Evo did a "Buying guide" on Corrados years ago.....but it was a yellow G60 they featured. Guess they want to revisit it with a VR6 this time. Awareness of the MK5 GTI's all round excellence and rumours of the Corrado/Scirocco's return is on the increase, so I suppose they want to take another look at decent VWs of old..... the recently got together all the 911s they could from 1960s to present....was an excellent feature.

you not getting confused with Used Car Buyer.........they used a nugget yellow 16v then a blackberry VR6...........the only one i recall EVO doing was a buying guide comparing the C VR6 with 944Turbo,Clio Williams and TVR S2.......as a £10k budget buying guide.........it was a silver C VR they used

It is going to be something like Best FWD cars of all time. I have been offered the chance to take my Storm, I will need to get my (very Scabby) Solitudes back on and some standard discs/Pads. I guess it won't hurt the cars resale value :-) and is an opportunity not to be missed.

 

Just need to get the time off work arranged...

Storm Warning, how fresh is your suspension? Is it original on that mileage??

 

Hopefully whatever car goes forward has a relatively fresh setup.

I wonder what the VR will be up against?

 

I'd guess at:

 

Integra Type R

306 GTI-6/Rallye or maybe a 205 GTI

 

I wonder if they'll include any older stuff like the Alfasud or the original Mini Cooper!

Bedford on Wednesday and then possibly on to Wales for another two days. I don't know if spectators are allowed, though I guess I could take someone? I will enquire.

Get a Neuspeed rear ARB on there to give the C a better chance on the track :-)

The testing on Wednesday will be done on local roads, if it fairs well it will go to Wales for two days. The VW specialist I use say its a good/reasonable example of a VR, not sloppy at all. Still, not sure how is will fair against a Clio 172 cup. I can take a passenger for the day... you interested boyleonthebum? as your so local. It will be lots of hanging about at bedford with lots of nice cars.

Sadly they do only ever focus on the VR's in all these buying guides.

 

I know it was the one to own when all was said and done, but each of the models really did have their own redeeming features and its always a shame when they're just ignored!

Hmmm, good luck. you will need it through the twistys but the longer sections should redeem you.
