biggerbigben 0 Posted May 13, 2007 Update - Have been cracking on with the haldex conversion when I get time. I've now got the new clutch and flywheel fitted and 02M gearbox + trans bolted up. I've been messing around with the turbo to make it fit as the 02m transfer box is a bit bigger than the syncro version. As you can see I've moved the wastegate actuator up by about 25mm, cut and welded the actuator rod to clear the trans. New pics and fittings have had to be ordered due to clearance issues. The water feed to block will be fixed out the way before you ask. I've got to mod the downpipe as it hits very slightly. Need to fab a transfer to block mount and modify the front engine mount then the engine is ready to go back in for good. Rear end is basically finished, just waiting on driveshafts and haldex controller. I was aiming for Stonor on the 1st of June but I doubt the shafts will be made by then :( Ben

LowG 0 Posted May 13, 2007 Thats hot Ben, nice new shiny bits. The wastegate arm should be fine, looks strong enough. Looking at that makes me go down and work in the garage all night  . Im looking forward to see how all the special "bits" will perform together mate, im sure you will love it. Im in line for rides and hard launches once you run your clutch in 8) Keep up the good work and thanks  !
biggerbigben 0 Posted May 14, 2007 IHIG60, Yeah sorry chap, haven't really had a whole heap of time to play with cars recently but should be able to get some progress made in the coming weeks. I wouldn't be able to tell you what the ??? means as I change my mind all the time. Think the new engine improvments will very much depend on avalible funds at the time I decide to go ahead. LowG, Thanks chap! Very much looking forward to driving it with the improved AWD system and the other toys I've got!
alackofspeed2 0 Posted May 14, 2007 Good to see this coming on Ben. Hopefully once it's done, the weather will come good and you'll get some decent use out of the car. Do Jabba make a slightly different kit to work with MK4 derived 4x4 1.8t cars, or do they also cut and shut things very slightly to make things work? blue95 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Great to see some updates. Looks alot more beefy than the syncro stuff! needs to be for the BHP though I guess! Cool work 8)

They most likely do it in a much better and prettier way than me, but hey ho.. Mine should work fine.

junkie 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Have you seen marks (think thats his name) Haldex 500bhp 20v. Mahoosive turbo, or so it looks anyway in his bay. Garrett GT30 again i believe. Dont know how much modding of things it may have needed to fit if any.

biggerbigben 0 Posted May 20, 2007 Ok another update. This weekend I managed to get all the turbo pluming issues sorted (I hope!), made the front engine mount and re-made up the rear axle (new brake pipes etc) ready for when the haldex controller and custom driveshafts arrive. Quick pic of front engine mount. Now I need to get the prop sorted and I'm pretty much done bar a few little jobs.
Pau1 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Keep up the good work Ben. I was going to ask you... Can you not use the Rallye fuel tank with the Haldex diff? Also did you fit Marcels brackets yourself or did you send your axle away? TIA 8)

Made that front engine mount myself. I moved the engine forward by 10mm also as the rear engine CV hits the vibratechnic mount. It was a shell last saturday, it'll be at Stonor if it kills me this Sunday! Ben

Only prob though is its not gonna be quite the same engine now due to a few things, the word bang is involved, 2L comes into it and er more power probably. Mark is a man really down to earth and so modest shame things went wrong but it will be back quite soon.
