White VR6 in Windy Yorkshire! :)

Recommended Posts

Glad she's running well Wayne, heres to a bit of happy motoring for you! :thumbleft:

Edit: Fingers crossed the gear oil replacement makes a good bit of difference.

Bit of advice, the syncro meshes are notoriously poor, so make sure your at, or very nearly at a complete stand still before engaging first.

Cheers Sean!

I was at stand still ...it seems like it need a good minute before a smooth gear 1???

I do NOT want to be back like 1st day when cant shift into gear - eeek! :(

At least no stalling at junction... ....yet!

As I said, sell the Prelude, and get a small house with a garage.

If you still can't, sell one of the boys! You know, your least favourite one...................................

yeee haarrr!

thats the puppy! i go the long way most time the sun is out & the roads are dry, 20 miles to my local corner shop i will have you know ;) pmsl

how were your oil & water temps m8?

handle can be sorted & hopefully the gearbox oil refresh will help the crunch - have you fitted the short shifter yet? i found that took away much of the sloppyness in gear stick feel & stopped my occassional 2nd to 2rd crunch when booting it

PS did you know there is a programmable intermittent wiper function? ;)

Oil / water temps fine?

Got to 50 oil then started to boot....once 70 oil then started to go near red line :)

Having 2nd thoughts about the short shift too.

Quite happy with the current setup (silky smooth usually).

Might sell me to someone who has already expressed an interest..

...i mean i can always get another from Daves16v :)

No

I didnt know aboug programming thd wipers - how?

Lol Sean

House prices in my part is ABOVE national average -

So even a small house without a garage cost a fortune! :(

Have considered the boys - no one could afford the asking price + 10% return annually :( ;)

Wayne I've just bought a set of wiper arm cover caps from Heritage pretty cheaply. The ones on the aqua were missing and mine are faded, so swapped them over.

Part number 1J0-955-205A. £1.71 each.

Unable to sellect first gear with your foot to the floor is due to clutch drag (the clutch is not fully clearing the flywheel), you could try bleeding it.

Sometimes if there is air around the seals or joints it can be purged by wedging the pedal down overnight

Easy fix, If you open the door, look at the end of it and above where the catch is, there is a bolt. Undo it, it's not too long and that will allow you to remove the handle. Pull the lock part of the handle away from the car. On the picture above, you can see the small bit of white plastic, that part of the handle needs to be slid under the metal at the forward edge of the hole in the door. Do the screw back up with a bit of thread lock if you have some and that's it. Job done. Hope it makes sense!

Do the gears crash with the pedal to the floor? If so you have trapped air or poor seals on the mastercylinder.

Why was the slave changed?

Hi Dox,

Is that all you need to do just wedge the clutch pedal down and levave it over night?

No need to open any bleed nipples or brake fluid cap?

No need to open anything, it only works if theres air trapped near worn seals - air will leak past where fluid wont.

It also splits the bubbles of air making them easier to bleed out. Don't blame me if it finishes off a worn master and you can't make it Sunday.

Oh

What can i do?

Clutch Slave Cylinder changed coz when my car broke down on day of buying ,

I couldnt get it into gear after heavy traffic.

RAC man said i should hold the clutch - but put it in neutral.

He also said clutch pedal sticking (stays low that i had to lift the pedal higher) -

He said change the clutch slave cylinder
