Wheeler Dealers - Corrado this autumn

Recommended Posts

Mike Brewer's finally bought a Corrado for the show :)

No idea what model though, but hope they don't ruin it like the RX-8..

(About 1min 50 into the video)

I think they're doing 10 American cars first, UK stuff follows later in the year.

Sorry if it says that in the vid, PC probs ensure I can't view the video...........

Warm start issues.

Spoiler doesn't work automatically.

Sunroof doesn't work.

Heater matrix gone.

Heater fan only works on speed 4.

Driving puts permanent grin on face.

Hope they aren't buying Wayne's VR - it's only an hour long show

(Sorry Wayne, you know I love you! :thumbleft:)

Corrado suits the show spend loads on it on parts. Spend months doing it then mikes over the moon because he made a 50 quid on it.

Yeah this makes me laugh. He must pay ed buttons as so pleased they make say 200 quid but ed has spent 20 hours in the workshop and also had to go with a trailerr to pick the car up!

They might want to get it finished and bring it to the CCGB national day!

I think in his defence it's never setup that it's meant to be a business or something like that.. the idea is that they're generally demonstrating things that most home mechanics / enthusiasts could achieve. They rarely get into hardcore stuff like tearing down and rebuilding an engine or gearbox (though I suppose they have done such things in the past) and try and focus on more superficial stuff.

Yeah I agree with what your saying Jim they usually send off to a specialist. Maybe its just me that they concentrate an awful lot on how much 'profit' they are making.

Edds a partner in the show mate. He does ok out of it, trust me. You've got to bear in mind this is telly - it's only a few seasons ago that the production company started insisting they actually sell the cars.

Yeah that's a good point.. I guess they play the profit down, but it's sort of a major feature of every restoration they do! Never thought about it that way.

The whole show is fake as far as I'm aware the sellers are actors, the buyers are actors. Think it was the beetle they did, a guy on a beetle forum that sold them the car admits it all.

Even so, i still enjoy it and gets me in the mood to go and work on the corrado.

I don't think that's true. I can only speak on their 'Trading up' series and the MK1 Golf GTI as our club was involved in the sale venue - it was definitely all genuine ;)

Like I said above in the early days it was all staged - one of the cars was "bought" off the sound man, another was "sold" to a girl in our sales department.

I've known Edd for 25 years and he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Mike Brewer on the other hand...

Haha I bet plenty of people on here will knit pick any of the fixes they do, especially the stuff that's Sticky on the forum. I really love watching the show and I definitely won't miss this episode!

Personally really like Mike. He not only seems to be ridiculously hard working, but also always seems to have time to chat to fans of the show. He takes a ridiculous amount of abuse and hassle online through his social media accounts - absolutely not deserved in my opinion, but I guess it comes with the territory when you use things like Facebook & Twitter and are famous.

I think Mike plays up an awful lot for the cameras. Virtually everyone who's met him in person says what a nice bloke he is.

It's the things like rapping his knuckles on pristine paintwork whilst saying "corr, ain't she in great shape", dropping keys to Ed or a potential buyer directly over the bonnet of a car & sitting on the car wearing jeans or crops that gets me. Makes my teeth itch. I still watch (and enjoy) the show though.
