robrado974 1 Posted November 12, 2015 Evening chaps . I'm considering using two layers of carpet underlay for lining the areas behind the pedals , up and over the tunnel and passenger side . I already have the proper underlay for the front and rear foot wells . Would this be ok ? I'm not sure about gluing it straight to the floor pan without a barrier . Any thoughts ? . I'm worried it may condensate . Kind regards Rob

easypops 8 Posted November 12, 2015 I'm interested to see how you get on with this as I'd like to do similar as I already have the interior stripped anyway :)
robrado974 1 Posted November 12, 2015 The right up for it is good . And it won't break the bank ! . I was given some floor sound deadening usually for house use , I could not believe how heavy it was , I couldn't use it really . The stuff I've just bought is light weight , I'm sure it will be fine .
fla 9 Posted November 13, 2015 Rob the heavy stuff is likely to be a sound barrier, a bit like the heavy black layer on the original sound proofing. The foamy bit absorbs any noise. What you ideally also need it another foam (called closed cell foam) to separate the sound absorber from the noise source. The rationale here is that whilst the absorber absorbs sound well it also absorbs moisture well! Not ideal. The closed cell foam separates this both from the moisture and from the noise source. If you apply the heavy stuff directly to the floor it wont do anything, in fact it could even make things worse! HTH
robrado974 1 Posted November 13, 2015 Thanks Fla . That's good news as the one I've ordered is closed cell . Rob
