bananawhip 0 Posted September 15, 2010 I'm debating selling mine Mint 53 plate VW Bora 4motion with main dealer R32 engine conversion, 79k on the clock Fully loaded with every extra possible, Plus a few other bits like Heated leather Recaros, R32 steering wheel, 343mm Alcon brakes, 18" RS4 reps, Eibach suspension, JVC tv headunit, LCR splitter etc Powerwise it's sitting at about 270bhp, its got a Carbon Fibre Simota induction kit, gasflowed TB, and AMD map to aid this. It is a perfect conversion, already a rare car made even rarer, handles better then a Golf R32 due to the stiffer chassis (Read Evo's long term R32 review where they comment the R32 would be better as a Bora) Its a bit lighter believe it or not, more capable and cheaper then an R32 Golf, just a very cool sleeper that goes like a stabbed rat. I love it but after 10 years of VW ownership I'm tempted to try something else, 50/50 on selling it. PM me if you're at all interested.

Never getting rid of it though ;-)
big ben 10 Posted September 15, 2010 i would build a VRT without question
CazzaVR 0 Posted September 15, 2010 On the Jap front, I would consider a 350Z when it's time to move on. Or a Jag XK.
iceviolet 0 Posted September 15, 2010 i would build a VRT without question Tempted! very tempted to just through money at the corrado! But the GF would NOT be happy at all! I need to do the turbo VR on the quiet! its a slow process! :) Good suggestions guys, giving me plenty to look at!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 15, 2010 Z3M is a good choice but I'd be wary of their main fault - the boot floor being ripped out by the torque. Not heard of that one. They don't make a huge amount of torque to be fair (less than the M3), so it must be a design flaw? There must be a fix for it surely? I know it has ropey old E36/E30 underpinnings, but I've always loved the Z coupe in Estoril blue, or black 8)
Andy665 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Kev - the boot floor being ripped up is by no means arare occurence on the Z3M apparently. The coupe was a "skunks" works creation and never received the full engineering process. They were fine when new but now the welds are aging the floors are being torn on a regualr basis - I know at least 4 owners who have had to replace the floor. The Gaydon BMW show a few weeks ago saw the biggest ever gathering of the breadvans - quite a sight to behold
Leonard 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Pretty good investment! And a damn fine drive with 'sensible' running costs.
RedRado 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Wow, that's a difficult one - faced with the same dilemma for a daily I plumped for a BMW 130i M Sport :luvlove: - 265 bhp, 60 in 6.1 and a limited 155mph after weighing up A3 3.2Q, R32 and Alfa GT 3.2. I too considered a Maserati 3200GT but was scared off by reports of unreliability and astronomic costs :cuckoo: , though I was tempted by a 968 but children are getting too big. Good luck with the decision process.
iceviolet 0 Posted September 16, 2010 not keen on the saab, any thoughts on the masersti 3200??? 370bhp and i just love the back of them! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2025331.htm I LOVE it, i've been planning to get one for a few years now, but just cant afford the running costs. The 4200 is a stronger car, the 3200 can be a bit fragile, but it doenst have those boomerang lights. Plus its about 8k more. According to the forum, you need about 3k/year to run it. What does that cover? No idea, perhaps just fuel! A few of teh issues are chains (!!!), clutch and front axle bushes. Cant remember anything else, but i'll have a search again and let you know. 3k A YEAR?? if that includes fuel then it aint so bad!lol! i can imagine parts been slightly more expensive and obviosuly there aint that many specialist maserati garages about and the ones that there are will cost a fortune probably. I do really like them though and im sure i would be able to carry out most of the work/maintenance myself and save a load of cash in the process. Whatever i get realistically it isnt going to do a lot of mileage, i am a service engineer so have my own van and the corrado which hardly gets used as it is. Wendy 0 Posted September 16, 2010 Z3M - is a hairdressers car and looks awful. Just my opinion. Out of your price range but the Z4M is much better. 350Z I would serioulsy consider - but awful in the wet - apparently. S2000 , very good drivers car. Drove an Exige on a Track Day at the weekend - although the day overal was good, I would never consider an Exige as ownership. It rattled, banged and crashed around terribly. Of course I knew beforehand the refinements were lacking, but overal I think it was much worse than I was expecting and considering i had been looking forward to the drive in it so much - dissappointing. It also needs to be driven high up the rev's to make it work (pull) properly, 5th gear a massive dissappointment, having to drop to 4th to get some serious pull out of it - infact the gearing just seemed wrong. Tiff Neddel was there taking folk out in an M5 for a mere £125 per lap. No, I didn't part with my hard earned cash for one lap with Tiff, but was overtaken by him on Track to watch him then completly miss his turning point into the chichane. !!! iceviolet 0 Posted September 27, 2010 The idea of the maserati has gone out of the window, had a drive to Aberdeen and back last week and saw 2 different 3200's on the back of an AA recovery truck!! Not a good sign!!!! I have been looking at 911 carreras, the 996 variety. Would probably need to up my budget to around 15k to get a decent one though, would probably mean selling the corrado??? This looks like a nice example http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1949000.htm Do you guys reckon that these will not depreciate too badly?? They were around 60k when they were new, so you are getting a fair bit of car for the cash!
