see the horn as a red rag ???????? :?: In that instance I'd expect a little wave of appology not an arguement. Hang back where you can, as I imagine prooving fault would be tricky. gets on my tits too ,seems to be all to common on the motorway too not bothering when changing lanes I've got useed to this one too. What most anoying is when you're batting down the outside lane and 400yds ahead Miss-Middle-Lane decides to pop out doing about 55; forcing me to use the brakes. If she read the highwaycode she'd know she shouldnt do that. "The highway.. wot?" People can't be trusted to drive at sensible speeds - . I foresee the satelite trackers being not too far off; 24/7 speed check --- time to sell the bike & rado, lol.
dragon 0 Posted June 23, 2006 My misses goes balistic when people dont indicate drives her mad and me too, as has been said they think your a mind reader. You should get points on your license for that as well as speeding, its just as danerous. Just pure laziness. :x  :2gunfire:
Petros 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Why do people see the horn as a red rag ???????? :?: In that instance I'd expect a little wave of appology not an arguement. Probably cos most muppets on the road don't understand how your horn is meant to be used, and view it simply as a way to chastise people after they've been wronged rather than using it as a pre-emprive warning. You ever been a police driver or IAM/RoSPA member? From your comments you seem much too well mannered a driver to have only ever been DSA trained :-)
inky 0 Posted June 23, 2006 I've got to agree about mellowing my driving - I'm more bothered about looking after my car (and my family or myself too obviously!) than resorting to pushy driving to prove a point - I'll quite often overly generous and let people through gaps etc even if I've got right of way, especially if someones driving aggresively - I'm quite happy to keep my Golf/Raddo/BMW in one piece than having to go through insurance(thats if they've got any!, police etc , just because some muppet wants to play chicken down a narrow road or to get into a lane first - suppose like most people on here we've invested time and effort our cars I almost believe cos cars are so disposable these days the majority of drivers don't really give a toss...as long as they're egos untouched!
