Wullie 1 Posted December 13, 2011 Ah man, you cnat break it after owning it for 14 years. A front wing and a slam panel an indicator and it will be good as new. I'll wait till I calm down a bit and make a more sensible decision then. Heading out now to take part in a Poet Laureate competition with a prize of £150. That would cover a few bits. Critical_Mass 10 Posted December 14, 2011 Dont want to steal anything away from TimDoc, but found this on another thread Im not sure if the one TimDoc has is white - just thought it would be of use being the correct colour. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-CORRADO-FRONT-BUMPER-SPOILER-LATE-STYLE-G60-VR6-16V-8V-/270869408046?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f1113292e

Wullie 1 Posted December 16, 2011 Didn't win the poetry thing so no money but got a bottle of "The Singleton" 12 year old single malt as runner up. Tonight I did an invited evening and got free beer all night. As I sit with a large single(ton) malt I have decided I cannot let the Corrado fade away as spare parts. Question:- As early parts are becoming scarcer than hens teeth is it worth switching the front bumper etc to late model as it seems parts are more available. Wullie It's a good plan B if you really can't find early parts but personally I'd try to get the originals. I hate to admit it as a VR6 owner but I personally prefer the slightly sleeker bonnet of the early models :)

Wullie Yes but it is well worth sourcing the early bits as they are still available with some digging.
Critical_Mass 10 Posted December 16, 2011 Good decision Wullie. If he changes the front bumper to a late one, he'll have to change the frotn wings and bonnet and slam panel also will he not (obviously slam panel and drivers wing need replacign anyway)
Yandards 0 Posted December 16, 2011 Good decision Wullie. If he changes the front bumper to a late one, he'll have to change the frotn wings and bonnet and slam panel also will he not (obviously slam panel and drivers wing need replacign anyway) No it will all fit without swapping anything else out. The only difference between early and late wings is that late wings are slightly more flared (read deep) at the arch - it was part of the change to accomdate wide track suspension used on the VR. NickVR6s old car used to have a mismatched set of wings but it was very difficult to spot. As for bonnets, headlights, bumpers, indicators etc that are all interchangeable between early and late as some of them left the factory with like that. Critical_Mass 10 Posted December 16, 2011 ah fair enough then. When i had a smash in my old G60 i unwittingly fitted a mismatch of early and late wings/bonnet/bumper/slam panel and hand panel gap issues - was maybe my fitting though, also the pins on the bonnet didnt quite line up with the holes in the slam panel. Wullie 1 Posted January 14, 2012 Set off lasst night just after 7 pm. Drove to Somerset for wing from trevyt on here for old style front wing and wing mounting brackets. Very quick chat then over to West London, thank God for sat navs, to meet with dragonfir3. Collected front bumper,, bumper iron indicators and as a bonus tinted rear lights. Arrived home tonight at 10 pm. 1182 miles in 27 hours. Somewhat tired so shower, malt whiskey and bed. Thanks also to my mate George for coming along for the ride and supplying his elderly Peugot camper van which didn't miss a beat. Just wished it was a bit faster. Wullie 1 Posted February 13, 2012 So finally got round to repairing the damage today now that temperatures have risen slightly and came across a few little surprises. I got rear ended and pushed into the car in front damaging both ends in the last hour of the last millennium. Car was repaired at the Insurers preferred bodyshop. Today I found the splitter was held on by four self tappers, one bumper bolt was loose and the arch liners were held on by a wild and varied assortment of slotted, phillips and hex bolts. The spraying of WD40 for the past few weeks made most of the disassembly straightforward. Reassembly has gone pretty well too with only the lights, liners and some odds and ends still to go on. All in all a pretty good day. Only had to stop twice to get feeling back in my hands and feet due to the Renauds though the latest treatment they are talking about is believe it or not - Viagra! Now that could get interesting.
robrado974 1 Posted February 13, 2012 Glad to see the c getting back together. Typical ins company work ,just use what you have to hand n it will be alright !. You always need to put the finishing touches and niggley things right yourself .
corrado wannabe 13 Posted February 14, 2012 Glad to see your getting it sorted. That Viagra might make it interesting for getting underneath the car! Better push on and get it finished before that starts.
Wullie 1 Posted February 14, 2012 Got it all stuck back together today, quite pleased as I managed to get everything to line up well. Needs a good clean then get into the paintwork. I'm getting too old for rolling about under cars in the driveway. Going to the quacks this week so may enquire about the Viagra treatment. It's got to be better than the nifedipine I got previously. Endless headaches and my ankles swelled up to about twice their size.

Wullie 1 Posted February 14, 2012 id be raging..... Only took it for three days then went back to thermal underwear and red wine, assuming it was the nifedepine your raging about. He was only trying to help and it didn't work. It only really affects me when it's cold though if I hold a cold pint too long my fingers turn white and go numb.
