De-badging

Thinking of de-badging my car.

 

I just like the cleaner look and being different like the look of bemused people thinking "what car is that"?

 

 

Thinking replacing:

1. Front badged grill with a de-badged one

2. Remove rear " Corrado" + "VR6" badges

3. Unsure of what to replace the rear VW badge with ???

 

 

Comments / suggestions most welcome! :)

There are a few that have done this, and I think it looks good if done right. It will mean bodywork though as the Corrado and rear VW badge are fixed through the rear panel with little tabs.

 

The de-badged grill is £25 from venom or somewhere, and the VR6 badge will fall off of its own accord if you leave it (in my experience....)

Just that I saw a nice one with a long bit on top too?

Any idea s to:

1. I do like a nice shiny badge where the VR6 badge sits

- but not want the tell tale of VR6 badge

 

2. Do like the rear plastic beige VW badge - just different.

- but want to remove all traces of VW

It's actually me selling it, I bought it off another forum member a long while back but never fitted it. All grills are universal I believe...could be wrong. Not sure how exactly the eyebrow sits, sits on top of the lights maybe?

They sit on the lights but from what I can see need bonding to the surrounds to keep from flapping around

Where the long strips sits,

My car got the weather strip on the bonnet - where that strip would go.

 

U think either:

Have to remove weather strip

Or

Weather strip will nicely hold that strip in place?

I have an eyebrow too I think, unless I binned it. You can have it free if I do, although it has a few small holes where the previous owner bodged it by securing to the headlight surrounds with self tappers!

If you are going down the de badged route on the rear , make sure its really what you want . I only say this , as i did it and a few years later , i wanted to go back to oem . Lets just say it was expensive !!.

Is it really a lot of work ref rear badge?

 

I do like rear badge - might be the only badge (plus one on front grille) that s all i need.

But not quite sure what badge to put or will fit in rear (or how much work )...

The VR6 badge can be removed easily. It's just stick on. The Corrado script badge has pins that go through the panel, as does the rear VW badge which is recessed as well, so removing that will leave a big round hole about 5mm deep.

I was hoping the CORRADO badge was a stuck on too :(

 

I think maybe the best option is:

- when spot rusting removing/respray get bodyshop to fill-in the CORRADO holes

3. Retain the rear VW badge

That would be what I'd do if I wanted to clean it up back there.

 

If you want to go back, is easy to do afterwards then. The VW badge would be the only thing difficult to put back if it was removed and smoothed.
