Recaros £1200 is this for real?

Recommended Posts

This is must be a case of shill bidding. The auction was won and literally immediately another seller puts up an identical set for sale at almost the winning bid £1995 buy it now. The new seller is not the same username S either the first seller or the winner.

I think the first sale was only there to push up the price in readiness for the buy it now sale.

cant blame you for trying but i think its pretty optimistic to believe that the bids on the other auction were anything like genuine...

Bring it on indeed, although the cars themselves are worthless it seems. It's only bits of Corrado that are worth a fortune.

I'm burying mine in the garden now. In 100 years time I'll exhume Tony Robinson so that he and his team can find it. Should fetch a few mill on ebay..... but only in bits mind. As a complete car, worthless. Should get £10K for the "Karmann" badge on the centre console at least.....

wont be long before our cars are worth a fortune though, what you think? 10/20 years?

10 years or so once theres a very small amount of rado's left?

Even then, will there really be any demand for them?

In 10 years time our problems will be even worse than they are now:-

We really might actually run out of oil.....

There will be absolutely no panels, trims or any other vital parts due to VW obsoleting them all....

Emissions wil be so strict that dogs and cattle will need particulate traps on their arses, let alone cars....

Etc....

Nah, I reckon what few decent Corrados remain will be worth some good money :D

People will get to a point where they miss the 'good old days' of V6s and V8s and start buying them up before it's too late....

Everyone seems to have gotten hope that their Corrado is now worth a fortune :) But I think that's unlikely. Firstly this is only one sale and it's quite possible it was either not a real bidder or, if it was, then it could be a one off. However, let's assume for now that this has set a new market level for the seats. That still doesn't mean that cars are worth that amount. It could be that Recaro's suddenly are. But that's because they are quite unique and even mk2 Recaro's won't properly fit.

To take this even further, mk2 Recaro's are not uncommon. In fact there is a company in germany that specialises in selling completely retrimmed heated leather recaro's just like this. So in effect the buyer has just paid around £2k for the subframes which is the only really rare part of these seats

The last 'real' bid was around the £500 mark. The rest were the seller, notice how all bids post £500 were from buyers with very low or no feedback........ i.e. brand new accounts created by the seller in order to bid on his own items! A not too uncommon ebay trick!

Doesn't that backfire on people sometimes? Or do they just withdraw the sale if no one legitimately bids on it?

Yeh heard on the radio not so long ago about one guy having his account cancelled, can't remember if he was fined or not though, I imagine he was...
