LWS Design - Carbon or GRP Tailgate.... Finally

Wouldn’t mind getting a tailgate....wonder if it’s worth doing a mini group buy? :)

 

I'd love a GRP tailgate if you approach him. Couldn't bring myself to paint cf...

Right started making some enquiries, firstly what pieces can be bought e.g. bonnet, wings, tailgate, roof etc.

 

Will report back when I have availability and prices.

 

As with most peoples car my tailgate has started to rust, and wings are not in great shape :(

Update...prices as below:

 

Tails 799

Bonnets 690

Roofs 600

 

Wings as yet we don't make but if we had an order for 5 sets or more we would look to make a mould.

 

Lead time at the moment is 3 weeks

 

They take a week and we have 2 weeks booked

 

If we come up with good numbers we could ask for a discount?

Glass Reinforced Plastic (fibreglass), I love the idea of reducing the weight of the car, but would struggle to put paint over carbonfibre (and DO want body-colour tailgate)

Some people paint the top and leave the underside pretty carbon, on dark cars it looks good but on cars like red it just looks a bit like you've put the wrong colour bonnet on.

 

If there's serious interest in a group buy on bonnet's I may be convinced, seen a few made already and look look really nice!
