thegolfman 0 Posted April 14, 2015 Bringing another thread back from the dead - Its strange to think the C is similar in weight to the so called 'lardy' mk4 golf.
dragon green 5 Posted April 14, 2015 Weighed my C the other week, 1136kg
Jim 2 Posted April 14, 2015 Wow - that is light! Presumably the 1.8T engine is quite a lot lighter than the old VR6 motor?
borachris 0 Posted April 14, 2015 Wow - that is light! Presumably the 1.8T engine is quite a lot lighter than the old VR6 motor? Maybe he's lost a few kg's to rust over the years lol
dragon green 5 Posted April 14, 2015 Maybe he's lost a few kg's to rust over the years lol Wash your mouth out ! lol Alloy brakes,KW coil overs are so much lighter then OE,I don't know the weight of a 1.8T,
Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted April 14, 2015 I think it's about 150kg with all of the intercooler gubbins thrown in and I think the VR6 lump is somewhere around 175kg.
Chuggs1 10 Posted April 14, 2015 Have just checked for the weight of a VR6 on about 10 different sites and they all have it at slightly different for kerb weight - the lowest was 1210kgs and the highest at nearly 1280kgs but none any heavier than that. delfinis38 1 Posted April 14, 2015 Some quote with half a tank of fuel and the driver? Does a full iPod count... Or do they weigh with half iPod capacity.
HummuH 10 Posted April 14, 2015 Weighed my C the other week, 1136kg Interesting. Our front weights are quite similar but I have about 180kg less over the rear axle. Shows that unless you take it back to bare shell there's very little weight to come off the front of the car unless you run a 0.5l engine.
dragon green 5 Posted April 14, 2015 I have seriously soundproofed the rear of the car,it even has two boot carpets ! I'm getting too old for a droning exhaust ! 😀
science 0 Posted April 14, 2015 Maybe he's lost a few kg's to rust over the years lol Rust is lighter than carbon fibre.
