It's gone mate! All thats left is a grand that the missus put in her isa to go toward a holiday next year, and a bit of extra for our holiday next month. The rest has honestly been spent mate! If you ever want to know how to blow 12.5k in a week on stuff we don't really need, ask my missus! Lol

Strip down finally complete. A couple of nightmare parts to remove which are either already on the way (rear number plate tub), and some I need to put a wanted ad up for (spoiler arm guide tubes). Other than those, all went well. I'm leaving the bonnet, slam panel, and door handles on for them to remove, all very easy to get off and left on to aid transportation. Fitted the BMC CDA the other day, and I'll change a split cv boot and do the 288mm front brake upgrade next week. Might well do the abs pump too if I get time. My heritage order arrived finally yesterday almost a month after being ordered, no overly impressed with the service but on the plus side, I now have brand new genuine scraper seals and door aperture seals. :smug:

I'm away for 10 days whilst it's in paint but after that I'll be feeding and sealing the leather again, and cleaning the life out of everything I've taken off and applying carpro dlux to all plastics in preparation for it going back on. I also have cquartz to apply to the paintwork when it's back, which should help keep it nice and shiny for a couple of years at least. Anyway, enough waffle, some pics!

Offending rear boot with an absolute ton of tigerseal all over, necessitating some rather heavy handed removal techniques, which unfortunately culminated in a very cracked old tub..........

Rusty inner arch which is being cut out with new metal welded in.

And finally, anyone have a part number, or know of a suitable replacement for these friction pads?

Getting excited yet a bit apprehensive about it now! I've written a list of items I want them to sort which wasn't originally discussed, but hopefully won't bump the price up too much!

Cheers all!

Really looking forward to seeing this painted Sean . Glad you got your window scrapers , I had to wait about the same amount of time for my bits. I suppose when they have to get the parts from Germany ,they order every couple of weeks , so a bulk load can come over instead of just a couple of parts . This vr is going to be lovely when it's done mate . As Rog said when are you down ? Be nice for all of us to meet up , the paignton boys arel a good bunch .

Rob

Thanks chums! Not sure when I'm down next tbh. Either the end of August or some point in September I would have thought. I'll let you both know when I do, and I may even come down in the Corrado to show it off! Rob, heritage had them in for over a week. I phoned to chase it up on Monday, and they said it's all now in, but they only took payment for items which were in stock, so I had to pay the outstanding balance before they would be sent. That's fine regarding payment, but I was a little disappointed they didn't call or email me to say it was all back in etc etc.

Anyway, all here now so that's the end of it.

When is that show down your way, I forget what it's called but I remember we had all said we'd attend!

Now have a new daily. After plumes of black smoke on over run, serious difficulty starting when cold, and now both keys self destructing, the trusty swede had to go. The wife had decided, so we drove home today in this.

118d M Sport. Nice tidy car, a little lacking in options I think personally, but I got told off for trying to burst her bubble. It's not a bad car I suppose, I'd just have preferred a 3 Series..........

Thanks Daren. It actually says Diesel on the filler cap, so fingers crossed! I've had a quick look on babybimmer, but do you know a reputable bmw tuning specialist in Hampshire or surrounding areas? Definitely something I want to consider, although being post 2008 (I think was the cross over year) it's the 143 bhp version so it's not too sluggish tbh. Always nice to have a bit more for not a lot though! :Norty:

Just spent hours reading this thread, now feeling somewhere between excited and petrified! I realise that my list of work I would like to do may turn into a longer list including all the new stuff I'll have to do. I'll start taking pictures before I get the jobs done too, I can't see me doing a blog quite as detailed and interesting as this one though. Can't wait to see Sean's car finished, never mind mine!

Thank Rog, Rob.

Graham, do you have a gallery of your car? Mine was in a pretty poor state tbh, and in hindsight, I'd never go through this again! That said, it brings great pride knowing I've not had an endless supply of money so most things have been done on a budget, but I've tried to do them as well as possible. Don't get me wrong, there are days when I think all the little bits that need doing are driving me mad and the car is just a money pit bleeding me dry, but if I had a perfect car, I'd probably get bored!

Same with me Sean, I loved owning CRX's, always having a tinker but then I went and got a 53 plate Integra Type R (DC5), it was an awesome car but dare I say it, it was just too reliable, it never went wrong and tbh a bit soulless.

Hence why I'm now having a love hate affair with 'Stormy', I love it...lol

Well tomorrow is the big day! Not received my number plate tub from P3rks yet which was apparently posted two weeks ago, and no reply from Pm. If anyone knows him personally and has his number, could you pass it to me or give him a nudge please. I'm on holiday from Sunday for 10 days so won't have chance til after that if I don't find out now. Anyway, it's being picked up around 10am tomorrow, and I'll be following it down to finalise work I want done. Heres how she stands...........
