DarrenVR6 0 Posted July 5, 2016 I'm just trying to confirm if it's a genuine bid. The guys profile appears to be legit, but we'll wait and see. It had a high reserve price, so that if it did't sell we'd be able to cherry pick the best potential owner from the bids received. Would really like it to go to an enthusiast if it has to go somewhere.
delfinis38 1 Posted July 5, 2016 Check out the mot history, defo needs brakes and suspension looking at...looks a nice car but i can not see how the price has jumped up that much...?? Just been reading through the advisory list. Interesting read.
EJ Taylor 22 Posted July 5, 2016 I can vouch it had a reserve, as i bid 2200 and it said reserve not met. Fingers crossed its all kosher and you get a good sum for it! Clearly showing that people are willing to pay good money for them now, these last few years have seen the prices increase substantially. IM ALL FOR IT!:dance::dance::dance: (all be it one with no interior and a roll cage probably wont fetch much hahaha)
DarrenVR6 0 Posted July 5, 2016 Well there has been another high bid - and I have been in communication with this bidder, so I know he's genuine. Didn't expect it to get this high quite so quickly - and yes the reserve has now been met, so the highest bidder will own the car. Hopefully if they are willing to spend that kind of money they are going to be a genuine enthusiast. EJ - if I find out they've ripped out the interior and installed a roll cage I'll go mental !!! delfinis38 1 Posted July 6, 2016 Have the mot advisory's been sorted ?
DarrenVR6 0 Posted July 6, 2016 Have the mot advisory's been sorted ? Hi delfinis - I see you keep trying to raise this point. As mentioned, every year the car goes to VW for a service. They continuously advise that while the MOT station has to record the 'advisories' they are now where near bad enough to warrant replacement. If they were, they would have been sorted. Cheers Darren

Cheers Darren just interested, as I know someone that is interested... and want to know what were getting ourselves into. A 40K car can be full of problems... believe me I have one and keep spending.. I'm not trying to knock your sale... just trying to obtain the full facts before a potential purchase... I know your not hiding anything. Edited July 6, 2016 by delfinis38

g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted July 6, 2016 I guess this will be another one that we can expect to go for a reasonable amount, and then end up being sold by a 'specialist' at twice the price in a few weeks time. probably! just like the derby trade cars guy who brought my gf's storm last year saying he would never sell it, always wanted a storm, would give my gf first refusal if he ever sold it blah blah lying through his f***ing teeth, moaning about the chains not been done.....then 6 months later is is for sale, £5 grand more than he brought it for & guess what....no mention of the chains been done at all!!! i do wish i had told her not to let him have it :(
C5 OEM 0 Posted July 6, 2016 Looks like a dealer bidding blind as i can not imagine a genuine buyer bidding blind, who would bid 10k on a corrado unseen.
Dox 23 Posted July 7, 2016 Looks like a dealer bidding blind as i can not imagine a genuine buyer bidding blind, who would bid 10k on a corrado unseen. If its not as described you just walk away, if the reserve is not met the highest bidder doesn't even get to see the car. As for the advisories you can't expect a 20 year old, all original car that's been used in the UK with road salt etc not to have some corrosion on its brake pipes or dampers that aren't leaking a little oil. Unfortunately the UK buyers see low mileage as the be all and end all of car buying..... If a trader buys it and inflates the price its because he can, he offers a warranty, part exchange and finance all of which are seen as advantages / a convenience to some buyers, if you've bought a used car off a forecourt you've been "ripped off" in exactly the same way. For years members here have wanted prices to rise and it looks like that beginning to happen (the asking prices at least), any trader of a used item will always look for increased interest of any item that they may sell on to earn a living just like you and I. Its a desirable car to many, GLWS

Its a desirable car to many, GLWS Definitely, Awesome to see so many going for so much, i remember that C5 OEM coming up just after i got mine, was gutted i missed out, and he was struggling to sell it around the 3k mark, now ones in that condition seem to be closing in on 10K, absolutely awesome news for us owners! although im surprised how many situations ive seen of people responding negatively to people charging higher amount much. In some situations fair enough. But if people want to demand higher and drive prices up on good quality models i say im all for it!!!
Dox 23 Posted July 8, 2016 Going back to the advisories, my golf estate has been parked and sorned for 16 months, it was thrown in for an mot in april and failed on a few points, advisories on 5 or 6 items including H and R suspension being rusty at 24 months old and 5k miles. Today after fixing the fail points I took the car to another testing station and left the fail cert of the tester to read, the car passed with no advisories, the tester remarked on the previous advisories and laughed.... delfinis38 1 Posted July 9, 2016 Anyone explain why... Thought this eBay add was at 10,100. With 22 bids... It now has 10k with 16 bids ?
seanl82 23 Posted July 9, 2016 High bidder bid 6 times, and has now retracted his bids I'd imagine.
delfinis38 1 Posted July 9, 2016 Cheers Sean.. Never needed to retract a bid before.. So never knew you could do it... They obviously spotted the halfords exhaust :)
seanl82 23 Posted July 9, 2016 It's not obvious in how to do it, and you have to give "valid reason", but it's just a menu so easy to get around unfortunately. Still a tidy sum though!
Dox 23 Posted July 9, 2016 They do it to find out the reserve.......
DarrenVR6 0 Posted July 10, 2016 I messaged the guy, and after doing some research discovered he was a dealer. You can also restrict people from bidding !
