diarmaid16 1 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) Not sure who the rest of the community use but for any VAG parts I've needed I've used AVS. Never had a problem with them and always found them very helpful. Also find their website very straightforward to find parts. seanl82 23 Posted March 1, 2015 Gear oil - redline mt90 from Opie Oils. Search the forum for discount code. Disks and pads - ecp or cp4l and get pagid stuff. Good stuff and not expensive. Rear bearings - don't scrimp. Get the best available (most expensive generally) from the above mentioned suppliers.

Wayne2015 10 Posted March 3, 2015 Best Rear Wheel Bearing kit to buy?
delfinis38 1 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Wayne dunno what car you have but originally they either came with SNR bearings which are available from eurocar parts or SKF. I bought SKF vkba 529 which are rear for a late vr. And vkba 1491 for front. Think I bought from ebay. Your paying twice the price for the original bearing their for coming in a vw box. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Skf-Wheel-Bearing-Kit-for-VW-VKBA529-/400755732741?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d4ee73105 Note the OEM REF NUMBER FOR THE SKF IS THE SAME AS IN ORIG BEARING IN THE PICTURE ABOVE.191-598-625 This bearing is listed for a lot of corrado models. Mine originally came with SKF. Edited March 4, 2015 by delfinis38

delfinis38 1 Posted March 4, 2015 The SKF bearings will fit on a 94 VR. And are top notch original component. With the rear disks you may also need a new abs ring. You can buy seperatly or pagid used to do a disk that it came with... Note the listed front disks in your thread have two different thickness. I guess one is solid and one is vented. Your input really useful - as u gather i have no idea what i am buying! Will deffo check out the bearings u recommended as! So i do need an ABS ring for BOTH front + back discs? *ABS = anti lock brakes?
delfinis38 1 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Abs ring just for the rear. It's clipped to the inside of the disk. Yup anti lock brake. They look like this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SENSOR-RING-For-ABS-VW-CORRADO-53I-2-9-VR6-190BHP-Top-German-Quality-/201108268868?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ed2fca744 You could take it off your old disk but normally they are rusty and deform when you remove. If you look on euro car parts the expensive rear disk at forty odd quid comes with this... Don't forget you will need four new carrier bolts for the rear and four for the front. Google ebay corrado carrier bolts. They are about three quid each but are high torque bolts. Rear bolts here...http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xcorrado+carrier+bolts.TRS0&_nkw=corrado+carrier+bolts&ghostText=&_sacat=0 Edited March 4, 2015 by delfinis38

delfinis38 1 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Good luck... Very wise to change carrier bolts.... It's what bolts all your new parts above to the car.... The rears are especially a bitch to get out and normally get butchered with a set of Irwins Edited March 4, 2015 by delfinis38

fla 9 Posted March 4, 2015 Discs and pads are generally quite a nice project to do. You're not acting like a contortionist and getting scraped knuckles. Get a small stool you can sit on and a good set of sockets (i use the Halford Professional ones), some copper grease, rags, wire brush, wd40, brake cleaner and you're in business. Use a piece of card (packing material) to put everything on, so you can see what needs cleaning and what needs throwing! Good luck and have fun. And as above, Irwins are a great addition to the toolbox.

Wayne2015 10 Posted March 4, 2015 its great to have your and chuggs enthusiasm / passion. Every car I had I tried to join a forum. Ones that are welcoming, I tried to get involved as much. Others - I just don't bother as not so welcoming. This is so far one of the former - in fact probably the MOST helpful forum to date! :) And the other thing that impressed me was how civilised everyone on here are to each other - its like wow, people here are really really polite :)
