VR enthusiast 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Hi folks, After a long search managed to find myself a mint VR6, can't wait to collect on Saturday. Has anyone had good experiences with insuarance companies and can therefore recomend? Unfortunately the car will have to parked on the street so i'm bit worried it might get half-inched, is it worth getting an agreed valuation policy? E.g. has anyone had any nightmares with insurers only paying out a fraction of the vehicles true value? Any tips would be greatefully recevied. Cheers all
davedub 0 Posted September 4, 2006 hi mate imo all insurance companies will screw you over if you have to make a claim, thats why they're in the business afterall i always look at insurance as dead money, you never get back what you put in, so my advice is get the cheapest quote you can and spend the rest on securing your car. double-6s 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I agree. And it's so rare that you have to make a claim (on average) that I think cheapness is more important than service. Lancaster are fookin cheap.
Walesy 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Lancaster are fookin cheap. And they also offer an agreed valuation aswell, I think you have to pay a few quid extra for it but it's worth it IMO Quite alot of companies offer it, and if your Rado is worth alot more than the average 10-15 year old car then it's a good idea I reckon
martinb 0 Posted September 5, 2006 I would definatly recommend getting an agreed value, the whole point of them is to give you the "enthusiast" value of your car as opposed to the "book" price. If you compare what these cars go for in the scene to the book value there is a huge difference and the whole point of agreed values is to give you what they are really worth to the right person. The way our agreed values are done is that we have a department at work whose whole job is to get all the mags, go to the shows, look at the cars for sale on specialist forums/mags/dealers etc and then compare them to the pictures/spec/condition of the car we are insureing and see is the stated value is right even if this is more than the book price. If agreed the they issue a valuation certicate garanteeing to pay you that amount in the event of a claim. Imo certainly worth a couple of extra ££ but at the end of the day, its up to you.... :)
VR enthusiast 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Cheers for the tips, Decided that as i've bought a low mileage car in exceptional condition its worth getting an agreed valuation - to hopefully prevent a nasty experience in the event of a claim. After a bit of ringing around managed to get my 10 years no claims mirrored by HIC, and an agreed valuation all for £25 less than the best nearest quote -so the best of both worlds it seems (no I'm not on commission!)! Elephant, Adrian Flus, Admiral all quoting around £550 to £600 with 10 years no claims!! must be where I live I guess! of maybe it could be the SP30s?
