Driving with no front bumper?

Recommended Posts

Guys, would i be ok driving around for a while without the front bumper?

Obviously ill have to secure/tie wrap the indicaters up somewhere....but any legal issues?

Should be ok as long as theres no sharp edges i think?

Neil.

your insurance company might take a dim view if you were involved in an accident, I don't think they'd agree to it being a 'modification' either if you told them about it.

I would imagine that the car would fail an MOT with no front bumper, due to the extra risk of injury to pedestrians in an accident (can't see how you can hide all the sharp edges!), and therefore I would say no..

Unless you're just talking about driving it 500 yards to the bodyshop ...

I'd be more worried about the missing front wheels Bally, those disks would just dig into the tarmac :)

:lol:only pic I could find with no front bumper

wouldnt have thought it'd be too expensive to get yourself a damaged but usable front bumper from somewhere while yours is being worked on... unless you need the bumper off for access while doing something else!

Cheers guys...it needs to be off while i modify it for something.I use the car for work every day knocking about around town.

In fact i do have an early red bumper, but the indicaters and fogs wouldn't fit up would they?

Cheers,Neil.

Bentley states that the front bumber forms part of the front subframe and hence the C should never be driven without one.

Was going to say that. I dread to thing the damage you'd cause if you hit a pedestrian, as was stated before.. sharp edges. OUCH!

You'll definitely need to keep the bumper iron brackets at the very least. The front subframe bolts into the bumper brackets.
